emmy4Gold: If the school will make an admission decision with the unofficial transcripts, the you should wait but if the official transcript is a compulsory requirement for an admission decision to be made, then it is mandatory you satisfy the compulsory requirement. It depends on the school conditions for admission. |

joeadex:I suggest you discontinue using your agent, because his advice is patently and glaringly incorrect. While your CGPA is very low, some Canadian masters programs admit students with a 2:2, but you will need to do all the necessary legwork to see which architecture graduate programs do so. Email the admissions coordinators (and/or professors in research or practice areas that you are passionate about) of as many architecture grad programs as you can to find out. I suggest you not use an agent; do all the investigation yourself. All the information is on the internet. Start with Google, and view my next post. 2 Likes |

Thank you God Thank You Jesus Thanks nairaland Praise be to God. I woke up to a new mail from cic. My childs passport has been requested. It has been a long journey and a long wait. For all mother's in the house if you intend going with your child please apply together with your child. It saves you from terrible tension, and depression. Your husband is still your tie to your home country. There is no joy getting yours first and having your child's own denied after. It is emotionally and psychologically draining. I applied for mine first and my application was approved(online) Then I applied for my 4 year old child to accompany me and his was denied.it took only 5 days for cic to make the decision (online) Reason- purpose of visit, ties to home country I was terribly heartbroken. I could not imagine travelling without him. So I decided to reapply (online), but this time around my husband wrote a statement of purpose too for the application and we tried our possible best to use my husband as proof of ties and we made sure to outline all the proof we had in our sop. This second application passed the processing time (I had to send an enquiry email to them) and I have had to defer my admission to May because of it. Here is the list of documents submitted.(these are the same documents I submitted during the first application the only two different things we did are that 1. We decided to list out all the documents we used as our proofs in our statement of purpose, we outlined them properly and thank you to this forum, that is where I found that format of writing the sop 2. My husband also wrote a different statement of purpose Application for visiting visa made outside canada My child's birth certificate My child's passport My marraige certificate My passport data page My passport page with my canada visa(put in the place where his letter of invitation is required) My study permit aproval paper(put in the place where his letter of invitaion is required) My husband's passport data page My husband's letter of employment My Cv (I am currently a small scale agricultural entrepreneur(not yet registered), so the only thing which I have and included was my cv.) Title deed of Two properties in my husband name(a commercialized house and land) Agreement of lease between my husband and his tenant Title deed of a third property (our residential house) held in Trust for my child and so my child's name is appearing on the title deed My car paper My husband's bank statement My bank statement My husband and I are his sponsors My sop (The same one I used when applying for my own but with addition of My child accompanying me) and explaing WHO WOULD LOOK AFTER THE CHILD WHILE I STUDY. I tried to tackle that by mentioning that my classes are during the day which is same as my childs day care classes. My husband's sop (explaining who he is,what he does, his hope and dream for me, his relationship to us, his expectations, how much he is sponsoring our child with, re assuring that all preparations have been made for the child to be looked after by the daycare while his mum studies with pròof of finance to cater for this and finally professing his undying love for us and how he expects us back) I did not do upfront medical initially because I was hoping a medical request by cic would let us know if he was going to be approved or not but When I saw his application process was taking too long (I was trying to meet up with school resumption date) I decided to try to beat the time when they would request for medical and the 5 days it would take to upload the result, so in the middle of his application processing I did upfront medical for him. I never notified cic about that, It just changed to passed in his account about 10 days later. 8 days ago I got a request for his father's authorization letter (using the cic format) for the child to travel with me which I uploaded in his account the next day. Today I got his passport request. I want to thank everyone on this forum who actually take out their time to answer questions and share their experience. I hope sharing mine would also help other mothers who intend applying for their kids. 11 Likes 4 Shares |

ladyFola: ladyFola:I think i remember you and the previous case you had. Firstly, I believe you know what you truly have passion for and what will work for you as well as if or not you can afford it. Having said that, going for a master degree in your field will always give you advantages from different angles. To answer your concerns, 1. You are expected to be actively pursuing your course/study as to which a study permit was issued and if there is a change of situation, you must notify CIC. I'll advise you try to get the master admission first from nig, if your study permit is approved, You notify CIC of a change in DLI(school) while asking for a refund from your school and then proceed for your master studies directly. 2. Only you will know what will will help you and add value to yourself. You should take out time to study about the program they are offering you, if it will work for you, fine, otherwise, you still will decide. It shouldn't just be about travelling to canada, you will have to be highly competitive too, so always choose rightly. Meanwhile, the bold statements are unclear, you mentioned you applied for your study permit earlier in sept and again you just submitted your passport, are you reapplying or you got a passport request? 1 Like |

yorex2011: MEng (Masters of Engineering) is a course based program, meaning you usually just take regular classes, although graduate courses. MSc (Masters of Science) is a research based program. And at the end of the program you're required to provide an original research paper. Funding MSc. programs usually have guaranteed funding through research and teaching assistanship. While in MEng, no such fundings are guaranteed, although you may be able to find some TA opportunities while undertaking the program. Admission Prospects In most institutions, MEng is arguably easier to get into as you don't need a supervisors approval. Visa Chances Approximately equal. But I'll assume that if the embassy had any reason to doubt your motives for going to Canada, being funded by a Canadian institution might buttress your application. But mostly it's same in terms of visa application. Appendage - Career/Graduate opportunoties In terms of careers, both programs open the same doors but one. If you have any aspirations to continue to PhD or work in academia, MSc would be a much better option as you'd have research experience that will support your application when applying for PhD. Some people will say that you can't do a PhD after MEng, that's not true at all. It will be more difficult but very possible. At a lot of schools (particularily in USA), you don't even need a masters degree to do a PhD. If you have strong academic records, good related projects, and strong recommendations, you'll be in a good place. Also, nothing stops an MEng student from taking a professors permission to participate in their research or even switching to MSc. later on. Hope this helped. 7 Likes 1 Share |

Has nybody here had a successful experience in applying to MSc. (research based) or PhD in Computer Science/Engineering? I'd like to discuss some ideas with you. Particularly to Waterloo/SFU/UBC/Toronto would be helpful (but any other Unis is also invited and greatly appreciated). |

thesoj: I agree with you thesoj I don't know why someone will say with TOEFL or even IELTS, your cgpa in your course of study no longer matters. The school will require the transcript to go through every course taken and some schools also convert it to their system. He should just do the required homework by searching the Internet. No harm in trying. Never know when opportunity can come knocking. |

yemdogg:Yes the only complaint was that a huge sum of money was deposited in the account different from previous account history because as at the time I submitted my Sponsor had just withdrawn a huge amount of money from his account like 3m, So my co-sponsors and relatives started depositing money in the account like 4m, The VO noticed this, hence reason for the refusal, It's painful tho, buh I'm sure refiring |
