She and her mother were killed and then cannibalized.

King Leopold II of Belgium had founded the Congo Free State and had ruled the Congo as a privately owned corporate state for 23 years, between 1885 and 1908. During his reign, the state became a source of great international scandals owing to the violation of human rights through forced labor.

The militiamen of ABIR (Anglo-Belgian India Rubber) Company, which exploited natural rubber resources in the Congo Free State, imposed severe punishments on those who did not meet their daily rubber quota.

They were required to provide the severed hands of anyone they killed or they could be accused of using ammunition, which was imported from Europe at high costs. The photograph taken by Alice Seeley Harris shows a man named Nsala whose daughter’s hand and foot were cut off, after which she was killed along with her mother.

That Jones town ish gave me the creeps during my pry sch days. Religious brain-washing at its peak. The guy just mixed cyanide into water and juice for the young ones and made them drink it. On 29th October 2013, two maintenance workers embrace each other before dying after a wind turbine caught fire in Ooltgensplaat, Holland.


Two engineers on maintenance routine on a 67m high wind turbine got trapped when a fire engulfed the only escape route.

The two engineers hug and cling to each other as fire and smoke creeps toward them.

According to news reports, one of them jumped off the turbine while the other succumbed to the fire.

What makes this more heartbreaking is that the two engineers are just aged 19 and 21.

I know this one, we actually did a study on it in my 200l, the woman in question refused to marry the choice of her mum and bro which led to the lock up, she was given food once a day by the maid, its reported that when the maid could bear it no longer, after several years, she reported to the authorities who broke in and found her a shadow of her former splendid self...

Four months after being awarded the Pulitzer Prize for Feature Photography,for the picture of starving Sudanese girl on 27 July 1994,Kevin Carter also committed suicide.Portions of Carter's suicide note read:
I’m really, really sorry. The pain of life overrides the joy to the point that joy does not exist...I am depressed...without phone...money for rent...money for child support...money for debts...money!!!...I am haunted by the vivid memories of killings and corpses and anger and pain...of starving or wounded children, of trigger-happy madmen, often police, of killer executioners...I have gone to join Ken [recently deceased colleague Ken Oosterbroek] if I am that lucky”.

Stabbed and mugged, a woman with a six-inch knife in her back.

In 2009, Julia Popova, 22, was stabbed by a mugger as she made her way home from work.

Following the mugging, her body went into shock and Julia managed to walk home, without realizing that the mugger’s knife was still stuck inher, just a fraction of an inch away from her spine.

Thankfully, Julia made a full recovery and no major damage was caused to her body.
