That won't work. Just monitor for the "ISSUED" on the ceac visa status check site (https://ceac.state.gov/ceacstattracker/status.aspx) once seen, give two to three more day and visit DHL whether you have heard from them or not. Crude but it works!
It worked for me though. Checked it after the first day of my interview, and it showed ur passport is with American embassy. On the 3rd day morning, it just showed ur passport is ready for pickup. My office is not far from the collection center in VI. I just worked in

Your reasons for travel and a suitable tie to your home country is necessary as well as other variables open to the CO. All these will enable the CO make a decision regarding your case.

Did your friend face any issues for flying Turkish airlines into the US? Because I want to fly Turkish airlines as well but the gist flying around is that people are being turned back for coming through any Arab / Islamic country.

I once advice u use travelstart.com,do the reservation and pay money into their account they will send your ticket as soon as money is confirmed.

But our last application in 2015 to the US embassy resulted 2 a denial and I feel if my family apply without me , may be me staying back will be a tie for them . We are both working , monthly payments is good. Bank account is ok . Property in good area in lagos and home town. Thank you.

My lovely people I need your help and advice. Myself, my husband and our baby are planning a trip to the US. Now myself and our baby are British citizens but my husband a Nigerian passport holder. Myself and baby wants to accompany him for the Interview in Nigeria though we don't need a visa to the US only getting ESTA(Electronic system for Travel Authorisation).meaning we might not be allowed to attend interview with him since we don't need a visa. Could we also apply for a Nigerian passport as we are eligible and also book in for a family slot to enable us attend interview together and also enable us a chance to explain to the interviwer that my husband alone requires this visa as we are British citizens and only there to support his application? Will this be appropriate? Anyone has experience with this kind of application or come across my kind of situation? Please kindly help. Thanks

Do not apply with your Nigerian passport even if you do get one. If for any reason the visa application is unsuccessful, you and your baby would not be eligible for ESTA anymore.Apply for your ESTA now, your hubby should apply alone and when asked during the interview about being married and kids he should state it."My wife and child are both British citizens and only require ESTA which has been approved for their travel."
He should have your passport and kids passport with approved ESTA copy, just incase it gets to it and VO wants to see.

I want to say a big thank you to all the contributors on this forum for doing such a great job (Lady Guinivere, Seye West, Omo bendel and other great contributors) . I have been an ardent follower of this thread and had a successful interview this morning. I got to the embassy around past six for my interview slated for 8:30am, being my first application for US visa. Below is the transcript :

Me: Good morning
VO: Good morning, how are you?
Me: I'm doing great.. Thanks
VO: Where in the US are you going?
Me: New York
VO: Why New york
Me: New York has got excellent tourist attractions and sights to behold and I will love to have a feel of such awesome experience.
VO: Where do you work
Me: I work at XYZ Bank
VO: Your designation?
Me: Financial Reporting & Regulatory returns officer
VO: What are your duties
Me: I prepare financial reports, management accounts and render returns to CBN....
VO: Have you travelled out of Nigeria before?
Me: Yes, I've been to South Africa
VO: (Flips through my passport) For what purpose was your visit to South Africa
Me: The previous trips were for vacation and the most recent trip was for my masters degree
VO: That's great. Congratulations, your visa has been approved (Hands over the white form to me and puts my passport aside). Pick up your passport in three working days.
Me: Alright, Thank you
VO: Cool. Do have a great day
Me: Thanks

That is my experience. I learnt that it is very important to have a clear purpose for your trip and be very bold and confident during the interview. I noticed a lot of people were denied visas but above all, all glory be to God.

Once again, i appreciate the meaningful contributions by everyone on this forum, God bless you all.

Thank you so much constance234 for your reply. Can I just ask reason why you said my hubby applying alone will be best as i was thinking he will have a better chance of approval if we accompanied him. I thought i ask to educate myself and others too and also have you come across anyone with our sort of application or request. Thank you my brother

I stated the reason in the original post. Here it is again...You and your baby stand the chance to forfeit youe ESTA priviledges if for any reason visa is denied. Also having ESTA, makes your hubby the one piece remaining to make the trip a sucess.

#In my opinion and what i would have considered if i were you .It is not worth risking your chances to get ESTA with your British passort just so you guys can apply as a family.

If I may ask, is there anything stopping him from facing this interview squarely as the man that he is? Your attempt to backing him up in this kind of case isn't of much good, really. Has he had any travel experience especially to the UK? What does he have going for and/or against him in his profile also in your opinion and understanding?

Run with @constance234 advise, the stuff he asked that he be equipped with is good enough representation of you and the child IMO, be in Nigeria, escort him and possibly be outside the embassy till he's done with his interview just in case this is about morale boosting.

Can't your husband alone brace up, go in for this interview and do this supposed explanation himself? Only there to support his application? #Shrugs.... Well, you know your reasons either ways!

Your husband should apply alone. You don't have to go with him. When asked by the VO what he's going to do in the US, he could simply say that he's going for a vacation with his wife and child but they don't need a visa because they're British citizens. He should also go with both you and your child's British passport also. Getting the US visa isn't that difficult if he's able to demonstrate sufficient home ties and most especially he should be truthful.

Read his post again. Its very very informative and clear.
You do not increase any chance for him. With a Nigerian passport u still will not be allowed in unlless u are applying. If you now get denied, you lose your priveleges of ESTA.
Your husband is an adult and can speak for himself

Goodday House,

I went for my Interview with my spouse this morning, but the surprising thing is that..

The Visa Officer said, We will get back to you in two working business day.

And he issued us a white paper with heading of Date, Case Number and so on.

Please has anyone be issue this before after his/her interview.

Thank you as u respond..

I think the more important thing... what does the paper SAY. We put all of those words on there to help you understand, and I strongly recommend that you read the paper instead of just looking at what color it is.

This is not the best idea. If you get refused a visa on your Nigerian passport it will also prevent you from getting visa-free entry on your British passports. Why is your husband not able to go for a visa interview on his own and explain his situation?

My summit in the US is planned for April 3 to 6. The summit is taking place in the hotel I am told to book by the summit organisers but f**kin expensive yet I booked. I want to spend another two weeks remaining on my vacation still in the same state where the summit is going to be held. I have booked another very cheap hotel to cater for the two weeks. Hope my plans are in order...?

The thing about US Visa application is not how much you have in Bank account and properties you have... They want you to prove your ties to Nigeria and how well you explain why you want to travel to U.S... In short how smart are you in convey your reason for traveling and why you will return to Nigeria, that is what they are looking for... Know this that unemployed people get U.S visa all the time.

You don't have to book the same hotel for your conference, the most important thing is attending the conference and spending the remaining 2 weeks as part of your vacation.. If you can convince the V.O great for you...
