Rossikki:
Donald Trump is the new Hitler. He is using the very same tactics Hitler used to gain popularity - scapegoating minorities, expressing a wish to make the country great "again", and vowing to deal with foreign enemies by war. Like Hitler, he will garner millions of supporters, many of whom will perish in the flames of his madness and megalomania.
Hmmn, I hope we don't get to that level because war is hell and world war 3 would be extremely brutal in an unprecedented way.

World War III will defy conventional methods of engagement.

Frontlines may be non existent.

Just like the battle of kurst (largest tank battle in history) ww3 will be more of air and naval superiority.

I read somewhere that Trump keeps a copy of Mein Kampf by his bedside. You know he is German by ancestry. His real name is Donald Johann Drumpf. Count the letters...

WW2 lasted 6 years. I doubt WW3 will last even 6 days. Nuclear war can end it all in a matter of hours in fact. If not minutes.

Why didn' t Hitler invade the UK and why did the German army let the British escape at Dunkirk in 1940?
Any idea?

The german were more concerned about the eastern front in ww2 than UK which was of little strategic value. The idea was to contain the brits (most considered them too down to pose a serious threat - huge mistake) The eastern front is where the juice is. It is where Hitler hoped to create Lebensraum.. Living space for the german race. Unlike other European powers the germans have a very small land mass and very few colonies. Hilter note that to be respected as a world power you need huge land mass. If there is anything Russia has in abundance.. It is land. German were suppose to stroll into the mostly under developed mostly peasant country with little industrial capabilities and a largely under equipped army.. It was suppose to be easy pickings.

As much as people love to go on and on about ww2. ww1 was the real deal. Made ww2 look like childs play. WW1 also had the biggest effect on geo politics.

Yes o.. western writers would have us believe that WW2 was about western Europe when in fact the campaign in the east made the western campaign look like a mere street brawl. The type of savage fighting and battle of attrition that took place in places like Stalingrad, Leningrad, Rzhev (Known as the meat grinder) was a complete far cry than the almost gentleman campaign in Europe. Some of German most battle hardened men fought in the east. The guys who fought at Normandy, and led the Ardenne offensive were relatively green and inexperience compared to the guys tired down in the east.

Germany was victorious against the western European powers (except Britain) but Hitler made the same mistake that Napoleon Bonaparte made almost a century before him; invading Russia grin

Oh it was Napoleon Bonaparte that led a powerful French invasion force in the 1800s but was stalled by the Soviet harsh winters...... History always repeat itself

The general misconception is that Germans lost to the Russian winter. i.e Russian winter played the biggest role in the Germans losing out to Russia. This is not true. Yes the Russia winter played a role but the biggest reason why Germany lost to Russia was due to Hitler's sense of invisibility, isanity and extreme arrogance. Germans went into Russia believing they were in for a swift victory the likes experienced in Western Europe. They considered the Russian to be of a lesser class of people who would surrender in droves under the Blitzkrieg. They expected to to be home by Christmas (a 6 months campaign)

This arrogance made the Germans commit the following tactical error:

Started the campaign without preparing for the Russian winter: The men had no winter clothing, their hardware had no provision for coping with the russian winter.

They completely under estimated the fanatical defends of the mother russia by the Russians who in many instances fought to the last man.. This type of resistance was alien to the Germans who were used to mass surrender once a you outflank and surround an army.. it is suppose to just give up and surrender. The Russians choose not to play to that script and instead fought with the skin of their teeth even when all hope seems lost. Germans often find themselves surrounding and then having to take out the Russians from every inch of land leading to very high attrition from the former.

No room for reserve, Arrogance allowed the Germans to throw in all they had.. because they were assured of victory, they made no room for reserve. Stalin on the other hand used his reserve very well. Unleashing them on the wary Germans time after time at just the perfect moment.

Badly trained and equipped flanks. The Germans rear guard and flanks were often guarded by poorly trained, ill motivated and equipped Hungarian ally. The Russian on many cases especially in the battle for Stalingrad concentrated their fire power on the German Hungarian flanks.. decimating them with their multi rocket launcher before encircling the 6th army (Germany never recovered from that loss)

Hitler's insanity halted the German advance on Moscow, allowing the Russians enough time to prepare a defence. Many German general would go on to say Moscow was the beginning of the end for the German eastern campaign.

Also Hitler's obsession with Stalingrad, a city with zero strategic value but sucked in lots of men and resources which should have been heading towards the more strategic oil fields of baku.. Hitler insanity was in full display when he ordered the 6th army not to attempt to break out of their encirclement even when the opportunity arose. Promising to supply the troops by air.

Even at the battle of the kursk Hitlers delay and constant postponement allowed the Russians to have time to a well laid out plan.

in all these Winter role was just an enabler for the Russian's

The fuhrer was just obsessed about Staningrad prolly cos of Stalin. Truly the Soviets are fanatical especially displayed in the Battle of Stalingrad. Do you know that during the Battle of Stalingrad, the life expectancy of a Soviet solider was 24 hours?

They fought with insane unbelievable tenacity.., makes you think for all it's fault communism those know how to mobilise and get the best out of a people. One of the most fascinating tales from Stalingrad is the "Night Witches" The women military aviators of the 588th night bomber regiment. This are volunteer women who flew harassment precision bombing raids against the Germans. They flew mostly old wood planes at night.. An attack technique of the night bombers was to idle the engine near the target and glide to the bomb release point, with only wind noise left to reveal their location. German soldiers likened the sound to broomsticks and named the pilots "Night Witches." this heroics ladies often flew without parachutes.

Is Rommel overhyped?

Despite the fact that he lost North Africa, he's still being celebrated by both countrymen and adversaries. Some authors believe that he's the most overrated commander of World War II.

Share your opinion.

Monty's big failure in market garden alone is enough to put him on the list of overrated generals in ww2. Even when he defeated Rommel in El Alamein, he had overwhelming numbers and tanks.

Rommel's initial success got into his head.... I mean the desert fox thingy after he pushed the allies to as far as Egypt with his overwhelming firepower.

Monty carefully studied Rommel's strategy and countered him. Rommel had the respect of everyone cos he was a humane officer....

I concur Monty was hugely overrated, the Battle of El Alamein was basically won by superiority in numbers of men. Trust the british folks to tout Monty as a great general, he wasn't even made a field marshal. Market garden was catastrophic and made no sense to start with.
