Image is different from picture. what the hadith's is referring to is those that draw images, just like the artist and sculptor that creates images. Just like the people of Noah that create images of their pious ones after their death.

Islam doesn't condemn pictures, the only condition pictures are not allowed, is when using pictures of sheikhs as necklace and other aspect which can leads to 'shrik' (associating partner with God)

I think it would help if agree with your fiancee to avoid these things. You stand a better chance of convincing them if both of you agree on it.
You can also try explaining why you don't want the music etc and they understand.

بارك الله فيكم يا أخي الكريم.
But many won't accept these because they think Islam can be slim fitted to their desire. They think these things can't be avoided. AlhamduliLlaahi, I did mine walimah last month and we didn't do most of these things. It's this issue of pictures and music that usually confuse people but The message of RasooluLlaahi is clear. May Allaah guide us and them

u wrong.brother. islam condems both pictures and images.either 2 or 3 dimensional.
pls islam is not a religion where you talk if you dont have knowledge.the holy prophet s.a.w dusted of 2 dimensional images inside the ka'aba with water and cloth, cursing the culprits while cleaning.
now can u clean images ,using water and clothe?so pls brother.lets search for knowledge
well, I wount sound rude to you. In Islam, there is what we call 'adab' (etiquette) which I think you lack, for quoting someone you don't know to have no knowledge about Islam.

I am highly surprised at you analogy, saying the prophet clean images using water and clothes relating to cleaning pictures with water and clothes.

Why don't you get water and clothes to clean pictures from your television screen, in regards to your comparison.

Go read history about creating of images, creating of images have been condemned even before the time of the prophet.

I really appreciate you for this link. I have read all the hadith's. I want us get a clear understanding of these hadiths. Note the word CREATE. I would also advise to read about history of creating images. you can just conclude base on the context of hadith's.

Creating of Images have been existing since pre-Islamic period, which subsequent Prophets condemn before Prophet Muhammad. The hadiths are referring to drawings, creating idols, and not taking pictures.

If u insist on condemning pictures. What do you say about a mirror in the house giving a real picture of your self and television.

As salaamu alaykum brother. If you snap a picture, what have you done, havnt you created it with a phone or camera ? i mean i dont understand what you re insinuating here with the word CREATE. Some pple even go as far as printing it out or making frames for it to be hanged.

Pardon me, i am doubting if you actually read the treatise fully. Please do read again and read the emphasis of the scholar on picture making:
Taking pictures with a camera involves human actions such as focusing, pressing the shutter, developing, printing, and so on. We cannot call it anything other than "picture-making" or tasweer, which is the expression used by all Arabic-speakers to describe this action.

As for mirror and video tapes. mirror is a reflection of your self and not you making an image and besides, it will clear when you leave. Can you also say shadows are haraam ? NO
Video tapes re moving objects and hence they do not fall under that category except when they contain evil contents, they can be haram. I am not a scholar pls, this issue is not one to be argued about at all by pple like us. But get your facts right, Ask scholars. I mean scholars. dont follow your desires against the commandment of Allah. Allah knows best brother

sallam. Let me first state categorically that I am not a picture freak to erase your thought from your last statement. As you can see, I don't have a profile picture, you can as well go to my Facebook page to confirm this. But I talk base on facts on ground.

I can see you are quoting from one source which you posted the link. Islam is very broad, you cant just come to conclusion like that. In Islam, their is what we call ' Sabab Nusus' ( the origin of a deed or action). So, you can conclude base on the context of a sentence.

You see, the Issue of pictures have been debated by different scholars years back, which they give different opinions.

From the point you made earlier, you said the pictures from videos are moving. Are you trying to differentiate moving pictures from stationery pictures.

I even learnt some don't watch Television because of the quoted hadiths. Is there any better example of making images than that of a Television. Are they not created by human?

Taking pictures with camera is a reflection of oneself, the lens of a camera is like a glass that captures exact image of a person just like video camera.

Go educate yourself oga.

Buhari's daughter the other day defied all these and none of the scholars said anything about it. neither did any of those fanatics on facebook that threatened that Hausa actress said anything about it. Hitherto, i am yet to see a thread on Nairaland that criticized the wedding as well. Aside the fact that music of all sorts were played there (even Olamide), lots of pre wedding pictures were taken and wedding pictures, I'm yet to see any Nigerian scholar criticize it.

It is not enforced on poor people, rather we enforce it on ourselves.. You see hell rufai shakes hand with an opposite sex, these poor deluded people won't see any problem with it. You see Emir of kano youngest wife, uploaded her pictures on Internet, these people won't see taken pictures as haram then, neither will they even think she's a married woman. But wait till an average poor man like them do all these things, that's when you will see hadiths that you've never seen before, and different scholars that you've never come across. I don't know the kind of mentality some people carry about. And if you talk now, they will say, you are pathetically ignorant, or that you don't know anything about Islam. Some will even say you are a fake Muslim..Smh.

Spot on bro, you just unveil my mind.

About the Islamic rules enforcement on poor people, you will see all these yeye people calling themselves Hisbah or Islamic police arresting average poor Muslims because they broke an Islamic law but they dare not arrest a wealthy man/rich man.

Buhari daughter can go about wearing no hijab, she won't be confronted but once they see an average poor young lady doing same they won't hesitate arresting her and flog hell out of her. This mostly happens in the northern Nigeria and Islamic countries.

What a shame and bigoted people.

What do you want me to say. Its not about Zarah Buhari. All of us are guilty. Come to the north and see how wedding is against the aforementioned conditions. And not even north, the south west is worst than the north. Northern scholars do speak on how the Nikah Walima should be but not by citing example with so and so daughter.

Hope this answers you.
