Our very first photo of a Nigerian soldier ,providing close protection. Although he's backing the camera, but notice his special forces patch on the right shoulder.

Also the bullet proof vest is a DICON jungle Cammi vest.

They have a well disciplined force, i never knew their military, Army, was this impressive. They can make a dependable partner in the fight against terror in the Sahel region.
I read about their Military in the 90s, they fought with distinction in Liberia and were recognized by their Nigerian and Guinean counterparts.Nigeria and Senegal are two countries on the Anglophone/ Francophone divide that have a true Military relationship going back to the Ecomog wars.

Senegalese and Gambians are one and the same people. No difference, the same ethnic group, the same language, the same culture, also the same religion. Infact, for 7 years in the 80's, Senegal and Gambia were one country, Senegambia. The push-ups was just a sign of respect and loyalty to the incoming President, not the Senegalese.

The Senegalese are not also a hostile force, Senegal, Nigeria and Ghana only entered the country when the Gambian President gave them the green light to do so.

I don't see any problems, nothing shameful.

Henry240, we need to talk about some explanations you give.... They make no sense.

1. Same ethnicity =/= same political agenda.
2. Common history =/= common current interests.
3. Doing pushups in front of foreign soldiers =/= respecting your incoming president.

If I was the incoming president, I'll definitely sack all the mofies who sucked the Senegalese troops cocks - it's shameful.

I've found them out. They are the Senegalese version of the French GIGN, Nigerian DSS equivalent.

As I said before, as much as Lesotho troops stood no chance against the South African invasion but I like the courage they demonstrated by pulling off some resistance.. Although they didn't get far but they were never gonna easily surrender nor would they shamefully suck cock.

gringringrin , you've just finished me.

Let's agree to disagree. There are multiple ways to looking at a situation. In my opinion, i see nothing shameful in doing push-ups.

I'll post a photo of British soldiers doing push-ups at a Nigerian ceremony. Let me see if i can find that image.

It's all morale!

Move the image to your laptop, the Nigerian soldier standing in front, close to the Gambian flag, and in between the armoured vehicle. You'll notice his hand is on-top of his carbine which is a Tavor-21. Look closely.

All the guys in jungle cammo are Nigerians. Easy to spot.

Best part of Operation Restore Democracy in the Gambia is, the mission went well with no bloodshed.

All of the fun, with none of the destruction.

Dude, if the terrorists aren't tired of fighting, I can assure that everyday West Africans are sick of it.

Nigeria, Niger, Tchad, Cameroun (although Tchad and Cameroun are not West Africa, they are right on the border), Mali, Ivory Coast, coming to add Gambia was going to be tough.

So, in my own little way, I advocated against military action. So even if there was military force, nobody shot a bullet in anger.

We got all the military photos we wanted to see, with the added advantage of violence free. Win win for everyone.

Dude, you were in support of a military action right from the start. Also, you're forgetting a tiny winny bit, Nigeria = ECOWAS.

We always make up 70% of all ECOWAS deployment. Now, despite our issues with Boko-Haram, we have troops in Mali, Guniea, Liberia, now Gambia. We also have Naval assets in Benin and Sao-Tome. That's just ECOWAS, not all of Africa.

Yes, I was in support of Military action, I wanted ECOWAS troops to force their way in and oversee an election RE-run not blatantly oust Jammeh.

I know that's the point, If Nigeria were to find themselves in a Gambia Situation, I hope the Senegalese dogs would bark just as loud.

My point is this military action has set a bad precedent.
