Not okay...I think it's vague. You didn't state specifically why you want him to be your academic supervisor. You didn't read his profile, journals, publications etc. With this mail, I doubt if he'd be motivated to work with you. You said you love his research work....what research work ? You didn't mention the research work in particular. Being a professor, i am sure he must have written several works some of which might not even be in the area of your proposed program. Please be specific when trying to mail a potential supervisor. To me this your mail is generic and it sounds like something you'd send to other professors in the department and trust me, the professor will see through it.

I beleive if you want to work with a somebody you shld write him and tell him what you have done previously that is closely related to his field. you need to state your research experience expecially your Bachelor project, just fine tune it in line with his research intreset.

Check EE/PR thread section. I read few banks and one org at airport give out about usd4k if you have valid visa, plane ticket, etc. Just that, they say on the thread, you will likely get the amount on your day of travelling or about to board plane. Like buying gala and drink or bread style on Lagos-Ibadan expressway.

@skylar2020 I was expecting your mail because I lost my fone. By God's grace I was assisted by a moniker here and several others. As I told you before Computer Sci Msc in Usask is very competitive even you will see that on their website that admission is not easy with ur husbby CGPA. 3.74 is very low to what dey required. I also assisted a friend recently to gain admission into Usask with a cgpa of 3.39...Chemical eng.Msc but Comp Sci too dey competitive. Check your emails for Dos samples mail I sent to you to find supervisor. Please always state your research purpose or topic.

similarly, research masters program is highly competitive due it's funding also involved.coursework masters program does not require securing a supervisor which also saves you the stress and the reluctant nature of professors responding to your mails due to some factors but all depend on what an individual wants. getting masters admission in CANADA is not always easy and depending on the type of discipline and qualification.Securing admission towards FALL start is always rushy and competitive with voluminous applications from applicants from other countries like the ASIANS than winter/summer start.in addition this is why some agencies in Nigeria are not always interested/reluctant in processing masters admission for their clients but would want to shift your interest to PGD(C) or refer you to other countries like Ireland,UK,US,Australia.
madam keep trying for other schools there. have you checked uni.Regina or uni.Carleton?

My Email format to supervisor. Got about 6 supervisors, after emailing every prof, with similar interest as mine, in all univerisity in Canada that offer my program.

Dear professor .......,

Name and location. UG research topic and findings.

Grades, awards, publications, etc. (Good if you have high grades like 80% GPA). What you are doing currently if it is related to the program.

What the Prof is doing or have done and how and why I believe it is related to my past study (if I don't have proposed research) and or propose study(if I have one). Plea to support my application to the school.

Attached are my transcript, cert, proposed study (if I have) and CV containing the email address of my UG thesis supervisor. Thank you.

Regards,
Name.

I include UG supervisor name because I still work in his/her lab. If you don't have strong communication with yours, don't specify it in your email or CV. It can be disastrous or very rewarding cos some professors can contact him/her before saying yes to you.

Finally, keep editing and sending it to many. Took me about 3 months of serious supervisor search and prayers before I could get the ones I have. I value them die. Finally, I couldn't apply to all the schools due to limited fund for application fee.

Supervisor search is a serious work for a very serious mind and not a guarantee of admission. Be warned. cool

Sincerely, if one can truly afford the money involved, I will support related coursework or PGD sef. Some of them already know their admission fate, while research masters are waiting for panel of judges decision. The endurance requirement of research masters in canada is very high.

The comment of successful candidates in Canada that the stress is worth it, is something that keep some of us going. cry

Exactly, but research master or phd program will give you funding,it is a little difficult because in Nigeria we do not do research majorly its coursework. So for him to get a potential supervisor,he needs to write intensively about his past research. But he should opt for course work master program. That will be better.

Has anyone on this forum been accepted to the program before?

who is saying that 3.74 CGPA is low??....please that CGPA is very ok for admission...the only issue there is the last two years should be more than 80%. some people with 4.00 CGPA with their last two years less than 80% end up not getting admitted....

oga...most schools in canada require second class upper. unless otherwise stated that a 4.00 CGPA of undergraduate is required like in UBC. one should be very much concerned about his/her last two years. there is a clear distinction between GPA and CGPA...that lady was denied based on her GPA(which is her last two years). 3.4 and 4.1 should give approximately 75%. of which 77%-80% is required.
