A number of people have shared some good suggestions - Ikigia, dingbang, Mobsync, and I can see other people asking for more details.. So the question is what has ymee picked from this thread so far and what does he plan to do next?

Also, one thing I will add is that attitude and mindset matters a lot.
Easier said than done, without capital nothing to do

@OP, the solution to your problem is on the inside of you if you had those credentials you mentioned. I graduated with 2.2 in botany but I got a job in a redundant federal commission that reduces salaries without circular to why it happened. I had to start working on fiverr to keep my family together despite the 70+ I collect every month it doesn't solve my problem it only pay my monthly bills and food but I earn *2 of that from the little computing I learned myself. I can boast in God today that am better of than last year when I never started fiverr full time. I have USA clients that give me works on a rolling basis but no one would believe I studied botany- PLANT SCIENCE. If you can only think outside the box you will never look for a job again. I have a friend who studied the same course but a react.js professional, he just got a job of 125k today with no connection but just dexterity and a bit of passion to see outside what's outside the computer science curriculum. So THINK THINK AND THINK, That 20k for business may not come o walahi, been there before and I know what am saying, but you have a laptop (am sure of that), you have battery? you have small gen? what are you waiting for?
Teach me brother, I have laptop, I have battery. I have electricity and am ready to learn. Thank you

This is the right attitude to have - a teachable 'ready-to-take steps' attitude. Wish you the best.

Why do you people always talk like this. Are you practically blaiming him and calling him a wasted a youth just because he is looking for a job?

You think all these petty things that people do in the name of enterpreneur are better than having a well-paying jobs?

Most of the so called enterpreneurs cannot even put food on their tables. Some of them lacked the determination to persist in searching for a good job; they gave up eventually and decided to do anything to survive. Is this what you call enterpreneurship?

If you must know, the young man needs a good job so that he can raise enough money to establish an IT firm.

Many industrialists in Nigeria were once employees.

It ir not a crime to search for a job.

Setting up a decent ice-cream factory alone will cost at least N2.5m for a start. How much then do you expect an IT firm to cost?

You just want him to do what every average computer literate person is doing. That cannot even guarantee him N20k monthly.

It sounds good to the ear when you start analyzing here on nairaland how a graduate can become a millionaire with just N100k. However, in real life, N100k cannot get you an apartment, neither can it buy a nice laptop.

Obviously, you too, you sound like you have a job mentality just like so many of our wasted youths.

No one says searching for a job is a crime.

The problem is just for how long will you keep on searching?

The OP is very much learned, so why can't he put what he learned into use rather than searching for elusive jobs?

In my own opinion, that is where I think him (and so many other wasted youths) should channels that DETERMINATION you mentioned.

Can't you see the problem we now have in Nigeria?

Because so many of our graduates were brainwashed into loving jobs, now we have an explosion of so many people chasing fewer jobs.

My own is that the earlier we start desensitizing our youths from the idea of 'looking for job' and start pointing them towards the idea of becoming their own boss like what is obtainable in most western countries, the better it will be for all of us in the end.

If so many of our youths are earning at least 20K from their petty entrepreneurial jobs, I believe the story will be different from the demoralizing situation we have today where so many youths are earning NOTHING but are still waiting for the non existent jobs.

What a better way to waste one's time and life!!!

How can a graduate computer scientist use his skills to make money without a job? Establish a business related to his discipline right?

If he doesn't have the money, he can use your head right?

I pray you find yourself in some people's situation, and then you realize how wrong you are?

That is called thinking outside the box.

I understand your point but the reality is there are too many people out there after very few jobs, he can't afford to continue waiting for one.

You don't need capital for the Switch.ng. They only require you to have a laptop.

CodeLagos does not require anything. They don't even want you to be a programmer. And you only work on weekends. The pay is between 15 and 25k depending on how much work you do. You'll also be posted to a school close to your place of residence.

What other tools do you need to learn most of what he suggested above. you probably have an android phone and can surf, these are the basic things you will need.
take me for instance, i finished school last year sept(geology, awaiting service). realising d nature of securing a job in Nigeria i thought of an additional skill 2 acquire to be gainfully self employed should i find my self in ur situation.
barbing, tailoring nd programming were d 3 top skills i considered, finally settled wit programming. i searched Nland Programming section nd found a thread by javanian which guided me on what language 2 learn. i had no laptop 2 write nd run my code, so i downloaded AIDE on android 2 write nd test run basic Java codes. there are lots of good free ebooks nd tutorial videos on youtube that can put u throug any prog-Lang. if u dont ave data u can do cheap night sub 2 download the videos nd ebooks.
please can you refer me to that thread? I won't mind having your number too. I graduated last year awaiting service and I've been following an engineer to learn one or two concerning my course but from what I'm seeing, things aren't as I expected.
I've signed up on fiverr too and I'll like to be a programmer but I don't know anything about it, not even which program to learn
