Does Alex really need another rest now? hmmm....
..............................................................
Arsenal: Alex Iwobi Overdue For Another Sit Down

Arsenal’s win against Hull City was a win, and for that, we celebrate, but we also have to be practical about the changes that need to be made. Namely Alex Iwobi.

Arsenal managed to get back three points after pulling zero from their past two matches and it was mostly thanks to Alexis Sanchez and a bit of luck. The Gunners looked pretty flustered early on and throughout, but in the end, it was the three points we needed, and a gritty three points at that.

As such, I really do hate to seem so negative after a win, but as I said, there is a need to be practical here. We can’t take a 2-0 win and call it the start of a winning formula, because it just wasn’t that.

There were some major gaps in this squad today, especially in the attack, which is supposedly the best attack in the Premier League. Mesut Ozil was not the cog that we need, churning things out in the center of the pitch and Theo Walcott may or may not have even been on the pitch. Hector Bellerin did far more than him on that side.

But it was Alex Iwobi that I feel most confident in speaking about. Mainly because we have been here before. Iwobi is an incredibly talented lad that deserves all the faith that he has received. There is so much optimism in his array of talent and his ability to be something special.

I don’t doubt that for a second.

But he was benched earlier in the year when he was finding it hard to be a useful member of this attack and it’s past time for that to happen again. The Nigerian was, in a word, helpless against Hull City. His passes were awful and his dribbling was no coming off.

Which led to him trying harder and harder and getting more and more dejected.

Last time we dropped him to the bench, he returned with more confidence than ever. What makes that even more exciting is that last time we didn’t have Lucas Perez and Danny Welbeck sitting there, ready to make the most of any chance handed them.

As such, it’s time to make that change. So many people, myself included, have been calling for some swapping for a few weeks now, swaps that always include Lucas and Welbeck. This is that opportunity and it needs to be taken.

As long as that will continue to help him become a better player, why not?
Let him be made to work to start again and again. That's good for Nigerian football as well.
I love Arsenal because they REALLY give youths a chance.

This is rubbish!
If you're good you're good!

You people can't even point to one quality black player that has been affected by this!
First of all, discrimination is real. That is an established fact even among native English people.

Wes Morgan of last season was better than any defender England took took to the Euros. He started turning out for Raggae boys not so long ago after waiting in vain for an English call up.
Wilfred Zaha is absolutely better than Chamberlain and Andros Townsend. where is he now?

Alot of dust was kicked up when England tried getting Jack Greilish (spelling) to commit his future to them. Phrases like England for English kept popping up from everywhere.
Mikel Arteta was open to playing for England, a lot of people were up in arms, saying their national team will no longer be their national team if Arteta was capped.
Owen Hargreaves didn't get the recognition he deserved in his prime years at Bayern Munich because he was born in Canada. Apparently they didn't find him English enough due to his Canadian connection.

Discrimination is real in professional sports, as simple as that.

Just came in from watching the games.

Ademola Lookman looked bright and promising but not as electrifying as I expected. forgiveness take ya time. grin Which kind of Okocha skills that I did not see one.

What is most impressive about Lookman is that he is very hard working. He fights hard for the team and a tireless runner. He showed brilliant attacking instincts and has skills to create shooting chances.

The downside was he could not spark the game due to the cagey set up of the game. Adama Traore was also a beast and made Lookman play cautiously.

He made some passing errors and had and missed a good scoring opportunity. Overall, the young man had a good game. Hope to see him improve.

I feel Success is more talented when it comes to taking on players and instincts in the box. A few more games will give me a better picture.

These owngoalnigeria guys.. be like say dem dey follow Rohr everywhere oh..

Rohr – Guardiola Knows Iheanacho Has Class, He Either Play Him Or Let Him Play Elsewhere
image

Coach of the Super Eagles of Nigeria Gernot Rohr says out of favour Manchester City forward Kelechi Iheanacho has the quality to play regularly for the Citizens.

Iheanacho has not made the matchday squad for the team in their last four games, a situation which many believed was triggered by the signing of Brazilian forward Gabriel Jesus.

Gabriel Jesus fine form has not only kept Iheanacho out of the matchday squad, he has also reduced star forward Sergio Kun Aguero to the role of a substitute.

However the coach of the senior team of Nigeria believes that 20 year old Iheanacho has qualities which manager Pep Guardiola is aware of, and if he doesn’t get to play him, he will suggest the forward leave the Etihad.

” Kelechi has qualities and his manager is aware of that, but sometimes it depends on how the team plays. If he (Kelechi) is not getting games at City, the logical thing to do will be to move elsewhere and play”, Rohr told Owngoalnigeria.com in Sagamu.

Exclusive: Nigeria U23 Star Usman Mohammed Jets Off To Spain For Transfer Talks

Allnigeriasoccer.com understands that Nigeria U23 international Usman Mohammed is close to ending his status as an unemployed footballer.
The central midfielder is due to depart Nigeria this weekend for talks with an unnamed club in Spain.

A representative of the former Taraba United skipper recently traveled to Portugal to hold talks with União da Madeira over the termination of his contract, which should pave the way for him to join a new club.

Ahead of Mohammed’s trip to Spain, he is in Kaduna maintaining his fitness with a local side.

I was not arguing with anyone, I just did not like the use of the term 'nonentity' especially coming from someone who is not an entity. I don't know if you've noticed, but this thread was created for the lovers of Super Eagles, not the haters of Mikel and misogynists. We are not here to spit at the efforts of our players simply because they either did not reach the heights expected of them, or their names are not the names we'd rather see associated with good. Anybody that wants to insult Mikel or any SE player can knock himself out on a Chelsea thread, or better still, create an "I Hate Mikel" thread somewhere else. Goldfish and other Respected members of this thread dropped their opinions without using certain terms, you can make your point without insulting someone's person. Especially a man whose name has reached places their names will never lick.

This thread was far better when we were just about 12 people, now everyone who misses his way to land here starts with a "I hate Mikel" tirade, followed closely by "Safarigirl is a rude b!tvh" then "Oh, thesupernerd is stupid" and finally "thegoodjoe is talking trash, that makes him a nobody"......you can stick to "I hate Mikel", but because you have a greater agenda and a long list of people you've been waiting to trash talk so that your dick can grow 3-inches longer from the likes you're sure to get, you have to attack these 3 personalities. How is it a football argument when those who claim they are arguing resort to character assassination even when it's uncalled for?

Then some ghost readers will just unearth themselves to attack me or thegoodjoe or thesupernerd, not even to drop anything related to football, but to attack eg that one insulting people, TheNonce abi na the dunce, was never part of any argument undecided

Oga, we are used to this cycle, so let everyone in the mood to take out their frustrations come at the usual three people to their heart's content.

All I ask for is some originality cuz I'm honestly bored with reading some of these common insults I get to be the recipient of at least once every two months undecided

From your comment, you have spent time on the Chelsea thread. I went there thinking it was like this thread. Lo and behold, I was totally wrong..grin

One guy was busy writing Emenalo is a fool, Emenalo is stupid and I felt shocked that no one said a word to caution him.

I quoted the guy and told him not to abuse Emenalo anymore. I told him that Emenalo is a Super Eagles hero and is the most successful technical director in the history of Chelsea. He is also a close friend to a multi Billionaire.

You need to see the abuse this guy threw my mum repeatedly and no one wrote to caution him. I knew I was in a strange zone and moonwalked out of the thread.

I look up to achievers and work hard, hoping God blesses my struggle to become like them. Find it hard to stomach when people throw loads of abuses on such people.

I think I will make my judgement after few games watching Lookman. When Aaron Lennon came on for him, he could not cause any problem at all. Lennon is a winger I respect. For him not to have it easy, shows what Lookman was up against.

The Middlesbrough team really worked hard to cage him. Lookman also pulled off some nice dribbles too.

Exclusive – Villarreal Offers Nigerian Golden
Boy Samuel Chukwueze Three Year Deal

Spanish La-Liga side Villarreal has offered highly rated Nigerian teen star Samuel Chukwueze a three year deal, Owngoalnigeria.com understands.

Talks are way underway with the teen forward
who was once upon a time close to joining Arsenal and later FC Porto, but the deals fell through due to issues around the modalities of his transfer.

Chukwueze we gathered has been followed by the team since after his exploits at the U-17 World Youth Championship, where Nigeria emerged as champions.

He was the third highest goal scorer at the
tournament, and generally the left footed 17 year old is regarded as one of the brightest teen in Nigeria football at the moment.

Nicknamed “Nigeria Robben”, he will join Villarreal on a pre contract which will metamorphose into a professional deal when he clocks 18 in 2018.

goldfish80:

I think most of the players look at the business side of things when making career decisions such as country allegiance.

Bournemouth paid £15M club record fee for Jordan Ibe. If he was a Nigerian youth international, they wouldn't have paid more than £3M for him.

I think guys like Iwobi have shown these guys that you can be a marketing success even if you play for Nigeria.
Alex Iwobi has inspired a lot of foreign born African players.

Nationality was not a factor in this transaction, Ibe was looking like he was going to be a regular for Liverpool. He Ibe had a decent season, Raheem another Liverpool Academy graduate had gone for £50 million and he was No.1 on AFC Bournemouth shopping list, no wonder they paid £15 million.

His Dad, genuine nice guy made the deal and they gave him his Dad a fairly important official sweetener to make it happen.

I just need to address a point that still baffles me. Someone says Mikel was a Nonentity in Chelsea after Ancelotti. The same person said, I can say that Mikel can have a World Class tag before. Not me.

Did the Champions League triumph of Chelsea not come after Ancelotti? Can we term a player who stood out in three of the most important games to winning their most prized trophy a Nonentity?

Mikel’s reign for the Super Eagles from the AFCON, to the Confederations Cup, the qualifiers and Olympics came after Ancelotti. I do not understand how we can write off such player.

I accept people have opposing views and maybe, people do not consider accomplishments. Despite the challenges, Mikel against Crystal Palace had the Chelsea fans singing his name and winning the man of the match without a goal.

I think the young man has done enough to deserve better than looking for an Avenue to call him a non entity.

Judge Mikel’s career. Consider the barriers he faced. From the battle between Manchester United and Chelsea that lasted about a year. He deserves better.

As for me and Yara Yara, we will keep throwaying salute to John Mikel Obi.

Barkley's Dad is mixed race Nigerian his Dad does have Nigerian heritage but far from deep. But identifies himself as Nigerian scouse, he still deh chop pounded yam and Egusi.

However, Barkley exposure to Nigerian culture is very weak at best.

I do not think, Kelechi is that pacy to be honest.

I have expressed the same observation but in comparison to Sane, Gabriel and Raheem some disagreed with me vociferously.
