The photo journalist eventually committed suicide after social criticisms of his appetite for awards instead of helping the girl

You'd do well to inform yourself rather than spread half-truths.

Carter did not snap that photo for an award. He fended off the vulture after taking the photo and unfortunately could not help the girl because he was under strict supervision by the Sudanese soldiers who monitored his every move.

How people think amazes me.

Do you think that was the only starving child Carter saw? Do you think that was the only photo he took in Sudan?

Have you asked yourself what your life would be like if you saw all that unnerving realities and realize you are unable to help not for lack of will?

Carter shouldn't have gone to Sudan, he should have gone to the Alps or to witness a protest in Asia. He may also have taken award-winning photos and probably still be alive today. He had kids who didn't grow up to have pleasant memories with their father because people like you criticized him baselessly.

People in Sudan you guys did not help. And then caused the death of a father who had kids who was only trying to help and raise awareness. I'm sure you feel good about yourself. Killing good men who are helping while you sit behind a screen condemning good deeds.

Instead of finding out what Carter did after the photo, you guys blindly concluded that he took the photo for fame.

Since Carter took that photo to today, more than 3 million Sudanese have died, most of them starving children (some probably eaten by vultures), hundreds of thousand have been raped. The sectarian conflict in Sudan continues to this day.

Carter risked his life and the sanctity of the First World to brace the harsh realities of the Third World. And perhaps gave the world the biggest reveal of the situation in Sudan that spurred International intervention that recently culminated in the breakup of Sudan and creation of South Sudan.

Instead of him to be celebrated, you guys are loathing him, seemingly celebrating his misfortune.

Any normal human who has seen all the things Carter saw will be scarred for life. The highest suicide rate in America is amongst military veterans. Carter saw worse.

We are in this country where more than 250 people were supposedly mistakenly killed in a bomb blast by the Nigerian Airforce and there has been no protest. What have you personally done to lend your voice to say that is unacceptable. 1 million people go to bed hungry every day on this planet. How much have you donated to feed these people? When last did you remember these people exist?

Carter is a hero. May his soul rest in peace. And may we not lack people who dare show us things we often don't want to see or believe to be real. While people like you do their best to ridicule good and facts.

Tomorrow, you guys would end up in Church praying to a big man in the Sky, asking for a world where there are no deaths, when you guys have done nothing to help the one you're in.

Rubbish!

Starving Sudanese child is stalked, and eyed hungrily, by a starving vulture.

This contrast of a plump vulture and a starving, emaciated Sudanese girl is striking, alarming and won the photographer, Kevin Carter, a Pulitzer Prize for feature photography.

The girl was on her way to a feeding center, when she collapsed.

When asked about the fate of the girl, Kevin Carter said that she resumed her trek to the center, while he chased away the vulture.

However, he added, that it is unlikely she survived.

Story about Africa.

Death is life and Life is death.

People who applaud those who kill them and condemn those who help them.

Totally undeserving of redemption.

To their bitter end they trudge along. Oblivious of the dire fate that awaits them.

That's not the account I heard.

I read that no one knew what happened to the child afterwards.

But the photographer later died out of depression because he couldn't believe such a thing could happen in a world where so many people have so plenty to feed on and yet this poor child was dying from famine.

Another report suggested the photographer committed suicide because people accused him that he was just after the Pulitzer award and he did nothing to save the poor child.

They said he couldn't live with himself afterwards when so many people started blaming, criticizing and cursing him for being so apathetic.

He didn't die of guilty conscience you self-righteous P.O.S.

He died of depression after been scarred for life by his harrowing experience in Sudan.

The unfair criticisms just hastened his demise.

He fended the vultures. He was prevented by Sudanese military that accompanied him to interfere or help anyone. He was helpless and he felt gutted. He came back to the free world to share a photo he felt would raise uproar and cause people to act. Rather the free world mocked him while others gave him an award rather than do something drastic about the situation in Sudan.

He lost faith in this world. He lost faith in people like you. He felt he didn't have to be part of a world where people would be so unperturbed about the death and misfortune of others. He has gone to a better place now. A better place that you clearly do not deserve to be in.

A couple was on their honeymoon in Australia while this rare photo was taken.

It was believed that the couple entered the ocean together and the husband left his wife lying at the bottom of the ocean.

It is also believed that he must have turned off her air regulator too.

As newlyweds, Gabe and Tina went on a scuba diving excursion in Australia.

Just before this photograph was taken (by an unsuspecting friend of the diver posing in the foreground),

Gabe was seen giving her what looked to be a bear hug.

In reality, he was likely disabling her air regulator and holding her down until she lost consciousness.

When he finally resurfaced for help, he swam leisurely back to the boat and calmly notified an instructor that his wife was experiencing difficulty.

The diver swimming towards Tina in this photo is the instructor struggling to rescue her, but it was already too late.

Back in America, Gabe Watson was acquitted of murder charges based on lack of evidence and cashed in big due to Tina’s substantial life insurance policy, and the dangerous environment in which she perished.

The body of John Torrington.

In the 1840s,John Torrington and a crew of 100 explorers sailed thousands of miles away from civilization in the arctic attempted to find the fabled Northwest Passage that would allow for quicker and safer travel between North America and Asia.

However, during the expedition, Torrington’s ship was damaged, and the crew was forced to abandon and trek back through Canada on foot.

No one made it back.

136 years another crew set sail to recover their bodies, upon opening the graves, the scientists were simply baffled by what they found: three perfectly preserved bodies who stared back at time.

Torrington’s body was buried along the way, perfectly preserved by the frigid temperatures.

Hisashi Ouchi received a fatal radiation dose with a mortality rate considered to be 100%.

Despite desiring to die, he was kept alive in horrendous pain for 83 days against his will.

Hisashi Ouchi was one of the three workers who was preparing a small batch of fuel by adding aqueous uranyl nitrate solution to the precipitation tank.

The accident occurred when they added a seventh bucket of the solution and the tank reached criticality.

A self-sustaining nuclear fission reaction started and emitted gamma and neutron radiation.

Ouchi, who was the nearest one, received 17 sieverts (Sv) of radiation while the permissible annual dose of radiation is considered to be 50 mSv and the fatal dose as 8 Sv.

He suffered serious burns, severe internal organ damage, and had a near-zero white blood cell count.

The doctors who treated them were under pressure as it was considered a matter of national dignity, and so he was kept alive despite his wishes for 83 days before his heart finally failed.
This is why most people are afraid of anything nuclear!

Have you ever imagined what would have happened if he removed his cloth, wrapped the girl and carry her to the refuge center?
.
That is what real help entails. It is just like seeing a child walking to fire, instead of removing the child entirely from the place, you only shifted the fire and walk away.
.
My summary is that, his singular act of not rendering help when it is needed most, might has haunted him leading to the suicide.
.
Please watch a film called 'Schindler list'... Something like that name... It is about world War 2 and how an Austrian who had failed in virtually all business endeavors finally succeeded during war.... Circumstances made him to render help by risking his own life protecting the Jews.. Over 1000 all in the name of creating work for them.
.
Maybe, you will learn what empathy is called not 'creating an awareness like you called it with a likely hidden agenda of obtaining fame'.

The kid got to the feeding center safely, you irresponsible dimbat.

As I said you are an ignorant oaf that doesn't deserve to live.

If you can't pay attention and confirm what happened and didn't happen before hastily passing judgement, you would appear very stu*id. He fended off the vulture and ensured the child got to the feeding center. He couldn't do any more than that. And he accurately said that he wasn't sure that child would survive for long.

Have you ever visited North Korea or Cuba or any of the repressive regimes around the world? Do you know that you can't go with a camera with a resolution of more than 20m in North Korea, and when you leave your photos are scrutinized and questionable ones are deleted?

Do you know how many journalists and photographers trying to get the word out in these despicable regions get killed annually?

Or do you think if he had tried to take that child back with him and got shot by the soldiers who were under stern orders not to let him interfere, that we would have that picture?

Why not you take a camera and go to war-torn South Sudan or Somalia or CAR and take pictures and start ferrying people you feel deserve help to Nigeria you judgemental pr*ck. Let's see if you'd ever make it out of Sudan alive on your first voyage.

So Carter is the enemy now? For showing us a picture that we only hear in the stories and rarely believe?

You are despicable.

I know people like you are used to seeing burnt remains of people, crushed heads of murder victims, starving kids accused of witchcraftcy, shallow graves filled with murdered protesters. Carter was not. He couldn't stomach all the horrors he saw in Sudan and ended the depression the only way he knew how to.

Not everyone is a cold, numb, emotionally-scarred neophyte like you.

Carter has gone to a better place. That photo while drawing condemnation from harbingers of death like you also drew outrage from good people who pressured International intervention that resulted in the splitting of Sudan. While that may not have been enough, Carter saved more lives in his death than you have in your lifetime.

The world loses good people when people like Carter dies. You on the other hand would not be missed.
