yes they did and I respect their gallant men for that ,I feel they shouldn't have gone to this length in countering terrorist narrative ! Just release the drone footage shikena . Gunner shot thrice while on a mounted machine gun means they have to invest in gun sheilds ASAP .
The CO should have scrambled Air support immediately hostile elements were spotted then send a team to mop up,its more easier that way . A lot they need to improve upon and finally Respect to fallen heroes
And also, there's no where they mentioned the use of sniper(s). The first VBIED driver that paved way for the attack would have been taken out far from base if there are Snipers strategically placed. You can imagine the CO saying that they tried shooting the driver which turned out unsuccessful after which MG was employed to kill the two other VBIEDs.

Also, I've opined before that i hardly see African forces technical gunners with Shield...they should take a cue from their Nigerian counterpart. Personnel vests could only provide little protection especially as a Gunner but, Gun shield will keep alot of one's body intact.

British BPST teach KDF how to set up an Asymmetrical Warfare FOB

On 25th Jan 2017 the British Peace Support Team (BPST) led by the British High Commissioner Defence Attache Brigadier Mark Christie OBE handed over a modern Asymmetrical Warfare Battle Camp to the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF).
The modern Forward Operating Base was received by the Armoured Brigade Commander Brigadier Alphaxard Kiugu at the School of Infantry (SOI) in Isiolo where the facility is constructed.
Speaking at the event brigadier Mark noted that Kenya and British forces have for long shared training, same threat and same interests. “The modern Asymmetrical Warfare Battle Camp FOB has been created following several observation in the past operations in Somalia and Iraq during British operation in those countries.” Said Brigadier Mark.
He added that introduction of a modern FOB is one way of minimising casualties especially in the ongoing fight against following recent Al Shabaab.
The British High Commission Defence Attache encouraged more joint exercises between KDF and Britain Forces saying that exchange programmes will equip Officers and Service Members with knowledge and skills of modern war.
British has previously conducted several exercises with the three services aimed at improving the Kenya Defence Forces capability. The battle camp will be beneficial to both KDF and British troops through joint exercises and will assist in mission pre-deployment trainings.
The Guest of Honor Brigadier Alphaxard Kiugu officially received the modern FOB Defence Camp and thanked the BPST for awarding the KDF with such a facility. He expressed optimism for a brighter future of more partnership and support from the Britain Forces quoting several joint exercise done previously by the KDF and Britain Forces saying that such exercises have promoted the fight against terrorism in the region.
Brigadier Kiugu later handed over the FOB Battle Camp to the School of Infantry Commandant Colonel Paul Mwasi who also expressed his gratitude to the British Peace Support Team for having chosen SOI as a preferred centre to construct the modern facility.
The Guest of Honor encouraged the school to make maximum use of the facility. The event was attended by SOI Training Officers alongside Britain and Denmark officers.

AML-90s of the Senegalese Gendarmerie. I haven't seen this camouflage scheme before.

These are the original Panhard model as opposed to the Eland favoured by the Senegalese Army. Note the spare tyre, and lack of a raised turret cupola as well as the missing brushguards over the front headlamps.

NCRMI, NAF ORGANISE MEDICAL OUTREACH FOR IDPs IN LAGOS AREA

The National Commission for Refugees, Migrants and Internally Displaced Persons (NCRMI), in collaboration with the Nigerian Air Force (NAF), today concluded a 2-day free medical outreach for Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in the Lagos area. The outreach programme, which took place at the NCRMI premises in Ikoyi, is part of the multi-agency effort to ameliorate the plight of IDPs who have been displaced from their homes, villages and settlements due to the activities of the Boko Haram insurgents in the North East.

NAF medics were on hand to provide various medicare and drugs. Over 300 insecticide treated mosquito nets were distributed while mass de-worming of children was also carried out. Among those present at the occasion to distribute relief materials to the IDPs was the Acting High Commissioner of Trinidad and Tobago in Nigeria, Mr Garth Lamsee. Others include the Honourable Commissioner for NCRMI, Hajiya Sadiya Umar and the NAF Director of Humanitarian Services, Air Cdre Harold Onyechi.

Tunisian OPV order revealed

Damen has started construction of offshore patrol vessels (OPVs) for the Tunisian Navy.

Damen's Galati shipyard in Romania announced via its social media channel that the steel cutting ceremony for two Multi Service Offshore Patrol Vessel 1400 hulls ordered by the Tunisian Ministry of National Defense was held on 13 December 2016. It said the ships will be named Jugurtha (P 610) and Syphax (P 611).

Citing customer confidentiality, Damen would not provide any additional details.

Industry sources suggest another two of these OPVs - to be named Hannon and Sophonisbe - are to be built for the Tunisian Navy, with all four scheduled for delivery by the end of 2018.

Since the name Hannon is currently borne by one of Tunisia's Type 143B fast attack craft, this would suggest that at least one of this class is expected to be decommissioned shortly.

Tunisian media has reported that the country's Council of Ministers adopted a draft law on 30 December 2016 that authorised the purchase of two 'frigates' as part of other security related legislation. It is unclear if this is a reference to the second pair of Damen OPVs or another type of new platform.
