You should read the letter that you are given at the time of rejection, it gives you a little bit of information about section 214(b) of U.S. immigration law. Re-applying for the sake of re-applying is a waste of your time and money. If your circumstances, which we use to determine visa eligibility, have not significantly changed then we strongly discourage you from re-applying. Why would the decision change if the basic facts surrounding it have not?

Thanks @LagosNIV My friend is doing his MBA and he is going to have is project deffence 4 and 6th April bit hw did not fill it in his form the first application he was denied then he did not also mention that he is getting married 29th august.. Please sir do yoj think if he reapplies next week and explain all this to the VO, he would be considered dor visa approval. Thanks so much

I can't advise applicants on whether or not they can apply for visas. What your friend needs to do is determine whether or not he believes those circumstances affect his ties currently.

This is a true circumstance which he delibrately did not talk about being a first time applicant.. If he had informed me before booking appointment i would have advised him to put in his masters program and write "in view" then explain to the vo. Thank you Sir .... He will surely reapply and all explanation needed will be given. And all will end in joy. America is a great country to experience their culture and learn from in business and Economic perspective.

When ever the VO is typing what i feel is he or she is trying to fill in the things you are saying as a record to make reference to and back up whay you fill on the form. If you are not explaining yourself netter at the interview and not making the interview be like a conversation i.e explanation to make your stance interesting your are likely to be denied because all interview for that day is reviewed and if they find out that visa is approved to an applicant who's case was empty and scanty like an abjective answer booklet, then the vo that aporoves such visa will be queried..... "Its my thought ooo " That is what i feel happens when one keep applying and reapplying and seems to be getting denied all the time. Because you havent hit that point that the VO needs to understand about and its seems to him/her like sane old story.

Good morning house, I have been a silent observer of this forum and I can say I'm really impressed by the response of members on this forum. Pls I'm in urgent need of advice concerning my plan visit to the US. I'm a fresh graduate with no travel or work experience, I have already applied for a passport which will be ready on the 6th of march. I also have a uncle in the US who is a citizen and I wish to apply for my visa this year. Actually my intention is to work during my stay over there but I need clarification on some issues bothering me
1. Must I get an invitation letter from my uncle before aplying for the visa?
2. How do I answer questions relating to occupation, work history, income etc.
3. Is it also necessary I speak about my intention to work during my stay period.
4. As a first time traveler, will I be granted a 6 month visa or more?
5. In general, I will appreciate a break down of the questions I'm likely to face during the interview and their answers.

1) Yes you need an Invitation letter addressed to the embassy, typed by your Uncle.
2) you need to answer truthfully, because if you lie that you are employed, they might ask for a reference letter from your company or your bank statement. And if you don't have funds like that, ask your uncle to address a letter to the embassy stating that he would fund your trip and movements.
3) Girl? Don't even open your mouth to mention the word 'work or intern' during your interview.you cannot work with the B1/B2 visa and if you try it, you will get caught. And if you get your visa, don't also mention it at the POE. Your B1 or B2 visa does not permit you to work.
4) if your lucky you might be granted 2 years. My first US visa was 2years and it was a B1/B2,and I was 11,so the B1 visa part wasn't necessary. Everything has to do with Favor. And if they don't trust you, they can give you a 6months single entry visa. which means that you can only enter the US ONCE, for that six month period. Once you leave the US, your visa becomes invalid.
5) If you followed the thread, you would see frequent questions asked.

So he can lie and get a 2yrs visa just to enter U.S and work? I believe that's an abuse of that visa category and it's illegal for him to work so he shouldn't bother about applying for a B1/B2 visa if his intention is to use it to work.

Visa applications have nothing to do with favor, especially when your intent is to flout immigration laws. God is not a respecter of the disobedient.

He is unemployed and a recent graduate, obviously intends to work on a visit visa and is looking to stay for 6 months or more. There is no god on earth that will make a VO grant him a visa.

Last but not least, I think the VOs have made it clear here, invitation letters are not read or requested!

My dear, I am not working and I got my Visa. Everything depends on how you communicate. I might have been lucky because I have been traveling to the US since I was 11. But I was asked if I was working and I replied No. the VO then proceeded to type some stuff and gave me my white paper after a minute. EVERYTHING has to do with God's favor. And it's not your business what she intends to use the Visa for, if you are so bothered then you should take up a job with the CBP or National guard.

This kind of simplistic answer does not help people!

We can tell everyone to keep applying and dashing money to visa applications.
Or we can present FACTS and give honest advice to people.

If honest advice comes hard then that is a price you pay. You would not thank us if you were looking at an empty purse after several futile applications!

The integrity of this Forum is very important.. if we keep doing this we should as well change the name of this thread to U.S Immigrant and Non immigrant visa section.
Nobody no matter who you are should encourage any applicant with intention to work on B1/B2 visa to do so... it's just so wrong and illegal.

What I'm saying is simple... don't make it easy for him to even think it's possible for him to get a b1/b2 visa with the hope of working in U.S as far as I know.. you're encouraging him.

No one was encouraging anybody. You are just extra. Everybody categorically said the B1/B2 visa can't be used to work. Take several chill pills. And if the person decides to use the visa to work and gets caught, then it's their business. just because someone was open about their intentions on travelling, does not mean you should chastise them. It's best to advise someone with patience. You need to calm down. Not everything is war.

Harsh ke?! I'm tripping for the guy. He's saying what I'm tired of saying
Most Nigerians never self evaluate objectively. That's why an unemployed, unmarried, virgin traveller will ask for his chances.
Most Nigerians place a premium on grace when they are misrepresenting. That's why folks lie and then drag God's name in their poo.
Most Nigerians do not like to hear the truth. That's why somebody that was denied will look for justification to reapply within a week.
Finally, most Nigerians have a 'control, fraud' button. That's why you would use a phrase like 'package'
Most Nigerians are research lazy and indolent. That's why somebody would still be asking about iv letter and another replying that it needs to be typed. shocked
@TW please more grease...

A German does not need "favor" to travel to the US. That's because Germans do not routinely flout immigration rules. You need "favor" because no one can trust you to keep your word, tell the truth, or present only genuine documents at all times.

You stated why you get visas easily - you've been traveling since you were 11... you already ESTABLISHED a credible travel history that trumps your lack of a job. That does not apply to everyone else.

It is our business, as Nigerians and users of this forum, to promote honesty and legitimate use of visas. The repercussions of your dishonesty affects all other innocent legitimate visa applicants... to dismiss that with a frankly unnecessarily haughty tone is disturbing.

Asking him to get an invitation letter addressed to the US embassy is evidence you don't know what you're talking about either.
