You should try GTBank in Kubwa, Abuja branch. I guarantee you will close your account with them. Unfortunately for them there is a Fidelity Bank just next to them and I have since moved there. They have a very good customer service there. One GTB staff in Kubwa branch literally shouted custmers out of their branch once in my presence. God help us...

Hahahahahah. Kubwa banks are crazy. Not worse than Maraba and Nyanya banks?

Well, this report is long overdue, in my opinion. I would have said this customer service personnel should be subjected to quarterly orientation, but then, it would not help all that much. Where I believe the problem is is the presence of crowd or otherwise in a bank.

For example, GTBank in Enugu, Rangers Avenue is so bad that I had to lash out at one after he left his seat for almost ten minutes, and when he returned, he simply pretended as if I never existed. I was bitter and mad that day, and although he apologized afterwards, it just wasn't enough. This is a bank with over 50 people at a particular time.

Stanbic, Stanbic is a bank I prefer to visit. While they don't control that level of crowd as the GTBank at Rangers Avenue, every customer counts at the Okpara Avenue branch. I could remember being attended to by this personnel. She was calm, extremely friendly and paid every detail to my plight. Long story short, I left the bank fulfilled and satisfied. Almost customer service personnel there know me as I seem to be the only one with issues in this world cheesy. All the same, the service is the same everything.

First Bank around New Haven is sheer horror and the customer service personnel are horrible. I closed my First Bank account because of a demeaning experience with one of them. I had thought of writing to report her but then, all she would get was a query and I just might end up having someone fired.

The differences I noticed with these banks, in my opinion, would be due to the number of people who visit them daily. These personnel might start the day smiling, nice and sweet, then get tired at the long run. They're humans too but then it would be better their BMs do a routine check every now and then, rather than sit down in their office, sipping coffees and teas while staring at the bank's CCTV monitor screen like they're watching the UEFA Champions League.
If you people can reduce the number of times you visit your banks, then you might get better service. I have several bank accounts.....I have ensured I have my atm card and online banking functional and if I have an issue I send a mail to the banks.....

So I wonder why will I visit a bank when I have access to all I need from the comfort of my home.

Just the other day people were crying about queues at various ATMs during the festive period. And I ask why carry cash?

GTBANK and STANBIC IBTC are still my best banks.
They've empowered customers to run things.
I can't remember when last I entered a banking hall thanks to their 737, online banking and multiple alternative channels.

Those Complaining about banks are those who have refused to move with the times. Apart from cash deposits and withdrawals you can do virtually everything without visiting a branch.
Thank you jare. I don't have time to queue . I do everything online. Can't remember when I went to the bank too. Thanks to Gtbank

Good job Op. While not supporting lackadaisical and non challant attitudes, it is pertinent to note that most of the customer service personnels are CONTRACT STAFF with Bsc. They work with Same Bsc holders who are fortunate to be full staff of the bank and earn three times of what the contract staff earns which is rampant in Skyebank. Note also that most of the jobs are done by the contract staff. There is frustration and no job satisfaction, hence they transfer aggression to customers. Whilst not supporting such acts, management of banks should come up with a more robust welfare package for contract staff who are Bsc holders.

I think the best customer care services I have ever experienced is that of Stanbic IBTC at Iwo Road, Ibadan. They make you feel so welcome and attend to you so warmly. I once went for an enquiry there early last year and met a young man who attended to me well... Was surprised when I saw his call on the first of January this year wishing me happy new year. I was wowed. There is this nice man always smiling at every one that enters the banking hall...and another nice lady that her smile just captivates you at the CC desk. The ATMs just never run out of cash at that branch...

So people who work in industries where they receive daily in flow of cash should not take it to the bank?
Of course such people must visit a bank every day.

The other day I was at the Price market to purchase a bath and sink and in that market as big as it is I could not find a shop with a POS so I could pay with my ATM card. The traders in that market seemed to distrust electronic payment and wanted cash. How will you not visit a bank in this situation?

Quite unfortunately, I could have sworn that almost everyone believe that banking today transcends beyond debiting and crediting, withdrawal and deposit. Talk about International funds transfer, updating account mandate as a result of recent changes in locality, pension related issues, among a host of others. As advanced as banking seems to be in Nigeria, you cannot do everything from your home.

My Google payment account got blocked during an in-app purchase. Google mandated I get my statement of account and some other documents to back up the claim that I am indeed the card owner. As easier as it seems to get your SOA today, you still have to visit a bank to get the comprehensive one, not just the one those apps show.

Have you ever witnessed a downtime on a bank app before? Try GTB to confirm this.

I have a firstbank account and there is provision for foreign transfers on their online platform. And to be honest I have never witnessed a down time on my gtbank app. I know it does happen though, same as it could happen if you went into a bank.

Just this night I witnessed a scenario at a supermarket. One guy had his account debited for a pos transaction that wasn't successful. His reaction was that he would go to his bank the next day to lay a complaint. I noticed he got his alert via email and I was thinking in my mind "just send your bank a mail"

And believe me most of the things you need done in a bank can be done from your home. And try printing your SOA using your online banking

Truth is this, other than the Verified by Visa Page and E-Tranzact page, alongaide some online shopping sites, I rarely do mobile cum Internet banking, particularly when it involves using a bank's website.

My laptop got attacked by a strong malware and I didn't suspect a thing, despite having SpyHunter on my PC. I didn't know until I got a notification to confirm if I entered into one of my mails from a particular location. The little transactions are carried out on the Internet, particularly when it involves typing bank-related passwords, card numbers, etc, the better.

Stanbic and UBA are so quick at refunding. My last failed debited transaction with FirstBank took almost a week to be corrected.

UBA my bank, queue management 80 pass mark, customer services 97pass mark, general score 95 percent@ Simplydatmat... follow my Facebook page for lastest entrepreneurial skills just search for Simplydatmat and like us

Which UBA?? shocked UBA Branch on Admiralty Way in Lekki has the worst queues I have ever seen in a bank!! Just go there and you will experience it, live! Even the UBA branch in Festac is just as bad. The queues in the UBA VGC branch are equally hopeless. I once spent 1 hour 43 minutes on the queue in their VGC branch. angry

My last experience at the UBA branch customer service desk in Lekki left a nasty taste in my mouth. I had asked for a bank statement.

For over 3 years after opening the account, I have never received a bank statement - either in error or by mistake. Anyway, that day I insisted I was not going to leave without the statement. She asked for the account name. I told her. Then she said she could not get the details of the account. She gave me one form to fill. I filled it. Then she asked for my BVN. I gave her. sad

After 20 minutes of clicking her keyboard, she still came back to say she could not call up the account details. Haba!! shocked She asked if I had linked my BVN to the account. I said yes. If I had not done that, how would I have made withdrawals from the account?

Anyway, after fiddling some more - she called her colleague. That one came up and finally called up the account details. After 35 minutes, I asked them when the account statement would be given to me. They looked at each other. Then I asked 'if they could send it to my mailbox." The customer service rep then brought out another form and asked me to fill it in. She said that the earlier form I filled, was a request for a print out of my bank statement, and not an e-mail statement. Can you imagine?? After keeping me waiting for over 1 hour?? shocked At this point, I lost my cool and stood up. I issued her a stern warning, that if by close of business the statement was not wired to my e-mail, I would write a strong letter of complaint about their shoddy services to their MD at the Head Office. angry

To cut the long story short, at 6.45p.m the bank statement was finally sent be e-mail. Chai!! shocked

So...I have read comments...but I have one question, have u wondered why its a general problem?
Most times these customer service personnel can't help the situation, welfare is poor, most are contract staf with even M.Sc but meagre pay, banker no be banker again ohh. so many policies to follow, pressure from everybody (colleague and customers). Saying so cos I hv been there.
I know some very jolly fellows, very funny but once they sit in that seat...the story changes. Policy says..dont..customers say do, alot goes on in that screen. Everybody entering is in a hurry,
On the other hand I know we could still have Customer Service personnel that are naturally saddists, but I have tried something...I am nice to Customer service personnels whenever I encounter them and my niceness eturns to me, inshort they become my friends.

Nothing pisses me off more than having a lady attend to me in a bank. This has nothing to do with misogyny, most lady bankers that i have encountered are usually rude and don't even recognize that you're a human being. The only time they look at you is when you approach the counter and after that, you're inconsequential. They talk to you like they're talking to a spirit being.

Atleast treat customers with respect. Asking them to smile will be quite a stretch because smiling seems like a sign of weakness for most of them. Customer service is soo bad in this country and nobody seems to be doing anything about it.

Having said that, i think there's a reason why i consider GTB the best bank in Nigeria. They're nowhere close to perfect but among all the banks that i've used they seem to care more than other banks. But a lot still needs to be done.
So true. You are very correct dem go squeeze face like say you wan toast them. The only nice people in Banks are the Security Guards

Nigerian bankers generally know nothing about CS. Only in adverts they form friendly bank.

The few friendly ones are so because of their own nature, not due to bank culture.

A common problem in all sectors of Nigeria, from public to private. shocked shocked

Its one thing to abuse services rendered if you have never been in the shoes of a customer agent. Some ppl dont know how to address people when they need stuffs. They dont know ow to be polite. UBA tries to give the best customer service experience. When i was a corp member in Jalingo I know they gave us mobile device gifts for opening account with them and dier services as next to none. Their CS are just too efficient. They address your needs and even give u oda cost effective channels to make ur transactions.
