You believe Mikel is world class but Diego Costa is not world class. How can you reconcile this kind of statement?

Longevity.

Please can we leave this Mikel debate? Nothing irks me more than seeing a bunch of faveless people on a forum discrediting another person's pain and sweat simply because they can.

Mikel is not world class to you, no wahala, but he's world class by Nigerian standards and in a Nigerian jersey, that is what matters to us as Nigerians and fans of the Super Eagles. Now, can some of us stop giving Mikel haters more reason to bash the guy? He gets enough stick from these people on a normal basis

Imagine one fellow even has the guts to call Mikel a nonentity, who the f-uck are you and what is your contribution to the Nigerian society that gives you the right to call him that @ nihilist? What sports article have you written? How many football-related accolades do you have? What makes you an authority on football that you will sit in one corner and boldly call Mikel a nonentity?

You better shut the fück up and shove a tampon down that hole in your face.

Everything we've been discussing here has been within the context of footballing achievements, with an implied comparison of a football non-entity like Mikel to truly world class players.

You're surely too stüpid to realise that if my lack of football accolades strips me of my right to call Mikel a football non-entity, then the same principle prevents you from calling Mikel Worldclass, Dumbass.

In fact if only football luminaries are allowed opinions on footballers, then why are we here at all?

Scratch that, don't answer. Just shove your sausage like fingers up your büm and get thee behind me. Last thing I need this morning is some PMSing ho trying to bust my good vibes with her ancestral demons grin

Hardly been playing? Yet played in lots of important games for Chelsea. Not ready to start breaking down the dynamics of how Mikel kept on proving himself to remain relevant and trusted throughout his time at Chelsea.

Mikel has only played 36% of all the league games he had been available for since August 2010. That's a fringe player and a non-entity as far as Chelsea is concerned

I'll give you his performances in the Champions League in 2012 but that is it.

No need to flip out. I have heard Mikel called worse. Fans at Abuja stadium threatened to kill the Big Boss Stephen Keshi.

We are talking of those who played a big part in lifting Nigeria's respect in football. You can not force people to share your views. You thought me that.

However, When I think of Mikel performing brilliantly in games like the FA Cup final against Manchester United, the Champions League final against Bayern Munich and lots of games to remember, someone calling him a non entity does not do anything to erase Mikel’s contributions to the game of football.
thegoodjoe, if you know how personal i take Mikel and Kelechi's matter ehn, whenever i see people insulting those two guys it really hurts me as if na me dem dwy insult. It's really personal for me, if ypu notice, most of my altercations here stem from their being dissed

You must not like these guys personally, but for the love of God, respect their contribution to the national team and refrain from insulting them unnecessarily based on this, is that asking for too much from some of these people?

Most of them have not even achieved anything of note in their fields, but they conveniently come online to abuse multiple achievers simply because they have the misfortune of coming from a cursed nation filled with ingrates

As I said before, I am not ready to start explaining the dynamics of how Mikel remained relevant to star in important games of Chelsea despite the numerous challenges he faced at Chelsea. I am one person who followed Mikel closely.

I can give you an instance. Benitez never liked Mikel. Yet Mikel raked some important games for him. Mikel lost his place in the final of the UEFA Cup after he criticized Benitez for not calling Luiz to order for leaving his role.

Things like these, you do not know. So keep calling Mikel a non entity, while those who appreciate his tremendous impact in the game will keep respecting him

You can not please everyone. Some of them do not know how difficult it is as a Nigerian to keep a shirt in a top club. Just being a Nigerian makes it hell hard. At the end, they receive insults for achieving. You let them insult while you praise and appreciate how hard they work for us and the Super Eagles.

you should do the same, there is no need to give such people or their opinion a sense of worth lest they start feeling important.

Trying to point out his achievements will not sway anyone. Someone whose mind is made up is difficult to convince

Longevity.

Costa was offered £1m a week by the Chinese while Mikel is on £120k a week in China. If longevity was a decider, Mikel would have been valued more.
Infact let me ask you, the brand Mikel Obi and the brand Diego Costa which one is bigger, even in Nnobi town where Mikel hails from?

I've been a Chelsea fan since 2002 and my posts have been from the perspective of an ardent Chelsea fan.

Mikel has never been World Class for Chelsea, at his best he was a decent player. That was it. As a midfielder he was slow and ponderous without the ball and uninventive and lacking incision on the ball which is why he was a fringe player at the Bridge for the better part of a decade.

I mean come on. How can you be world class if you're not even making the team?

Not ready to explain the dynamics you clearly do not know. If you can say Mikel who starred in most of the important games in the history of Chelsea's successful reign was not making the team, what do you want me to say again.

There are people like you who do not appreciate his contributions and those like me who do.

Simple question. Was Mikel a first team regular after Ancelotti left?

Yes or No?

Let's start there.

There are people like you who do not appreciate his contributions and those like me who do

This is different from saying Mikel was World Class. Ramires also made a very important contribution vs Barcelona. Is he World Class too?

let me lend a voice in d debate weda Mikel is a world class or not.Make i use dz analogy.

World class-1st class
Top class-2.1 upper

Mikel (world class)- i doubt
Mikel(top class)-yes

No disrespect to his massive impact in d S.E and his personal achievements.
Mikel held his own against teams wen it mattered most.

Mikel would have been world class if he was consistent and persistent.

And you're right about one thing shaa... It's not common to see an African (especially a Nigerian) playing that role (no.10) for a european club in a top flight league.

I got to see Ajagun during John Obuh era and I think he's a decent player. He has played consistently on that role hence my perseverance on his matter. grin

Africans are not trusted with that sensitive role in most cases. grin

I remember when one of my guys in Yankee met Mikel in Jacksonville, Florida in a mutual friend's house. He cooked soup that all of them ate and the story changed that day. He started calling Mikel 'Mike' and was ready to beat up anybody that spoke ill of Mike.

Maybe it's a similar scenario here, because I can't think of anything I said that could provoke such an ugly response from that girl.

You have a nice list there however I would add Kelechi Nwakali. I think he should be nurtured and gradually introduced to the national team fold. He is the kind of player we can build our midfield around. He must be gradually integrated into the set up especially now Mikel is in his twilight years.
I stand down

Thanks. I don't think he should be called for now until he plays in a better league. Doing that will bring back favourism to the National team.

What about Rabiu Ibrahim as d No.10 for SE?

Haba! He dey alive na. After he left Dolphins, he moved to Panatiakos and played regularly for 2 - 3 seasons before he was sent on loan. Now, he is playing regularly in the Eredivisie with Roda Rothman.

Ramon Azeez club blocked him from moving to the EPL last and threatened to end his career. He was even relegated from the first team to the reserve.

Hmmm, Rabiu Ibrahim! I will add him on my list.

The emboldend disqualifies you from being a good pundit. Your views should atleast be laced with some facts, some sense of objectivity has to be expressed and not the other way round.

Nihilist have been arguing with facts. He never said he hated Mikel, he is only being objective which is the central philosophical concept, related to reality and truth. If you must win the debate my dear Safari, you must endeavour to counter his views with your own well drilled facts not your sentiment.

So I'm going to make the debate less volatile and ask, what makes Mikel world class?

Facts only remember.
