No obvious route. His preferred position seems to be on the left and he is not better than Martial who is the same age. There will be a space for a squad player and Lingard, Adnan and him can fight for that.

when people say things like this i'm baffled. Memphis isn't some academy player rising through the ranks this is a guy who tore up the dutch league two seasons in a row and played all the way up to the world cup semi-final for one of the better teams in international football.

Granted the Dutch league is not the premier league but neither was the French league when Hazard signed from Lille at a similar age to Mempis. The point is, this guy is already a proven talent whether you like it or not and so the Hazard comparisons are actually not that off the mark. Now if it were Januzaj being compared with Hazard i could understand the umbrage but Memphis Depay is a different class.

I didn't mean starting 11.
That still looks like a long shot... But it seems he's playing as the most advanced central midfielder in a 433 today.
I do not know how feasible it will be to make him play deeper.

Yes he also plays in attacking midfield but will JM view him as a decent and similar enough sub for Pogba? His best bet is to reinvent himself once more and come back to compete for Herrera's position.I personally like him too and would like him and Adnan to come back and make one last attempt to make the squad, just not sure JM is that kind of manager.
