michaelbelgium:
who is saying that 3.74 CGPA is low??....please that CGPA is very ok for admission...the only issue there is the last two years should be more than 80%. some people with 4.00 CGPA with their last two years less than 80% end up not getting admitted....
michaelbelgium:

oga...most schools in canada require second class upper. unless otherwise stated that a 4.00 CGPA of undergraduate is required like in UBC. one should be very much concerned about his/her last two years. there is a clear distinction between GPA and CGPA...that lady was denied based on her GPA(which is her last two years). 3.4 and 4.1 should give approximately 75%. of which 77%-80% is required.
Actually, academically,it is not a LOW cgpa but for the program applied for, her husband's CGPA was low when in comparism and in competition with other applicants with stronger CGPA and application.

Admission always is not a function of CGPA alone. Other factors are considered and moreso when there are quite a number of application but limited acceptance space, So meeting the minimum requirement may not be enough.
Also, the last too years of study is only considered when they consider you a strong applicant. It is not a general rule of consideration. Your whole CGPA is still calculated and considered and must meet their benchmark using their scale (4.0 and it's corresponding percentage for canada). The last 2 years are considered because core courses and some element of research are done during these times. It will given them some guiding as to your capacity to complete the program. It could be seen as good enough for admission or not.

Well,I personally think the competition is high combined with limited space.I also got a rejection from UoM computer science coursework option.I had a CGPA of 4.35/5.00.Also the least of my GPA is 4.2.The CGPA of my last two years is around 4.43.I am patiently waiting on UoR.

You should do this on Google pls.. Copy and put part bolded on Google ....to save everyone including you the stress...
Note that Anderson is a private college ... Although it has a DLI number and hence approved to host international students.
Good luck!

bro i gave you clue on this your 2nd application after your first refusal and with your gcms case note i read of which I now see has helped reduce some refusal factors to just ''PURPOSE OF VISIT'' but you later cut me off or deleted me on whatsapp/from your phone and had your way. meanwhile i knew the embedded system is not closely related to your mechanical engineering and/or employment but has just partial relationship to your job activity of which i told you then but you said it is and progressed with your application.I had no choice than to let you go ahead. sorry for the delay. change that pgd program or you try coursework masters program in less competitive schools in canada

na wa na real wa!!!! to me you showed enough commitment to being a genuine student. what i noticed about these VOs on pgd/pgc applicants is that, once either of your prev edu or present work experience is not inline, purpose of visit bcoms auto for them to thick, #deepestsigh. the bolded above is the only thing i see that doesnt connect well with ur prev education. the funny thing now is that if u choose mech engr pgd, they might fault it too cox its not inline with ur work experience.

Hello house @osemigho, Iyalodeofcanada, erayte, megziflips and others.
Pls this was the reason my hubby's application at uni of manitoba was refused.
below was the email sent to his email.

Good morning.  Your application to the coursework MSc program in our department was rejected because your gpa was lower than what the committee was willing to consider.  The coursework program is extremely competitive due to the fact that we only admit a small number of new students each year (this year only 3-4 new students will be accepted).  Therefore, only students with the highest gpa’s will be considered by the committee.

We will probably not be admitting any new students in the Winter term, but if we do it will be one or maybe two new students, if space opens up.  That means that, again, the gpa requirement will be very high.

If you have any further questions please let me know.

please are there other schools he can apply to that will accept him with CGPA 3.74.
his last two years GPA were 3.429 and 4.107.
Pls what university can he apply for that will take him msc in comp sci
thanks in advance for any response given.

For research based programs he hasn't many options, but if you're willing to expand the 10k CAD tuition limit, there are quite a few you can consider, like Windsor, Guelph, Lakehead, Brock.

Or you can apply to the non research based programs in the lower ranked schools on the list I gave you previously.

gurus in the house, i applied for M.Eng Mechanical Engineering at New Brunswick and got a mail which ststes that "Thank you for submitting your completed application.
Please note there may be outstanding supporting documents we require to complete the assessment of your application.

i uploaded an unofficial transcript and i am yet to send the official transcript however, they stated in their website that applications can be assessed with unofficial transcripts. should i wait further or send the official transcripts asap?

i applied to 3 schools and dont see it wise to obtain transcripts for each of those schools. it costs 35k for each transcript
i need help pls...thanks

Email them(program cord and or graduate study administrator) to know what the outstanding documents are.

Each program is unique and you must treat them that way. Don't send.

Before you E-mail them, be sure to know that they have not request you to provide any other supporting document. If you want to know if you're to provide anything, just log into your student dashboard. In your applicant dashboard, the school will update you for anything they need. Whatever they need will be stated, whatever they've recieved will be stated there.

I was told today that Braemar college offers a one year pre-medcine university preparation program which after undertaking in the program one can move to university of Toronto, university of waterloo, ryerson university or York University for medicine.
Some others have told me you have to have a degree first before attempting medicine in Canada

Please anyone have any idea on how Braemar college 1yr pre-medcine works?

Don't dash them your naira again with this program! If you keep trying with it, you will pay the other half of your tuition as processing fees to CIC accra office.

Endeavour to get a master admission in the field you've had more activities in.

Ifyemekaonwuka:
...
I have always been a lover of the arts in every form (infact my choice of study in university would have been creative arts but i guess we know how the story goes) While in school i gravitated towards the arts, i had a short training as a makeup artist and have never looked back. In 2011 i traveled tp the US and took a short diploma course in beauty, high fashion and character makeup at Cinema Makeup School Hollywood LA. I came back and joggled practise as a lawyer week days and makeup artistry during the weekends. After building a good client base,in 2013 i made the decision to follow my makeup passion full time, i registered my business and opened up a studio and ive never looked back.

I now want to expand my makeup business to include an international standard spa and so i decided to take a diploma course in esthetician and spa management at Humber College which is 2yrs long(i have been offered an admission already)...
While applying for a TRV with a diploma admission is always risky, it would help your application if you can quantify to the VO the potential financial impact that the diploma would have on your business. Quantifying the impact of the diploma course would enable the VO to see if your purpose of visit is truly justified.

For example, what precise skills would the Humber course give you? Be as precise as possible, don't just mention the name of the course. How would these precise skills translate into growth for your business? Once again be as precise as possible, provide numbers. What is the projected revenue increase? What is the demand for these services in Nigeria?

How would the diploma program help you to capture a good fraction of the demand in Nigeria? What is the estimated total revenue of the "international standard spa" business in Nigeria? Don't forget to define to the VO what you mean by an "international standard spa" because that term seems vague. Keep in mind that without these numbers it will be impossible for the VO to justify why you are willing to pay $25k CAD per year (for two years) on this diploma program, particularly as you already have a law degree.

Also, you must clearly explain to the VO what it is about taking this course in Canada that is unique, versus learning it in Nigeria. While I am not a VO, I am immediately skeptical that you couldn't learn such a skill in Nigeria. So the ball is in your court to be specific and convincing to the VO about what precise knowledge on "international standard spas" is available in Canada but not in Nigeria. Be as clear and precise as possible and, if need be, do some research online and include the link of one or more credible sources in the footnote of your SOP.

Your job is to convince the VO. S/he is likely to dismiss the need to go study "international spas" in Canada, as opposed to Nigeria. So prepare your application with the assumption that the VO will be skeptical, and in so doing you'll likely be able to address all the questions that s/he might have.

Be slightly paranoid about how the VO will treat your application, and it'll bring the best out of you. "Only the paranoid survive".

PS: This is not to discourage you, but to strongly encourage you! You can get the TRV for this course, but you will need to take the application very very seriously.
