Pidgin2: Recession doesn't just appear. It always starts gradually and could triple in effect based on extenuating circumstances such as a sharp drop in Crude oil price. Nigeria was in a full-blown recession from 2014 when FG started borrowing to pay salaries. I digress. People don't migrate just because of the recession but because of the hope for a better quality of life that is commensurate with one's effort. Your argument implies that because one IG of Police stole so much and has billions of Naira then Nigeria is good and because one Nigerian failed in the USA then Emigration from Nigeria to the US is bad. That's a specious way of arguing. 5 Likes |

Pidgin2:In a country were citizenship isn't given, taxes are infused into everything and so many other benefits that are naturally attached in other civilized countries, when u reside for long aren't found here. Then,it becomes also my choice to migrate to some more permanent society, where my kids can get certain benefits,u know what i mean. Things are a bit soulless here and imagine having your child here and no citizenship is given even if you have contributed so much into the society. Answering your sarcastic question, people go the length and breadth of this world because of different reasons. If you don't have the answer to my question, kindly put ur mouth where it belongs. 4 Likes 1 Share |

azarenka: You claim to be a graduate yet you write like this? You could have simply improved on it and then apply for a job and see if you wouldn't be called for an interview. So Dubai is soulless and your kids can't claim citizenship? That's to show you that no where is perfect dear. I'm not being sarcastic, I was simply trying to make a point 1 Like |

azarenka: Australia is quite expensive in terms of cost of living from what I hear but this is compared to Britain (where I grew up, so it is quite difficult for me to give a comparison with Canada). I should be going to Sydney next month on work, so i'll be able to hopefully judge better. Don't know much about Canada but I have a friend (Bangladeshi) from Uni who moved over there a couple of year ago and seems to doing quite well. He came as a skilled migrant, I believe. 1 Like |

Pidgin2: Don't derail the thread. How many times was our over valued currency adjusted between mid to late 2014? Did our revenue not shrink within those 6 months? Did FG not resort to borrowing to augment salary demands? Did the price of things go up or come down those months? Don't take my word for it. Listen to the CBN Governor appointed by your hero: http://www.financialwatchngr.com/2016/09/19/nigerias-economic-recession-how-we-got-into-trouble-godwin-emefiele/ Pidgin2: Sorry too but only a delusional person will see red and call it black. Nobody said there is no hope if we are talking in terms of kismet. Alikote can stumble onto $ 7.9M that someone from your Hero's time had stolen and stashed away and his fortune will change. Till then, if he is describing his chances as a Nigerian earning 400k in a servicing company (not an IOC or NOC) then he stands a better chance of success in Canada than Nigeria. The facts are glaring. 10 Likes |

azarenka: Did you do your research ? I would never suggest anyone to migrate to a place where they can't get citizenship. But when you're desperate to leave Nigeria, I can't blame a person. Canada and Australia are very similar countries. One has good weather while the other doesn't lol. But on a serious note, Canada is looking for immigrants, preferably SKILLED. Under what program do you want to migrate ? Do you have a degree ? Plan well this time around. Canada takes in around 250k people per year. https://www.thestar.com/news/canada/2017/02/08/canadas-population-grew-17m-in-5-years.html |

All your suggestions/contributions are good, but like i said previously ''life is choice driven'' . People migrate for different reasons ranging from social amenities, health care, security,Jobs etc. If I migrate today to any country, I guess I have my reasons and owe nobody any explanation. About the topic, It depends on the visa that the OP is travelling with and again his intentions. If you are travelling to Canada to be richer than Dangote or Adenuga, please stay back and enjoy your 400k job but if you are travelling to WORK HARD and enjoy the basic amenities of life and probably create a better future for your kids then travelling abroad can definitely help you achieve this. Lastly, if you are SUFFERING in naija and see a legit way of travelling abroad plssss dont look back abeg, the light @ the end of the tunnel in naija is off and no hope of rekindling it. I will glady look my kids in the face and tell them I brought you here to give you a better life, I am not into competition with anybody.I work in naija for 8 years and my supervisors were like gods who determine your joy and sadness but guess what, nobody gives a flying Bleep about you here, come do your work very well and go home ,though there is subtle racism but who cares. After graduation , my wife spent 3 years looking for a job in naija all to no avail and she came here and studied health care aid, she got a job after a month (though part time) but she can buy things for herself and send little money back home. If you like naija stay there, and if you like abroad then migrate but dont come with the mindset that you will buy private jet from hustling here. 17 Likes 1 Share |

Eruditor: Take a few minutes to objectively read through these reports, it wasn't written by Godwin Emefiele rather economic analysis from different reputable economists (you need to broaden your view) http://educacinfo.com/economic-recession-nigeria/ http://www.bbc.com/news/business-37228741 https://www.google.com.ng/amp/s/www.bloomberg.com/amp/news/articles/2016-08-31/nigeria-slump-deepens-as-economy-shrinks-2-1-in-second-quarter http://www.vanguardngr.com/2016/06/one-year-after-nigerias-economy-under-buhari-on-knees-bloomberg/ History seems to be repeating itself here but I doubt if you have ever read a history book in your life http://www.news24.com.ng/Elections/MyNews24/History-of-Buhari-20150127 So, in your opinion, until someone stumbles upon $7.9m careless cash before he can make it here? ^^^ This madam sef, All the links you posted are saying the same thing: Nigeria is currently in a recession. Timhortons: I love sincere talks like this. Most people complain about corruption and yet the easiest way to be a millionaire here in Nigeria is through corrupt practices. By evading taxes, not paying workers salaries while you fly aimlessly round the globe, by making sure one trades with proceed of corruption. 419,online frauds etc. However those who go into the legit ones are frustrated out with issues such as government policies, unhealthy business rivalry by black cooperations, lack of start up capital, environment and host of business suffocation strategies. My God help us in this country. If you have the opportunity to move abroad legitimately kindly pack your bag. This is not because of you but because of your children and their future. 2 Likes |

Pidgin2: You know what is funny: I took the pains to go through each of the links hoping you understood what was said to you or if you even read the links you put there. You did neither. If a Plane takes off in Nigeria and 10mins in flight the Pilot realizes 2 of his engines have given way. Then he tries everything possible to salvage the situation but the Plane crashes in Ghana. Your argument will be that the Pilot made a mistake in Ghana(resulting in the crash), even when you have evidence that few seconds after take-off he complained to the maintenance engineer at the Towers that his 2 engines had packed up. Did you also realize that your first "objective link" said Nigeria's previous recession years included 1981, 2004 and 2009? LOL Knowing you, I expect you to come back again to discredit your own links one by one because none of them made any case for you and instead of taking the option to learn, you trudge on, on this your ignorant path to empty drivel, dumb hero-worship/ lionization of past charlatan leaders and selective patriotism. And your last question to me just exemplifies what someone else said (which is that you are arguing for the sake of arguing). FYI, if someone was to make it in Nigeria based on 400k in today's economy, it would be more serendipitous than by analysis of factors that you either told blatant lies about, or conjured up in your own chimerical and delusional world. 9 Likes |

ApexTitan: I didn't even see this before I replied. I won't have bothered. Apart from what you said above, she was trying to argue that nothing leading into 2016 caused the recession when the facts are staring her in the face. The OP who (made that statement) did so to show her that generally things in Nigeria have been getting bad since time immemorial but she is trying to put a spin on it by claiming 1999-2015 were the best ever times in Nigerian history. 4 Likes |

Eruditor: Hey, you can rant all you like, I wonder what your epistle is for? I don't know if you live abroad or you live in Nigeria but you should be ashamed of yourself regardless. I see you did not analyse the Bloomberg report, you refused to make sense of the other reports no wonder you keep advocating that people should leave the country, no wonder you can't see opportunities even the ones under your nose. It seems you want others to make the same mistakes you made because I don't understand why you are so unpatriotic, i'm sure you are pained about being unable to return or something. People make it with 400K, that's a good salary even in this economy, that's a fair salary, he conveniently save 200K out of it (especially being single) that's like a million after 5months. Remember he isn't paying $2500 for rent per month so please don't bother converting it to dollars (we are not in yanky) his house rent might be around N350K to N450K, which should get him a place close to his office to avoid stressful commuting (if he works in Lagos, one bedroom flats in good locations go for this price range) People like you don't believe in building wealth, all you want is for large sums of money $7.9m to be dropped at your feet to squander, it's unfortunate. |

Pidgin2: What is your own epistle for? All the links you posted said "Nigeria is in a recession"- none said the recession began today. Some even went as far as saying unwillingness to save in time of many and lack of diversification by your hero caused it. What is the importance of such verbiage to the discourse? As for the rest of your garbage, I won't derail this thread any more than it currently has courtesy you. Keep telling yourself lies that someone who earns 400k can save 200k each month. Why not say he can save the whole 400k a month and have 2M after 5 months? Hahahaha @ 450k rent. I said Self-contained apartments in VI/Lekki go for close to 1M a year. If he pays 450k anywhere that would never be close to where he works not to mention, transport/fuel, generator, feeding etc. Your last statement is BS I am sorry. Anybody can build wealth wherever. The question is, which country provides one a greater probability of creating wealth? You say Nigeria and I say, in this case, Canada. If you can prove your case with facts, do that. Stop peddling lies. That's all. 9 Likes |
