How can education development in Nigeria, when the amount allocated to it is less than 5% of the total budget . They don't really care about it because their children don't study in those university . The governor of my state last week said "what is the big deal in a school shut for 8 months" . University of Ibadan is my school and I can say ,the school is still enjoying the contribution of the old students, foreign aids ,as well as past glory.Government contribution to the development of that school is so little.YOU CAN'T DEVELOP A COUNTRY WITHOUT DEVELOPING THE EDUCATION SECTOR.

Too bad for naija uni. We have more than 100 universities, yet just one made it to first 20 in Africa.

I've heard great things about South African universities, so I can't say I'm surprised to see them top the list.

You do not have to beef UI now!!! The school is just the best in Nigeria. A visit to the school will convince you beyond measures.

UI will achieve that by June.

The German Govt is building a 35MW solar station for the school and it will be completed by May.

Some years ago, I was a Consultant Engineer to a FG Project at the FCT and other states. Could you believe that the so called Foreign Engineers they brought from Germany, UK, India and China where learning the work from we the Nigerian Engineers?
Then I was even a young Engineer not even COREN-Certified at that time self. Yet those foreigners couldn't know jack more than us that were trained here.

All we have in Nigeria aren't Universities but advance secondary school. Especially science oriented courses in Nigeria university are complete whack. U get to a laboratory where kerosene stove is been used in place of a Bunsen burner, a Laboratory without steady power supply, no research centres, no new innovations or invention

most rankings are based on research done in those schools including facilities, its not a case of been intelligent but being productive
