9jakohai:All the money they've been collecting what have they been able to do with it? And because they need money to give light 24/7 doesn't give them the right to rip people off when they don't give people light, now that's fraud. 1 Like |

That PHCN company is one of the most corrupt establishment in Nigeria...they will refuse to install a prepaid meter for you and in a month after seeing light for 7days,they then give you a bill of 35k... 1 Like |

the beating is very much welcome. i pay an average of N6,500 every month and burn N3,000 worth of fuel for light every week. why wouldn't i beat up a nepa official if i catch him in my compound with bills to distribute? and if it's a she, i'd spank her and press her breasts.. 3 Likes 1 Share |

silastemplar:Truth is, if they don't bring light, they have no right to even distribute bills in the first place. The bills the distribute is fraudulent. How can one pay for something he didn't use? Mind you, I'm sure you know the current charge is most times estimated and if you pay half, they add it to your net arrears. Now that's just so wrong. |

Rozaay: If you owned, let's say a clothing business....and I came, took some lengths of cloth , and then refused to pay....and the same thing happened with most of your customers....you won't be able to buy new stock, and you won't be able to make a profit so that you can live well. So keep laughing. The more you refuse to pay your power bills...the more your darkness will increase. We need trillions of naira to see light 24/7. Maybe you can help out...since you seem to have the money? 3 Likes |

SalomonKane: In the area served by my DISCO(about 5 states)....70% of people do not pay light bills. The reason why there is no improvement is because the minority of Nigerians are paying for the majority that do not pay light. And the money itself is not enough....we need far more than that to improve generating capacity, replace the worn out transmission system, and expand power supply to all. Better pay your bills. P.S: As a student, I lived in private accommodation for the last 2 years of my studies. The power bill for the place was supposed to be shared equally by all of us...but most refused to pay...and at the end of the day it was me plus three others that paid power bills for the whole building.(And we were not very rich students BTW.). How will power improve if we cannot pay for it? Or you people want your government to take another loan for power...which your grandchildren will be paying back with interest? 3 Likes |

Re: Man Beats Up IKEDC Staff For Distributing Bills Without Constant Electricity by Nobody: 2:45pm On Feb 01, 2017 |
Rozaay: That has been the problem long before 1999. And now that it is private companies that have taken over....we have to pay. Plus....all the money spent has just gotten us up to 6000MW. We need 20000MW and more before things can improve. And now that it is privatization era....we have to pay for the thing. Back when GSM first came out....we all paid high bills for very poor service at the time (That was when SIM cards cost 5000 naira...and the service was poor anyways). But we all paid.....and the GSM companies had the money to improve services. If we all paid our bills...we probably would see the same in the power sector. And anyway.....assaulting anyone is still a crime. 3 Likes |

SalomonKane: That is the problem....you are one of the few bill payers who actually pays....most people don't. And when PHCN tries to get people who do not pay....like Mr Ozoigbo Ikenna....he assaults them, and we clap for him....not knowing that we are clapping against ourselves. 3 Likes |

9jakohai:How do you know Mr Ikenna don't pay his bills? I've seen PHCN bring light for about 10 hours in just a month then bring 8000 Naira bill for people to pay, you expect people to smile about that? Come on. What's wrong is wrong and what's right is right. |
Re: Man Beats Up IKEDC Staff For Distributing Bills Without Constant Electricity by Nobody: 2:51pm On Feb 01, 2017 |
jice: Back when all them GSM companies came out....we were paying outrageous prices for poor services. But because we paid our GSM bills...the companies had the money to improve services....including building of masts all over the place (Or do you think GLO gets money from govt..) It is the same for power. And the reason why we do not have light is because people like Mr Ozoigbo Ikenna refuse to pay their bills. And sadly they are in the majority. THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS FREE LUNCH. 1 Like |

9jakohai: Let me guess. The post of a grade 4 kid. Ask around or just Google how many MULTI-trillions of Nigeria has been allocated to NEPA, IKEDC and other power generating companies. After 56 years, a major crudeoil producing country is still importing fuel, diesel products. Empower your sense.

Culin: Actually I work in the human services field....and I am not a PHCN staff (I even had an issue with them 18 months ago over prepaid meter vs estimated bill....and ended up with estimated bill much to my annoyance.). I am merely making the point that if we want improved services...we have to pay our power bills. (And by the way, that includes some Govt agencies and parastatals). Or we beg PMB to go to the World bank and take a loan for....oh well....N5 trillion naira , just for power sector.Guess who pays the debt back? 1 Like |

SalomonKane: We smiled when GSM companies were bringing us outrageous bills for poor services back in 2003. But we kept on paying their price...and they had the money to improve services, add new services, and also bring down prices eventually.(SIM cards used to cost N5000.). |
