There is no such thing as inventing in science in reality and neither is there such a thing as a lone great man in science, whatever you think was created or invented relied on past work by former scientists, which is why two scientists can solve a problem independently at the same time with similar and dissimilar solutions and hence Newton's quote on seeing farther in science than past scientists by "standing atop former giants(scientist works)".

Now the question really is which past giant's(scientist's) work did modern computing rely on, the answer is a lot of people though, but if we were to choose one person it will be Alan Turing, as he contributed a lot to modern computing artificial intelligence due to his "Turing test" and his work breaking the Nazis code, and now A.I computing is the main difference between computing machines made before world war 2 and the computing machines made after.

So yeah in a way you can say he invented modern computing systems.
