LivingHuman: The British government this morning issued a statement to the effect that former Governor James Onanefe Ibori was deported to Nigeria following the conclusion of his jail term in Britain.
The statement, however, disclosed that British officials would continue the legal process to confiscate the proceeds of the former governor’s loot, which would then be returned to Nigeria.
The statement, obtained by SaharaReporters, read, “Having been jailed for his crimes in the UK and served his sentence, Mr. Ibori has now been returned to Nigeria. The UK will continue to pursue, vigorously, the legal process to confiscate and return to Nigeria, Ibori's criminal assets.
The UK is determined to lead the way in a coordinated global effort to bring the corrupt to justice.
“That is why it was vital we sent a clear message to the world that James Ibori, a man who stole millions from the Nigerian Government and laundered those proceeds in the UK, has been held to account.
“Mr. Ibori's return will not prevent prosecutors from pursuing confiscation proceedings against him.”
http://www.cambellsblog.com/2017/02/british-government-releases-statement.html While the UK government is working on helping nigerians recover their looted funds, some shameless nigerians are busy celebrating the return of their con master. I'm wondering the kind of message this will pass across to the world, UK government in particular. 1 Like |

roeb1987: those politicians were the major problem of Nigeria. Go to the North, the South, the West and the East one will be conviced that the issue of corruption/looting of public funds is majorly from our political class. what baffles me most is; they will loot Nigeria public fund but invested the loot in foreign countries. when they died they will want to be buried in Nigeria. My question is; is Nigeria a cementry? in order to be free of corruption, looting and jumping prosecusion i know the guy will just join the party that tolerate and accept past political criminals (APC). There is nothing like North, East, south and west, these are words used to divide the south. There is simply just north and south |

In this Nigeria, an average Southerner is a weakling. A born coward with serious complex issues. A fool and an idiot. A slave. A typical example of a butterfly who thinks himself a bird. But this is not even the problem. The biggest problem is, he doesn't even realise he is any of those things.
The only thing an average Southerner is good at is blowing high sounding grammar and acquiring degrees upon degrees but when it comes to things that matter most, he goes to slumber.
An average Southerner has this twisted mindset that the best way to be seen as a patriotic and detribalised Nigerian is by degrading, shaming and disparaging his own tribe for no just cause.
Abacha stole this country blind, such that 20 years after, his loot is still being returned to the country. But in spite of this, people like Buhari publicly swore that he (Abacha) stole nothing. But to an average Southern idiot, Jonathan's 5 year rule is the reason we have no fuel, no light, no good educational system, no nothing! Jonathan is the worst thief in Nigeria's history. IBB, Abdulsalam and even Buhari who was accused of stealing billions of dollars as PTF boss were all saints. Why? Because they are Northerners.
Was it not a southern he-goat named Obasanjo who publicly accused Jonathan of training snipers in Pyongyang (North Korea) ahead of last year's election?? He made the unfounded allegation just to please his masters upnorth. Now that we have the highest figure of senseless deaths of civilians in the hands of both state and non state actors under a Northern president Buhari, have you read any letter from OBJ??
When Shiites were massacred in Zaria, it took less than 48 hours for Chidi Odinkalu of the National Human Right Commission to establish a commission of inquiry and summon the army chief but when unarmed IPOB members praying in a school field in Aba were murdered by the security agents, did you hear even a loosely worded condemnation from Chidi Odinkalu??
Check out the list of those asking that Fayose to be tried for treason for writing to the Chinese govt over Buhari's $2 loan, they are 80% southerners. And most of them have not even read the said Fayose letter at least to know the reasons Fayose adduced in the said letter. These are the same fools who kept mum when Sango Abdullahi, Sani Kaita and some so called Northern elders publicly threatened to make the country ungovernable if power wasn't returned to the North. When Buhari made his 'dogs and baboon' speech and directly caused the death of southern youth corpers, these morons kept mum.
With all the numberless killing of civilians under this regime and its open support for the genocide the world fourth deadliest terror group (the Fulani militant) has continue to visit on Nigerians, have these highly educated southerners bothered to write a strongly worded petition to the ICC just like Nyako, El-rufai and other northerners did to Jonathan??
These southern fools will gleefully yell 'Kanu should rot in jail, he was preaching hate on radio Biafra!' But these clowns maintained sealed lips over the hateful and inciting broadcast by 'Radio Chanji' and Arewa Radio upNorth. Such is the degree of the soulless hypocrisy of these southern senseless hypocrites.
These nitwits were on rooftops telling us how incompetent and corrupt Jonathan was and how his removal was a patriotic duty. Today, things have all gone worse under Buhari and you would think that these southern imbeciles would be at the forefront calling for Buhari's resignation but no! They are the ones defending the Daura born ex-soldier even against the worse things for which they crucified Jonathan then.
Now I know why Jonathan appeared weak as president and spent his 5 year term trying to please the North.
He knew he had nobody behind him. He knew that we Southerners are weaklings only good at blowing high sounding but empty grammar.
These 'efulefu' southerners will never question why Buhari has never condemned the murderous activities of his fulani kinsmen but these same 'anumpamas' will read this post and quickly tag me a bigot.

UnitedSouthZone: Southern Region( SE,SS and SW) We need to unite, if not we would keep being taken for granted. We have so many greedy people who don't support our interest in power.
Lets unite as one and support each other, this is the only way to make Nigeria better for ourselves.
Why are Igbos , Yorubas and our people from the South South not a united front. We have similar interest and policies
United states bombed hiroshima in Japan and killed several people, yet today they are strong allies.
German killed a lot of Europeans during WW2 yet today they are the strongest force in the European Union.
What have Igbos done to Yorubas or Vice versa that they can't work together to be a united front. We are getting it all wrong. This isn't how to play politics.
We all have the same goals and similar policies.
Southern states are capitalist in Nature , Hard working and believers of a restructured system. Why don't we come together like the ex qqamples given above did. The whole point is Economic freedom.
If our eyes don't open we would keep being second fiddle to the North, the Core North(Especially NW&NE ) knows this and that is what they use this to keep cheating us in the southern region and our people in the middle belt. Lets open our eyes, enough of being too gullible my Southern family
They laugh when we keep fighting, its all in their interest. If we are united we don't need votes from NE and NW to win Elections, we have the numbers. We can set policies in which we believe in.
Do you know the north has more ethnic groups than us in the south.
Do you know the fourth largest ethnic group are Tiv people also in the northern region, but in all these they are more united.
They have been using divide and rule tactics for us and yet we keep falling for it and being gullible.Lets wake up Your post would only have made sense if you're canvassing for a united Nigeria and not just sectional balkanization. So ganging up against the North is a patriotic advice!? I wonder how people think! 3 Likes |

I was banned by a mod that is deluded by Political correctness that's why I am using another moniker. If the world was so restricted by information we wouldn't be using Nairaland today. People should be given the chance to be exposed and decide if they follow a particular school of thought or not. I am not calling for seccession just a united south something Arewa shouts for daily for their Norther region yet you decide to censor me.
Now to the issue at hand,You are right, I share these sentiments too. These issues have to be addressed. But the main reason they have not been adddresed is because we have not aligned ourselves is because since our fourth republic we haven't alligned ourselves as a major force, the civil war devastated us, it broke us, divided our region, such that people that are igbo deny being Igbo, We have to look forward now, we have to see how we can become a dominant force in Nigeria politics, it can't happen in allaince with the core north becuase we don't share the same policies and belief with them, what holds a union together is belief and similarity in how we believe a system should be run.
SW,SS and SE believes abuja is too strong and we need to restructure the system, the north doesn't.
SW,SS and SE believes we need resource control, the north doesn't.
SW,SS and SE wants a country that promotes Business growth and competition the north wants socialism and handouts
SW,SS and SE don't make radical decision when it comes to religion no matter ther religion, the north doesn't
agreed. which is why we had a soveriegn national conference under GEJ, which recommended these changes but a group of people came with a mantra of change and the SW which believes these things joined forces with the North with a different belief and they were more comfortable joining with the north than with the south which has similar ideology. if you think 2015 was a mistake i can assure you that the SW will do it again if given similar options. even worse, if u have a SE candidate against a Northern candidate and the SE candidate has these southern ideologies u listed, believe me the SW and. . . wait for it. . . . the SS will join forces with the North against the SE who has their own ideologies. The hatred is real. it goes beyond logic. |

Not released
Let that sink in
Am actually ashamed that some people where celebrating this guy..
Just made me realise that there is zero hope for nigeria.
The protest on the 6th of feb ..let me see how far it will take you
guys. As far as the youth who plan to protest aint in
government....nothing is gonna change..let the youth create a political party and vote themself into power that the way forward..
The evil old men that are in the power positions are gonna remain there for the next 20 years..that how it gonna be..look at obasanjo since he became an ex president he has been controlling other politician like puppet..same thing for atiku he is busy hugging babies all over the state we all know what his intentions are..
WE NEED A REVOLUTION! !!
I lost hope in Nigeria and Nigerians long time ago when Bode George completed his prison term and was released. I happened to be around Kirikiri area that day. I saw a trailer loaded with musical instruments and crowd of people that were there to welcome him and celebrate his release. I also watched the 'thanksgiving service' on tv and was shocked by array of political leaders that attended the service. So, I am not one bit shocked that Nigerians are now welcoming and celebrating Ibori. Very soon, he (Ibori) will be controlling the politics of Delta state and will continue his stealing by proxy just like Bode George is doing in Lagos. It is just a shame of the highest order. I do not foresee any change in our political terrains and our situation in Nigeria with the kind of morally corrupt 'Followership' we have. A wise saying in political science said 'in a democratic dispensation, the Followership deserves the Leadership they get' The unfortunate part of the story is that we the Followership do not recognize that we are the architect of our 'sufferations'. We keep on blaming the Leadership. In the recent years I can not remember any government we have not blamed. If Obama is brought to rule Nigeria, we will celebrate in the beginning, but after 3 months we will be back to status quo because he will not be able to perform miracles we will be expecting. Remember how we all celebrated Buhari when he was elected. When the reality dawned on us that he will not lie to us and he can not perform miracles, our music suddenly changed. I am sure the same will repeated itself when Buhari completes his tenure. The revolution we need is simple, let us be a 'responsible citizen' of Nigeria. I can bet you majority of us are not responsible citizens of Nigeria and we are the ones failing ourselves. That is the change (revolution) we need. 2 Likes |

Slaves who think themselves masters!!
#Copied thanks for this excellent but provoking speech....infact it was a southerner who reported me for a speech like this which i gave here on NL and another Southerner banned me for nearly a month now..... |

DeRay98: A good piece but the Igbos are hard to relate with, if you disagree with them they hate you. They don't know compromise can be winning strategy only win by force. They are very intelligent in most areas of human existence but lack the wisdom to sometimes adopt a different strategy. Until a few wise leaders emerge from among them with a different way of thinking they will always be full Of hate. Yorubas are flexible and know when to stoop low to conquer. As predictable as it seems, many Igbos who reads my post will insult me with vehemence. 84. Maydfourth: Quote Post stealthtiger:
Hello Sir. I have a vision for a united south. And I would like to know you. BabaAduras:
A wise saying in political science said 'in a democratic dispensation, the Followership deserves the Leadership they get'
The unfortunate part of the story is that we the Followership do not recognize that we are the architect of our 'sufferations'.
We need to ask Niaraland op why they always block us from trying to unite southern... If to really like this write up... send an email to maryeze796@yahoo.com. I will get in touch with you |

Another northerner being sneaky, we are wiser now. Let the South unite we would see who is the beautiful bride my not being sneaky but stating a fact, politic is a matter of numbers and the north has the numbers, for the southern region to get power it must align strategically with the north |

This post should be etched in stone. I mean, in what better way can anyone say it ?
Cowardice, cowardice , cowardice. The conquered people of southern Nigeria. We hates ourselves like dogs hates their stools. The early southerners wake up from their slumbering the better for them. How many northerners have speaking/spoken of Buhari's corruption mindset. If its were southerners as president in Buhari's condition/imcompetents, we wouldn't have drinks water keep cup. Just take a look at how some fools calling for 2baba's head for calling females and males youths to rise up for our leadership rights. Ibori had looted, yes. Also impacted so many people and the state positively. But these northerners are looting to bring hardship to all, and the fools using names of political parties to fooled theirselves. #Standwith2baba 1 Like 1 Share |

“Mr. Ibori's return will not prevent prosecutors from pursuing confiscation proceedings against him.”
http://www.cambellsblog.com/2017/02/british-government-releases-statement.html So the dude was even deported, never to set foot on English soil again. And some senseless and beclouded Nigerians are here celebrating his return! Unfortunate. |

Alphacrissy: Your post would only have made sense if you're canvassing for a united Nigeria and not just sectional balkanization. So ganging up against the North is a patriotic advice!? I wonder how people think! bros, your own reply to him would have made more sence if the people you are defending ,(the north,,) are playing by the same rules your own people are using that is if you are from his side which I doubt very much, do you really believe that the north consider the south as their brothers, you just confirmed what the op wrote |

henrydadon: He was deported
He served out his jail terms and was deported in accordance with british law. First a criminal that served out his jail term has to be released by law before he can be deported. If is enshrined in the constitution that such a person deserves deportation. |
