MTN will be stopping Blackberry services in Nigeria starting from the 27th of January 2017. In a message sent to subscribers on Thursday, MTN said: “Dear customer, MTN BlackBerry service will be decommissioned on 27/01/2017. Please upgrade to a smartphone and enjoy 100% bonus on any data bundle purchased.” When contacted on this issue, MTN said: ” it means you won’t be able to subscribe to any blackberry service by that date. However, you can upgrade to a smartphone and purchase any of our data bundles.” This notification follows Whatsapp’s announcement that it will discontinue services for Blackberries on December 31st, 2016, a deadline which was eventually extended to June 2017.

It is not MTN's fault. Technology has upgraded and for your information, MTN pays BlackBerry some amount of money. Also other apps like WhatsApp are migrating away from BlackBerry and this will make the phone to be useless. Everyone does business for profit and MTN is not an exception. They should look into reviewing their tariffs on data to encourage subscribers. 8 Likes |

Same BlackBerry that a friend of mine that came from UK to Benin with 10 BlackBerry Bold 2 in 2011, 6 ladies gave him their virginity in exchange for one blackberry bold 2 each, and 4 married women lured him to illicit affairs just to acquired one from him and ping too. He deliberately brought them in the country because he was aware how crazy Nigerians were going for blackberry then. Even here on Nairaland, I remembered how BB users always praise the phone then. Moral Lesson :- Nothing in life worth desperate to aquire in life. 41 Likes 1 Share |
