Eke Ifeanyichukwu Emmanuel emerged the 2015/2016 best graduating student of University of Nigeria, with a CGPA of 4.83. In an interview with Vanguard, when asked about the challenges he passed through while in school, he said: "I had a whole lot of challenges. .

One of them was financial challenge. I am from a very humble background. We reside in Aba. I remember in my first and second years, I used to drink garri (cassava flakes) and eat Fibre active biscuit. It was a daily ration to me. I also used ropes as belts as a student. .

I remember then, I had few clothes. No shoes to where, only slippers. Having money to pay my fees was an issue. I stayed in the hostel from first year till I graduated. In my first year, I was having an eye challenge. Then, I would be seated in front of the classroom. .

Yet, I would not see what was written on the board. No money to go to the hospital for check up talk less of getting glasses. I had a D in a three unit load first year course. It was a motivational factor that spurred me into reading more."

the guy is a scholar. The only time he will suffer is during his first and second year, the rest will be easier for him because I believe he should be his class scholar in 200/300 level and as that the school we be paying him with free hostel accommodation.

Well I don't know of UNN sha but since it a fed university I think it should be the same because that's how it is done in my school

What is it with every best graduating student claiming dey went thru one hell or d other to get first class. It's becoming an annoying cliche because their experiences are clearly exaggerated. Anyways congrats to him. Not one of dem dey gree say dey actually groove small even afta caning gals via tutorials and assignments..

He found where he could gain recognition and put his best efforts there. The first class will open doors for him. That is a good social status.
I look around and see many talentless guys about 20 years old trying to become the next big thing in rap music when they should be studying. They end up failing both academically and socially.
