obitobe: Very vague description of your current issues. Try to add more info/details. lilkech: TPS throttle position sensor. Available if you need Brand new ones. EVEREST91: Two cables from your throttle body. Look at the one going into the gear box, it is not aligned properly. Conner44: I can supply at 150,000. 1year guarantee. |

GAZZUZZ: it is honda accord 2004 model, a 4 cylinder, it does not select gear when moving, it remains at gear one and wouldn't change. |

Re: Automatic Gearbox Problems by Kashif(m): 8:56am On Oct 31, 2016 |
lilkech: Scan the car, and get transmission PIDs first. TPS will most likely cause delayed and bumpy shifts, but may also have a hand in this. What I think is that your car is shifting like this: 2-1-3-4 or 2-1-2-3-4. You need to know what the ECU is commanding, but I think it should be commanding correctly. Make sure your transmission speed sensor connectors are not switched, as it is a common occurrence in those. 1 Like |

Car Doctor,my honda babyboy(1998) Please i just have my engine and gearbox changed just a month ago but now am having a problem with the gear i think....It looses drive in motion and secondly it jerks whenever the gear whats to change from gear2 to 3 as well as 3 to 4. it started while i was away from my base which i was ask to change the gearoil and the gearswitch but still the problem never stops.....The rewire said i can drive it like that to my base. He removed one of the gearswitch cable and ask me to always initiate drive with gear 1, 2, 3 till i get to drive...though i noticed the gear doesn't change. i more or less driven the car from Ilorin to Lagos Manually. Pls what could be the cause of the loss of drive in motion and the Jerk whenever it want to change gear? as i just parked the car at home since. THANKS |

A toyota Prado 2001. She (my wife) was driving home, and it started giving less acceleration, and the RPMs went up. She kept going as long as it would let her, and it kept giving less acceleration, and higher RPMs if she pressed the gas, until finally it was like the car was in neutral. She turned the car off, turned it back on 5 seconds later, and it worked again for a little bit (she says maybe a minute or two), then did the same thing. I got home and gave it a shot, and it seems like after ignition, after around 1 minute, it'll give less acceleration / rev the engine more if you hit the gas. After 2 minutes, no acceleration, just revving if you hit the gas. The shifting seems smooth and fine for that minute it works. If you now leave the car for about 2 days, it begins to work normally as long as you don't take it through a distance of about 40km @ a stretch. What do you think could be the problem? ATF or something else? I checked the fluid, it is not reddish but light brown, not smelling either. Can you recommend a transmission shop in Lag that can handle it for me or I just need to drain the oil and replace the filter? Thanks |
Re: Automatic Gearbox Problems by makavele: 12:27am On Dec 07, 2016 |
dan6019: You are boiling your ATF . . if u were able to check the dipstick after it stopped responding to the gas pedal, you would have seen steam coming out of the dipstick. Hoping you have not damaged it yet, just do a drain and refill; and you should be fine. |
