Icon4s: To be quite honest with you, I think Cameroun greatly overachieved at this AFCON. However, I agree with Joebie that it's better (safer?) to assume that they would improve that way we'll leave nothing to chance. All in all, I will expect to see the same Cameroun that struggled against Zambia in the WC qualifiers. O pari 4 Likes |

CAMEROON CAN NEVER BEAT NIGERIA VOWS OGENYI ONAZI Onazi (left) congratulates Mikel for his goal vs Algeria Nigeria midfielder Ogenyi Onazi has further raised the stakes in a 2018 World Cup double header against Cameroon after declaring – Cameroon can never beat us. The Super Eagles top their qualifying group for Russia 2018 and will welcome newly crowned African champions Cameroon in August with the return clash four days later. The Indomitable Lions of Cameroon will be high on confidence after clinched a fifth AFCON title in Gabon. But Turkey-based Onazi has insisted Nigeria will still soar over Cameroon on their way to the World Cup in Russia next year. “I believe Cameroon can never beat us,” vowed Onazi, who is now one of the most experienced players in the young Super Eagles. “Not just Cameroon, but any other team. “We will face them just as we approached our first two World Cup qualifiers. We are looking forward to the games. “We wish to congratulate Cameroon for their AFCON success, they have done very well. “But that notwithstanding we are also working on our own. All our players are doing well all over Europe and as a team we are doing very well. “We wait for them and we will see what will see what’s going to happen as I believe so much in our team.” Nigeria and Cameroon last clashed in a 2015 friendly in Belgium with the Super Eagles running away 3-0 winners. Spurs and Arsenal battle with new challenger for highly-rated teenage Nigerian starlet Tottenham have been linked with a summer move for a teenager doing the business in League Two. Bright Osayi-Samuel is reportedly a target Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with a move for Blackpool starlet Bright Osayi-Samuel, but reportedly face opposition from Arsenal, Everton and a new challenger in Steve Bruce's Aston Villa. The contract of the 19-year-old winger-turned- striker, who was born in Nigeria, runs out in the summer although it is believed that the Seasiders have the option to extend it for another year. The speedy attacker has plenty of tricks in his armoury and has been heavily scouted by Premier League clubs, including Spurs and their north London rivals, claim the Birmingham Mail. Last year he announced his intention to play for Nigeria at international level, despite moving to England from Spain when he was ten-years-old. Bright Osayi-Samuel has made a big impression in League Two this year Blackpool boss Gary Bowyer admits he is powerless to stop the talented teenager leaving. "My philosophy is simple, if people are coming to watch us, then it is a sign that we are doing something right and are helping players to progress," he said. "We have some good young players here and it does not surprise me. If there is a young player playing regular first-team football anywhere up or down the country, then the big boys have to do their job properly. “Do I want to lose any of the players? No, but I realise we are in League Two." Source: http://www.football.london/tottenham-hotspur-fc/spurs-arsenal-battle-new-challenger-12566195 1 Like |

jieta:According to the article, the writer said apart from Ondoa and the two centre backs, you will do well to find any other player who can get into the Super Eagles squad. Personally, I will add Benjamin Moukandjo and Bassogog to those who can make our squad. |
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by joseph1013: 5:02pm On Feb 07, 2017 |
Okay, I just saw this from an article he wrote: Run through both teams, and aside the centre-backs and probably Fabrice Ondoa, you would do well to find any member of the Indomitable Lions’ starting 11 who would get into the Super Eagles'. He said two players would get into our team. He placed Ondoa on may be. He didn't say none of them would get into our team. It's simple english in plain sight! Is this the article you were referring to? |

Icon79: Nothing is certain my brother. You are right about their over-achievement and whether they will maintain that standard is what we can't tell. Nobody is saying the Cameroonians will not or cannot improve . They are African champions and we have to respect them for that. And we really have to put everything in place to defeat them . What I am against is dwarfing Nigeria before them. I dnt agree they have more quality than our team. |

joseph1013:Eh. Man don't misinterprete what I put up there. Note: I said 'not taking anything away from them' I was much more alive when Ronaldo went all the way to win Euros'16 scoring and assisting in all games enroute to the final and putting up a stellar performance for good solid 120mins in d final. I was much alive when Leo buried the his spot kick for Argentina in Copa America final to conquer d whole of America and I was around too during 2014 WC when Higuain was squadring all chamber leo created. Baba, I only mentioned these outstanding players(one of the bests the game has ever seen) in relation to their national team setups, emphasizing the importance of other team team members(from the goalkeeper to the striker). Most of these guys who attack Mikel are quick to cite Leo n Ronaldo. My question is do de play thesame role? They tend to make other roles outside the ones these two guys play irrelevant. Or do u think Barca n Madrid will be dominating Laliga n Europe without solid players in the defence n midfield-but these same players are unsung hero just because they are not scorers. Bottom Line: fans should always learn to appreciate the works other players(which mikel falls into) put-in in achieving a success. I think they deserve some respect too. 1 Like |

komekn:You got it spot on about Okocha. His talent is not in doubt but he played for himself more than for the team at times. Olishe was furious with him in France 98 for show booting and playing to the gallery. Obviously he was playing for a contract which he later got at PSG. I've had discussions with some of his old friends, the image they paint of him is that of a self centred guy. Obviously this reflects on his game. 3 Likes |

you can argue that they don't have more quality compared to Ivory Coast.. Quality don't always win games. Let's make sure they cherish their AFCON cup but miss out on Russia. Icon4s: |
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by goldfish80(m): 5:16pm On Feb 07, 2017 |
TheSuperNerd:Moses plays predominantly on the left for the Super Eagles while Bassogog plays on the right preferring to cut in with his left foot. With the form Moukandjo displayed and his leadership qualities, definitely he can win a spot in our midfield. He is comfortable on the wings and in the middle remember. |
