Yes they do. A guy lied about being refused a US Visa, and it was stated as one of the reasons, he was denied.

1. You are married. You went on a vacation to Tanzania with wife and kid. But you are now going to the US, alone.
2. The answer to "why are you going to America?" was weak. "I shall be going on vacation, I wish to see xyz bcus xyz and xyz
3. If it is your first time in an interview. It is taken into account and you are not judged by that i.e. stuttering.
4. Houston, Texas is usually known for childbirth and not vacation.

I am scheduled for 8.30 but I got their 7 because of Lagos traffic and all, after all the long minutes of standing and all I entered for the interview. I did my finger print and passport photograph scanning and later join the queue for the interview. I was watching all what is happening and how many are been refused, the funniest one I saw that day is the traditional chief with his two adult male children, those guys even put on beads on their neck , it didn't take the blonde woman 40 seconds to denied them. It got to my turn to stand behind the person being interviewed at the moment, the man approved the family before me and it got to my turn which goes as follows
Me: Good morning, how are you doing?
VO: good morning I am doing good and you
Me: I am fine
VO: where are you going in the US?
Me: I am visiting my aunt who lives at bleep in Georgia for the wedding ceremony of my cousin as he is my cousin and my best friend and I will be the one to represent my family

Me: I am a bleep and work with Nigeria bleep agency, and explain the function and what I do at work

Me: I told him I had my training at the work address provide but I stated the address fully for him

Note: I am in my mid twenties , not married and travel history is Ghana, the only ties in my form is that am currently a masters student and my job and nothing else . He didn't ask for any document.

Pls when you quoted you have been to Ghana did you show this as an history on your passport or you just said it?

His passport would definitely be stamped on arrival in Ghana (also at departure), either by road or by air. The VO would see the stamps on his passport.

I work within the VI area and will be leaving for the 10:45 interview from work, what time should I get there?

I have passport photos but I'm not sure whether they fit the application spec, any advice on where to get proper ones done?

Everything is in order.... you can get the proper passport photograph done at any photo studio just tell them it's American visa photograph... Leave around 8am because they can call your time before 10:45pm

Please I intend to start up a fish farm some months from now as an alternative source of income so I got an invitation to attend a conference on fish culturing as the conference will be giving insights on modern techniques in fish culturing, how to startup, and there are also key workshops I'm interested in which will cover the major challenges in fish culturing.

1. This not related to my occupation as I work with a well known company as a professional and earn over #250k monthly but I want to do this for extra income.

2. I'm attending this conference as part of my annual leave and i have an official letter to this effect.

3. I have been working for over 5 years.

4. I am married with 3 kids.

5. I have previously traveled to Togo and Benin for business.

6. I have my hotel confirmation already.

7. I'm staying for 6 days.

Why did Nigerian Immigration seize your passport? I thought they normally ''cancelled without prejudice'' when there's no problem.. Maybe something is fishy here.

No they didn't seize it. Don't always think something is fishy. They took it after renewal. They did same to everyone. They said I have a new passport and that the old one now belongs to the Government. Looks like a new rule to me you could confirm.

They do not collect it... if you have a valid visa on it.. will they collect it? it will be cancelled without prejudice.. Nigerian Immigration will never ever do it without asking you if they should hold it or not.

What she said is true. My mom's expired passport was taken from her at Ikoyi passport office recently. Though she didn't have valid visas in them.
