As usual, most peeps here didn't fail to impress in spewing ignorance. U cannot separate religion and culture cos every religion emanates from a particular culture. Women today cover their head during worship cos its in the bible, which people and their tradition does the bible speak about? THE JEWS. So the priest shouldn't identify with the traditions of his people as an African for what reason exactly? The problem with most Nigerians is that we lack a sense of identity, most wanna act as though they are from the Americas or Europe. Most Nigerians are mentally chained and need a decolonisation of the mind.

Culture is not utterly religion... it is a people's way of life.... the Rev. Father is only but celebrating his culture.... not worshiping it.. I salute his wisdom and understanding

lol. Even God had to entertain the presence of satan during the days of job..

Job 1:6 When the day came for the heavenly beings[b] to appear before the Lord, Satan[c] was there among them. 7 The Lord asked him, “What have you been doing?”

Satan answered, “I have been walking here and there, roaming around the earth.”

Am not saying that the priest is god but circumstances may allow them to met and interact in the way that you or I may not understand. Hence Jesus admonished us to give to cesear what is his and to God what is his.
whom you choose to give more to is then your personal decision because you cannot give them both equally at the same time. i.e one cannot serve God and Mormon at the same time but then they can meet to part ways.
My own thoughts though.

Which aru? Ppl like you pretends a lot. Because they are priests, they shouldn't have time for culture again? Parading Masquerades are bad depends on the intentions. Not all of them are bad, some are purely for festivals' no juju attached.

Those days in the seminary, we parade masquerades within the seminary premises by us and for us.

Masquerades are for entertainment. Many are not evil, or having devilish origin as some think. They are masqueraded to entertain and create social cultural atmosphere to celebrate culture. There is absolutely nothing wrong in celebrate your culture if the culture is not Antichrist. So please inculturation above involved the demystification of cultural practices and returning them to their right place.

I witnessed such during my NYSC program few years back in Anambra state . I even learnt there's one big particular church in that village where I was served then that has her own masquerade. All these masquerade use to displayed themselves during xmass and new year festive period.

Does being a Christian preclude one from being part of his tradition?
All the statements you made above makes me wonder if you had once been priest.
This is called Acculturation, that is, worshipping God in your own way.
