The reason why successionist groups like IPOD, OPC, MASSOP, IYC and ACF will always exist is because greedy, selfish and evil people will always need them to push their ethnic and tribal agenda.

When a Hausa man in Kano knows that he won't get into the ministry of finance without federal character, he will work his ass off and go to the best schools in the world to earn his qualification. If he knows that he will always get a jib at the ministry because he's Hausa, and his son will get admitted to QC or KC even if he scores 0 in common entrance, he will do everything possible to keep that system. Infact if anyone tries to tamper with that system, he will just scream tribalism. That's how messed up our situation is. Same applies to the other tribes.

Only way to have saved one Nigeria is through fiscal federalism/resourse control/regional government system.

Tribalism in Nigeria was started by northern Nigeria when it progressively used northern Nigeria soldiers to create the 36 states and Abuja fraudulent political structure.

Land mass is NEVER a yard stick to determine how many new federal units like states, provinces or regions can be created in any area in federal countries.
But northern Nigeria used land mass as yard stick to proliferate twenty New federal units in northern Nigeria.
The political structure of 36 states and Abuja thus favours only northern Nigeria as it derives economic and political over-representation from the twenty undue large number of states and hundreds of local government councils littered by northern soldiers in the north.

The political structure now makes northern political class dictate the tunes in Nigeria.

Thus the the most educationally disadvantaged northern Nigeria drives the political and economic development of Nigeria, it's become a disaster.

The resultant disaster manifests itself in form of marginalized Nigerian groups, general economic malaise, absence of social infrastructure, etc.
The Igbos being the most organized and cohesive group thus resumed their desire for Biafra out of Nigeria.
It's no longer possible to restructure Nigeria politically to bring back equity to the country's political process.
