It is rather sad that most Nigerians are often quick to promote evil and mediocrity by referring to what happened elsewhere. Granted it was not intentional. But how do we justify the killing of over fifty innocent Nigerians in IDP camps on Nigeria soil by Nigeria Air force?

Though I am not justifying the killing of civilians by US air strikes, but it is a known fact that US airstrikes did not kill Americans on American soil!

We are talking about a camp with hundreds of tents in the midst of a completely dry, sandy topography.

It only qualifies as an accident if BH members were in the camp and were using civilians as human shields. Every of those civilians killed in the Middle East by Western forces were civilians used as human shields by hostile elements. It's no secrets that when cornered, insurgents may run into highly populated buildings, hospitals, or schools to avoid air strikes.

But this is not the case here.

We did not use a drone for crying out loud. This was done by an alpha jet. And it wasn't just one bomb, it was multiple bombs.

One bastard received wrong coordinates and did not survey the area before dropping the bombs. Because there is no excuse for not noticing that this was an IDP camp. It is impossible for the murderer to mistakenly bomb an IDP camp. These camps are very conspicuous from the air.

I'm not surprised. More death is coming. And as I wrote in a post on my alternate account, RIP in advance to those who're yet to die. Human life is worth sh*t in Nigeria.

This is a national tragedy. I expect the government to declare some days of national mourning. Could it be an avoidable failure of due diligence and intelligence gathering on part of the military? Is it that the Nigeria Army did not have adequate information on the locations of IDP camps in Nigeria? This incident should be properly investigated to forestall future occurrence of such errors.

I am also worried how we play politics with disasters and the actual number of casualty in Nigeria. Since the incident occurred, the media has been turning out conflicting figures.

Nevertheless, our gallant soldiers should not let this incidence discourage them from pursuing the war against terrorism to a logical conclusion.

My sincere prayer is that may the Almighty comfort the bereaved and also those that were injured, some will carry serious injuries for the rest of their lives. As a parent, I can't imagine what my reaction would be to a killing of children or wards by 'mistake'.

I was going to write something to this effect, good thing I read through and saw this, nothing more to add. This tragedy was clearly deliberate and in a sane clime, there'd be fall guys already in place to take the heat which then gives the mistake scenario some plausibility but here, they'll eat their cake, collect yours and leave rabid supporters to do damage control. Some top military officials should have been relieved of their duties by now for this fiasco.

normally in cases like this the general who gave the go ahead to bomb the targeted location is to be disciplined by the military if found to have conducted such, unprofessionally. Thats all. Nothing political.
