I understand your point bt its so difficult for someone not plying is trade in Europe to get a call up only if he is a home base. Can u imagine a scenario where Brazil grant an invite to some obne playing in the middle east or in a 3rd tier football league in Europe. Mujtahida: |

joseph1013: Maybe at fullback but what other player would u look in the face and say a Cameroonian is better than. Ikeme? Balogun? Ekong? The best player in Afcon has no chance in our squad unless he all of a sudden can bench Iwobi or Moses. |

This talk of Best, Better and if I may destroy the English language BESTEST player is problematic. What's more relevant is how each individual strengthens the team and improves the team. For instance what's the point of having three Okocha's in midfield without a Kante to work hard get the ball and basically carry the water. Otherwise we will look good but loose the game. It's better to win ugly than to loose looking pretty. Another thing comparative analysis works better comparing like with like. For that reason I would not compare the players below they are too different. Iheanacho benches Vincent Aboubakar/Tambe... Aboubakar is a powerful out and out no. 9 when the going gets rough and tough these guys are like bulldozer, if they don't open road they scatter it. It would be more beneficial to compare him to Anichebe if we can get him fit. That will be like for like. Who will be more effective is reflection of the team strategy and philosophy. What would be more helpful is team strategy as opposed to individual comparison, Zambia won the last Afcon with the lowest quality players but the best team. Sometimes too many stars can be a liability do you think if Cameroon had got all thier stars together they would have jelled so well. 1 Like |

TheSuperNerd:Yes, the guy is a super talent trust me. He plays as a striker for his club and he is not doing badly. He can play on either wings, as a 10 and a DM. I never knew about his leadership qualities till this tournament. The way he drove Cameroun throughout the tournament really earned my respect. There's no way he won't make a combined line up of Nig/Cam team. Unless we want to toe the line of sentiments |

I don't doubt Moukandjo's super talents at all. And yes, for his club he strikes. He's a top player and even when he featured in that 3-0 loss to our Super Eagles under Oliseh in late 2015, he made his impact felt. He was a menace and troubled Ikeme about twice with long range efforts. I'm only asking since Iwobi has taken the no.8 in your 4-4-2 formation and Bassogog takes no.7... Who will take no.11? Who will take the two central midfield roles also? Now focus is on your own preference... YOU OWN TEAM... YOUR VERY OWN ALL-STAR NGA/CAM FIRST XI... Don't mind anyone here... Just give me yours. goldfish80: |

TheSuperNerd:Bassogog is still young, just 22 yrs old. From his profile he was playing in the Cameroun 2nd division not too long ago. He has a very bright future in the game if you ask me. |

Joebie:U are welcome to one of d best thread on nairaland.Am highly delighted reading your views on Mikel Obi and your discussions with supernerd on Mikel which i see as hatred vs analytical arguments. I believe Michael2 w be delighted to read my contributions on this coz w had hottest arguments on Mikel that great guys on this thread needed to come in and say enough is enough, one thing i learnt on this thread is this we have different views and understanding of d game and it take a very knowledgeable guy to really know who is making sense and who is talking thrash. On John Obi Mikel,i w say this and i w repeat it anytime any day that any pundits that say Mikel is overrated doesn't know anything about football and should keep quiet coz d guy has seen it all as a footballer and must be respected for God sake whether u like him or not,a hatred should not be our judgment in analysing a player. Truly Mikel has his shortcomings as a player but that doesn't gives room for(MIKEL IS NOT CREATIVE AND CAN'T DICTATES TEMPO OF THE GAME' HE SHOULDN'T BE PLAYING NO 10 for SE" HE IS OVERRATED' HE SHOULD BE DROPPED)This statements signify what i can refer to as total hatred and any fan that show this kind of attitude towards any player always wanted d player to be at d losing side coz have seen fan who wanted Nigeria to lose coz he hate certain player.I hope u w be happy see Nigeria winning despite seeing Mikel on d field. This is a player that have over 10years experience playing for top European club whether as a regular or on d bench coz i don't want to know and he had good eleven trophy as a a Chelsea player with super prestige champions league as one of d trophy and such a player was being described as nothing,it's uncalled-for and absurd. Mikel Obi career as a Super Eagles player playing as No 10 was due to coaches decisions. He did not force himself on them,he came to camp and always distinguished himself and pls who is at fault but coming here to tell us Mikel should not be playing NO 10 for eagles is some how crazy,to my surprised u are even saying Ndidi should be picked ahead which show something is amiss. My question is this whom do u feel can bench this guy coz u said he should be dropped for no reason.A player can only be dropped if he is not playing to expectations and our last three matches proved to us d guy is still good, world cup qualifying for God sake we won home and away with his input and a goal,so what else again coz am confused. 3 Likes |

Okay really there is no point arguing this matter all over again. If he was that world class as some of you are claiming here, we will not need to have this argument in the first place.. No doubt he stands over his peers in SE at the moment based on records. But come on, however you want to argue please dont use the word world class when describing Mikel. I will see it as pure sentiments.. you wont to be able to say this anywhere and hardly find someone trying to dispute it.. With MIkel there are many IFs.. if mourinho did not convert him. IF he had went to Man U.etc.. I'm not talking potential now. Based on what we saw from him over the years, he could hardly make a top 20 FIFA shorlist year after year.. Please let's reserve the phrase world class for players that are really special. Not Mikel Kog45: 4 Likes |

Icon4s: No, they certainly don't have more quality than our team; however, I think that playing at the AFCON have helped them to jell much better as a team. And it has also helped the coach to understand his team better and to know his best players, and best formation. That's definitely a big advantage for them esp. since we probably won't get more than a couple of days training before we play them in September. O pari |

Joebie:Pls who are d world class players and what is d meaning of world class player coz it's in Nigeria am always hearing world class player, here at my base nothing like world class player. Those w classified as top player are d guys who played or are playing in top division across d world and also a playing for their national team with good laurels to show for it and Mikel is one of them by winning a lot for his club which i w not mention again and winning prestigious Afcon our own version of copa America which is still eluding Messi and European Cup which Ronaldo won which his fans always used as their supremacy over Messi. My guy i don't argue but talk football to d best of my knowledge coz have been on it for long and i know what am saying,so Mikel is a top player irrespective d way u view world class player.Pls go to London and visit Chelsea ground then u w know may be Mikel is a world class as u described it. A player won Afcon,European champions league,Europa cup,two EPL,Four FA cups,League Cup,community shield and 2nd best Africa player 2013,pls rate this player. 3 Likes |

TheSuperNerd: Let's keep it real folks: Ikeme isn't better than Ondoa. Take it from me, I have watch that Onoda dude a few times and he's the real deal. Oyongo is definitely better than Elderson Gosh, we don't even have a right back Let's just put it this way: their defenceline is better than ours - much better. So let's go to the MF and FW: On current form, Ndidi can definitely outplay Djoum And I will take Etebo over Siani any day The pre-China Mikel is definitely better than Zoua; but who knows what the Chinese league would turn Mikel into by September Moukandjo is fantastic player but I will take VicMo over him any day. Alex Iwobi over Bassogog might not be a stretch. If KC Iheanacho would keep getting game time at ManCity, I will cast my lot for him against Vincent Aboubakar So that's the way I see it folks. What really disgusts me about man city are Kelechi's teammates, even Yaya said now we have 2 good strikers. Those clowns never believed in him, never passed him the ball and now they have the guts to say "Jesus makes good runs", thank u very much, so Iheanacho was walking the whole time? The faster he gets out of there the better for Nigerian football and the self esteem of young Nigerians in general. All this says is no matter what a Nigerian will always get trumped. 4 Likes 1 Share |
