Ioannes: Now that APC is charge and PDP out, has the govt confirmed that $20bn was actually "missing" or "unremitted"? Has any been charged for the "missing" or "unremitted" funds? Remember that Dasuki's case is a different case. Remember that Ibori was jailed in the UK. Dieziani is now in the UK but how come the UK govt hasn't prosecuted her like they did Ibori? There has always been corruption in all Nigerian govts but I want the govt to confirm the case of the $20bn since they have access to all the records in the CBN, NNPC and FAAC 1 Like |

Obviously, GEJ's government is the worst thing that can ever happen to a nation. It was years for the locusts and caterpillars; the greedy, prodigals and destroyers of good things. From history, I doubt any country on the face of the earth has had it this bad. That Nigeria still exist on the world map is a miracle which attests to the benevolence of Providence! 1 Like |

Fifteen months later, the PricewaterhouseCoopers forensic audit report not only affirmed NNPC’s long held position that allegations of unremitted crude oil revenue or missing oil revenue – whether $49.8bn or $20bn or $12bn or $10.8bn – was a farce from day one, it also answered the questions on kerosene subsidy. The report asserted that the entire revenue accruable to the Federation Account during the period under investigation was $50.81 billion and not $48.9 billion as alleged by Sanusi. The amount has been fully accounted for and clearly categorised under the various components of the accruable revenue. The report confirmed the earlier position of the Minister of Petroleum Resources, Mrs Diezani Alison-Madueke, that subsidy on kerosene was still in force as the Presidential directive of October 19, 2009, was not gazetted as required by law, and that there exists no other legal instrument cancelling subsidy on kerosene. http://m.guardian.ng/opinion/columnists/akaniyene-how-senate-forensic-audit-vindicated-nnpc/ 2 Likes 1 Share |

Hemanwel: why we are in recession. We want to move forward as a nation yet, we keep dwelling in the past. We want to come out of recession yet,we keep focussing on what happened in the past. You want to run away from your past because it stinks? You can't wish your past away like that, face it and extract the needed lessons from it to serve as the answer for today and tomorrow. Any one who squandered his productive youth days or days of plenty will always resort to begging for a living tomorrow. From 1999 till about 2007, politicians were blaming the military for rot in the system and looting of the economy. When oil prices hit the roof again and there was plenty they looted it. Now, they have the likes of you to help them avert the blame for the cause of recession. PDP blamed the military before them, they squandered 16yrs and now shifting the failure of the system on an administration that's less than 2yrs in office. Keep Kwiet |

I think we need to come as one against this politicians. Our ethnic and religious divide is a plus to them. When they loot they are one but they indirectly instigate hatred amongst their supporters/followers. Nigeria is in recession today because of mismanagement of the previous administrations. In a time of recession like this, we are expected to take from our reserve to cushion the effect, but this is a reserve that we never build during the oil boom. Next is to go borrowing, but who will borrow you when you don't have reserve collateral. Next is how do we increase our GDP to go out of the recession, how do we increase our reserve to protect the value of our currency considering the fact that Nigeria is a mono economy country that depends mainly on crude oil. Crude oil is no longer booming, market is saturated, production has dropped and market value has fallen drastically. Diversification is the answer but not a short term solution. 9.8million dollars looted fund was just discovered from former GMD of NNPC. That money is enough to revive a textile industry that would employ close to a thousand unemployed youths. Just imagine how much he must have looted considering the fact that he left office 3 years ago and knowing fully well that corrupt public office holder are being crack down, you will agree with me that the recovered loot is just a left over because he can't just loot only 9.8million dollars and be watching it all this years. Image the actual looted fund was recovered and same recovered from 100 more public office holder from both serving and past. Image the money invested in agriculture imagine investing in the textile industry imagine imagine then now imagine how many youths would be gainfully employed. Please let stop supporting be it current or past government. This people are not representing us but rather themselves and their family. Who can image the figures looted, if buhari government had not reveal nobody would know. Same looting happen during obasanjo era. But nobody exposed them the way this government is exposing the last administration. We need to come as one and fight a common enemy. 1 Like |

That is because at that time a barrel of crude oil is above $100. The then government will rather patch up the economy than to let Nigerians know the truth. |
