9jakohai:no one says the assault is right nor am I saying people should not pay pill, but your assertion that why we have poor Electricity is as a result of consumption bills that the citizens has not been paying. Do you even know the privatisation of the power sector was only for it distribution? Just like the road seller recharge cards we have everywhere meaning the government is still the one producing Electricity. And you're still saying If we all paid our bills...we probably would see the same in the power sector. your statement is very very wrong as the government itself has not Complained that your statement is the cause for poor Electricity. Instead of us to put our voices together and pressure this people to do their duty, here you are giving excuses on their behalf for why they shouldn't. What a pity |

Rozaay: GENCOS are now in charge of producing electricity. Government now only controls transmission (ie the grid)...largely for national security purposes. Here are a list of the GENCOS...Generation companies...http://www.nercng.org/index.php/industry-operators/licensing-procedures/licencees. They are all privately owned companies. |

The thing I find so amusing is that people always complain of not having light but are ready to fight if they are to be disconnected. 1 Like |

VERY GOOD! INFACT I SUPPORT BEATING OF ANY OF THOSE DISCO DISTRIBUTORS DISTRIBUTING BILLS WITHOUT GIVING LIGHT. THE WORST IS THEY WILL EVEN COLLECT THE MONEY FROM YOU WITH ARROGANCE WHEN YOU QUEUE UP TO PAY! #ISUPPORTBEATINGOFPHCNOFFICIALS# #BEATSENSEINTOTHEIRSKULL# |

Nigerians need to be able to do independent research and not rely on hearsay. Do you realise that for every bill given, transmission, generating and gas companies take up 90%? The remaining 10% is for maintaining the network, paying salaries and any upgrades. They haven't even started recouping their investments not to mention earning a profit. But it's good to complain. It solves issues. 1 Like |

snezBaba: He doesn't have to find Fashola. He had just sent him a message. I'm sure they all understand the message. Very soon the beating will come to them. We should be supporting this man, it's the only way they will feel our pains. Anywhere there is constant electricity in Nigeria, the residence or the hotels or other business holders are contributing money to the phcn boss for the constant light. Once that money stop coming into their pockets your constant light gets epileptic as well. |

yarimo:An estimated bill at that. Bills are delivered constantly without interruption but supply the light that necessitated distribution of the bill in the first place....for where? That guy try small sha even though he took the law into his hand but anger may have caused him to react the way he did. All this inefficient DISCOs should improve in performance. |

jice:trust me , if it was possible to dodge paying communication bills ( no matter how poor their service is) and still enjoy the service like people dodge paying Electricity Bills, lots people including you may not want to pay communication bills. Glo and other Telecoms company will be suffering similar fate the utility company is been confronted with. and why its easy to enfoce paying to enforce paying telecoms bill is you dont use physical hardware that can easily be tapped and the software security is strong. 2 Likes |

Can violence solve the problem of not getting constant electricity? the accuse had to bail himself after he assaulted the lady. it would have been wise to pay whatever he could instead of spending money and time on court case. there are means of addressing grievances of customers against any discos. Agreed that you are giving a bill that you felt was on the high side giving the poor service delivery of these discos, what you have to do is to write to the disco in question complaining about the billing, give reasons why you are contesting it. submit it to them and make sure you have your own copy for reference purpose. if they fail to address the issue you raised, then take it up with them by going to NERC. and I am very sure no disco' s staff can disconnect you since you have a pending case against them. by keeping silence, it means that you already accepted the billing and you were expected to make payment. power sector was privatized because it was not easy to run for the govt as they kept incurring more debt. I have listened to many complaining of pre-paid meter not being supplied. even the govt that can meter every customers did not do so and now u want d private owner to do so. it takes time besides they can only do so if the return on the investment is assured. many buy a pre-paid meter just for them to by-pass and enjoy the free light. the problem lies with all stake holders in the sector. in a nutshell, if you are not contesting your bill, pay up. try not to be like Mr Ikenna to avoid spending which is un-called for. If you have light for just one hour in a month, then you should be prepared to pay for that one hour. Don't let your ability to pay be a function of constant supply of electricity.my submission. 1 Like |
