Despite having complete papers, police officer beats journalist and his driver over bribe


The incident took place on 21 January 2017.

According to the victim, TV Continental reporter, Akiode Temitope, who also shared the video,

This happened to me and my friends at imota.. We decided to go to ijebu ode through ikorodu and they stopped us for search, after we have showed them our papers, they demand for money and I asked them why we have to bribe them after they have checked our papers and we are cleared, he said I should shut up that who am I to ask him that kind of questions... And I said I am a journalist and not only me.. Couple of my friends that we work in the same office Also show him
ID card.. We refused to give him and his boss( oga Jude) money and he said he will detain us and he said it that we shld ask about him very well I. This imota countless people he as jail on this same issue... I was seriously beaten and my driver was injured too.... According to the news I gathered from witness in imota they all say bad tins about this guy called akin... Pls this guy is a stain on this honourable organization Nigeria police force... Pls do something about this officer call akin.. Thanks

The policeman is not a stain,a stain is a small blot in an otherwise clean system. policemen are normally corrupt in nigeria

akin isnt a commissioned police officer. he is just a policeman (nco) and a bad egg at that. No officer who bears the presidential commission would treat a nigerian rudely. Officers (military et Paramilitary) are well trained to be civil.

NB: NCOs are also properly trained. but there are triats of disgruntled elements amongst then too

When people commit offense these days and are dealt with by the police they run to this dump of a forum called Nairaland to cry without proof that they where brutalised because they didn't give bribe to the police and it quickly makes front page and Nigerians with the ill perception of police back them up.

I blame the Nigerian police who don't use their guns to shoot these fools who disrespect them.


Its high time These clowns who make negative claims about police without proof be arrested and prosecuted.
