Bro u can search for schools offering the course u intend studying and check their site for application fee (which I know is around $100CAD) and from conversion that's certainly not #100k. Try and search yourself and u will be happy u did. I don't know ur intended course but I think someone here in this forum said something about Mohawk college, so try and check them out if the have ur course then it's up to u to apply telvinfantasy: |

Riddeek: Wetin happen to first class? Who first class help when you are challenged by perfect Chinese GP and US students with publishing spirit ? I be first class and 3 schools busted my bubble last year. I have learnt my lesson and won't advise anyone to apply to UBC, Toronto, or McGill alone. In fact, if you apply there and have first class, just take it as expecting miracle to be accepted, and apply to other 2 mid and 1 lower rank school(s) that will respect you small. Lol. It will end with praises. 9 Likes 1 Share |

platypelloid: Can't recommend with no knowledge of your profile. What's your last two years of study GP? What's your UG course? Do you have any experience? Do your proposed program require supervisor? I hope you will say no, for me to be able to rejoice with you more. If you can answer above questions and still need answer. Colleges offer easy admission with little or no scholarship. They can be as expensive as 20k cad per year and may not offer courses related to your UG course. Now, before you jump at their easy admission, except you have at least three years of provable exoerience in the field they offer, ensure it is in a course very similar to your UG course name spelling. Go for PGC in environment sc if your UG course is environmental science. So that you dont run away from frying pan and enter fire. Lol. |

Osemigho: Schools like Utoronto, McGill and UBC don't just rely on GPA. It's about your overall academic profile especially your publications, recommendations and the novelty of your area of research. When your proposed field is an area where they already have more than enough graduate students, the probability of rejection is high. Also it is always advisable to choose fields with relatively high number of potential supervisors so that by the time the grad admission committee is looking to assign you to a supervisor, at least you'd have one supervisor ready to accept you as a grad student. Cos with these schools....no supervisor invariably translates to no admission. Like rideek suggested, never put all your eggs in one basket. It very suicidal to do that. |

CIC can and does punish people for their agent's mistakes. The US Embassy and many other embassies do the same. Embassies know that many Nigerians use agents fully knowing that the agent would use fake documents or provide dubious information. CIC didn't recommend any agent to you, the fact that the agent is CIC certified doesn't absolve you of the agent's mistakes. You need to take this situation into your own hands. I highly doubt the agent would take responsibility as this may provide grounds for CIC to sanction him/her or revoke his/her agent license. Just FYI, if I were you I would either fire the agent or be 100% certain (not 99% o) that the explanation sent by the agent truly shows that he/she is taking responsibility (and includes proof). The agent has more to lose by being truthful to CIC. Ignore my advice if you strongly trust the agent. jamal411: 1 Like |

unyted: since you have located this forum you don't need any agent, and is not a must you must have anybody in Canada, and also using an agent is not a guarantee your visa will be approve, and also note most of the challenges and problems some people in this thread are facing especially with misrepresentation of information were caused by agent. first settle in your mind that you can do it on your own. if you can have that settle in your mind, the you begin your success journey. and note people just like u came and did it on there own. and must of them are in Canada today. so the big question how do you start? 1. get an admission from either a university or college in Canada. and note the course you are applying for must be related to your either your first degree or work experience other wise, your visa will be refuse base on purpose of visit. 2. package your visa application very well. expecially if you are going for either a postgraduate diploma or certificate program. 3. then be ready to wait. patient is d key to dis Canada visa journey. note. during your waiting period every mail wen enter your mail box go dry cut your mind. but most importantly we are here for you. what program are you going for? masters or postgraduate? any work experience? who is your sponsor? and what program did you do during your first degree? answer to these questions can give us a clear direction of helping you. 3 Likes |

Those eager to do M.Sc., you can always swap from M.Eng when you get to Canada. It is much easier. I have spoken to friends who swapped, some are in the process of swapping. Don't give your self headache. Also @ Osemigho , please don't be quick to discourage peeps from applying to UBC. In a competition, don't be disturbed about those competing with you, forget about the Asians, do your best and believe in God. I was already recommended for admission there. I ignored it because I had paid tuition deposit to U of R and I wanted Saskatchewan Province for personal reasons. But I think it takes more than CGPA, because I uploaded my design project during my application. I had a 2.1. 1 Like |

mrchemist: Based on reading alone, I will advise your friend to get PGC admission in information science, since I am not sure their universities understand how our OND/HND works. When he/she get to Canada, the person can further desired course. Submitting nursing admission letter, with no nursing prior study or experience, is an auto-reject. |

[quote author=vvvvvvvvvvvvvvv post=52931673]Hello Guys, I need advise and direction. Got admission at dalhaouise university. Am applying next month for study visa. Online application though And I want to do upfront medical (will you advise).Either upfront or you wait for medical call, both are good. It's just that, if you front load medical, it saves the period of just requesting for your medical result and if you don't do upfront, if there will be any rejection, it's likely to come before you're been called for medical which saves you cost of doing medical. The option is yours. Or I shld apply and wait for me to called for medicals. And will I be able to submit online without medicals if I don't do upfront medicals.Sure, you will be able to submit without front-loading medical. On my Biometric, whe will I be called after applying online?Usually it's between a week after submission, but no one can be so sure of the exact date. And the main issue is the payment with out current forex wahala in Nigeria as Access bank won't allow me pay more that 200 cad dollars and the application fee +biometric fee is 225 cad dollars.Try getting someone that has a US Dom account if not, get someone outside Nigeria to help you pay while you fund the person's naira account with the equivalent naira. Good morning everyone, please i want to know if letter of support/sponsorship is the same as Affidavit of support/sponsorship. If they are not, which is more preferable for visa for visa application? |
Re: Travelling To Canada Part 11 by penitential(m): 8:29am On Jan 19, 2017 |
Yes, both are the same. You can choose to notarized your letter of sponsorship. drwrites: 1 Like |

Genius000: The intention was not to discourage anyone but to let them know what they are up against. If they don't know, they might think it is easy and submit a wishy-washy application, with no backup. I don't think it is right to say you should not be 'disturbed' by competition because when you don't know what you are up against, you might not put all your best in it. Ask Nokia and Blackberry what competition means and why you need to always be informed about it and up your game for it. Anyone following my profile will know I applied to Toronto for fall 2016 and was rejected, but have reapplied to UBC, Toronto and other schools. So, I am taking the risk again too. Once again, My intention is not to discourage anyone but to prepare fully for the battle they are up to mentally, academically, and spiritually. Thanks for saying it takes more than GPA. Heaven helps those who help themselves. Shalom! 2 Likes |

penitential: it not the same bro, if u notorized ur sponsorship letter wch is not necessary cox the letter is addressed to the embassy with d signature of the sponsor at the end of the letter. affidavit of sponsorship on the other hand gives details of the supporting documents your sponsor is giving to support your application. documents like landed properties, photocopy of data page of passport or any internationally recognized identification (this is needed to confirm the signature on the sponsor's letter), his support to u, CAC certificates, your sponsor's relationship to u can also be repeated in this affidavit, summary of annual earnings from ur sponsor from his/her work or rent from properties listed (if applicable) and so many other documents. this is a legal tender that really affirms the sponsors readiness to sponsor you. this is totally different from letter of sponsorship. 6 Likes 1 Share |

CarpricornPratt: Thanks. I applied 3rd oct 2016, online application got my passport request 16th january 2017. Its my 3rd attempt actually, i didn't do anything exceptionally new except send them a calm but angry LOE telling them its my last attempt, with a notarized paper showing my willingness to come back and prayers. it took me a year in all. 1 Like |

Eraytee:Please can you tell me what affidavit of sponsorship and letter of sponsorship is been used for as you've claim they are both not the same? An affidavit of sponsorship contains the sponsor's name, type of work s/he does, annual earning, and stating other income source. It also shows relationship between the sponsor and the applicant....signed and most times sealed which makes it more official than just ordinary letter. Both affidavit of sponsorship and letter of sponsorship are used for the same purpose (stating sponsor's commitment to the applicant). 2 Likes |
