[quote author=kiekie1 post=53964955] You looking for a quotation I guess .. Cheers ![/ quote] Yes & No! I already have an idea of what it will cost, at least like 3 months back The nairalander that i was looking forward to do it for me has gone seriously cold for months now (not that i was ready then though) someone advertises here but have mailed the provided contact and he does not sound that serious, gave me a line to call which happened to be wrong. Short story - i need a good deal and reliable person. thanks. |

Hello Gurus in the house, Please advise Current System Configuration: 6 x 250W; 3 x 2 Series-Parallel Configuration; Vmp=30.1, Imp=8.31, Isc=8.71, Voc=36.4 CC: TS-MPPT-60; 3.5KVa 48V Inverter Proposed new panel specification: 6 x 260W; Vmp=31.4, Imp=8.37, Isc=8.94, Voc=38.4 Proposed System Configuration (1): 3 x 4 Series-Parallel Configuration My concern from varied online source is that old panel would negatively impact new panels and mppt would have a hard time identifying Vmp Proposed System Configuration (2): 3 x 3 Series-Parallel Configuration; I eliminate 2 old panels and connect remaining 4 in series and parallel to new panels (3x2) I suppose new panels would give maximum power but old panels (1000W) would be pulled down to a max of (780W) I guess. What do you think the impact on system would be? Please advise. Thanks |
Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by efuro(m): 2:03pm On Feb 23, 2017 |
mcci: you did not specify if panels are mixed that is poly mixed with mono. i assume you are using poly panels please go with config 1. with ur MPPT ur CC will probably pick the lowest values (i.e. Vmp=30.1, Imp=8.31, Isc=8.71, Voc=36.4 instead of Vmp=31.4, Imp=8.37, Isc=8.94, Voc=38.4) at that rate you are granted of harvesting steady wattage for longer time particularly during raining season. @48V battery bank you need all the panels. nice effort too. |
Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by DMerciful(m): 2:42pm On Feb 23, 2017 |
I concur. You can connect the old and new since their specifications are pretty close. Just not that the max PV current will be that of the 250w which is OK. Difference btw 250w n 260w is marginal. Install all ur panels. Another solution will be to have a separate cc for the old panels n another for the new panels. efuro: 1 Like |

DMerciful: I have a lot of opportunist loads that I run during the day like Water Heaters, Water Pump, Fridge, Freezer, Induction Cooker, Iron and Aircon. My entire house is 100% off grid between 8am and 4pm. After 4pm, the Aircon, Iron and Induction cooker revert to grid power while the Water Heaters and Water Pump remain on Inverter power but are switched off. Fridge and Freezer remain ON on a two hours alternating cycle till 8am I have a 20KWH battery bank from which I draw not more than 7KWH overnight. 8 Likes |

dapsyra: Excellent! Very similar to mine... only difference is that my fridge/freezer also reverts to grid from 3pm. |

Barezzi: How much power do you draw overnight? What is your battery voltage and SOC by 7am? |
Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by Barezzi(m): 1:27am On Feb 24, 2017 |
dapsyra:I'll monitor it when i get back home. Grid supply is usually stable at night, so battery is usually fully charged by daybreak. If i remember correctly, my night time usage is usually 6 to 9kwh |

dapsyra: Pls this whole KWH is confusing to me, I know it's load in Watts X run time but when I have such an info above 20KWH battery & 7KWH consumption, how do I get to know what the load was & how long it lasted ? |

NEPA will really hate you ! and may soon bribe you with 'Ghana Must Come' bags to stop opening peoples eye to free sun energy. imagine, see your 15.9 KwH x Nepa rate = (thousands of naira/day) x months or (years of going green) - (initial expenses)= nice one & good savings! me i still dey 3.4KWH/day Sha! 1 Like |

dapsyra: Nice one. I run a similar opportunistic load consumption. My consumption rarely exceeds 10kWH/day though I hit 12 - 15kWH/day at times. A 10.8kWH battery bank (225Ah x 48V) though lower now - one battery died. 3kW of PV panels. Loads go off at variable times typically 3 - 5pm. People at home know how to gauge the power generation hecnce power down early, should the need arise. It's beautiful, belonging to the "green" family. Next project is the solar water heater. 3 Likes |

Barezzi:bros 6-9kwh at night is still high. Is there no way you can cut down consumption at night? Just thinking of the battery cost though. With this I doubt they will do 3yrs |
Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by Barezzi(m): 12:13pm On Feb 25, 2017 |
JUO:I fully agree with you. One of my next goals is to take the security lights off the battery. Next will be to replace my fans. I run two and they consume 135w each. I average 500w throughout the night. I'd like to get it down to 200w. Which is cheaper? Increase my battery Bank or replace energy guzzling loads?? |

Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by JUO(m): 4:56pm On Feb 25, 2017 |
Barezzi:replace energy guzzling loads, there are ceiling fan of 5w-28w, standing fan of 14w-35w. Energy saving bulbs (led) of 5w-18w. For security lights I will advise flood light of 20w-30w. These can cut down your consumption to 3-4kwh at night 1 Like |
