Or reduce Nigerias military domination.
that's very true from a realistic perspective. Morocco is friend to Senegal and some other militarily strong ecowas state, letting them into ECOWAS would be like creating a bloc within a bloc. although I know Nigeria would let them in for Economic reason even when we know that the Moroccans just need us not to raise our hands during any vote for Saharawi statehood like we did with Palestine. Morocco in ECOWAS would "greatly" reduce Nigeria' military influence in the bloc.

morocco have never show faithfulness or respect for regional framework, she chiefly use them to achieve her goals and abandon them, that is why you see Morocco and Algeria having strained relationship even within the ARAB MAGHREB UNION, the question Nigerian leaders should be asking now should be? what if we cannot support Morocco' interest while in ecowas would that spell the end of ecowas because nations like Morocco her known to destroy regional frameworks by creating diverse blocs. anybody know anything about the Monrovia bloc or the casablanca bloc? during the PRE- OAU formation days.

"Impoccicant"

Let even assume they do, they don't have the political and financial clout to sideline Nigeria in Ecowas.

Ecowas is still functioning today because of Nigeria.

Remove Nigeria and everything will come down splattering.

In case of a reduction of Nigeria's dominance, it will simply make the Military "do something" to overcome that challenge.

Nigerians are unique set of people that most times wait for the "thing" to happen before finding solution to it.

If not for BH, the tri-service won't have the coordination and synergy rampant nowadays, which also lead to troops welfare and professionalism.

Same thing for the Navy, if the Militants aint active then, we won't be seeing the reform ongoing.

What i'm saying in essence is that, Nigeria shines its Finest during "hard/Difficult times" because that's when one knows they can Innovate....the ATV and Motorbike are two examples.

of course there must be some foreign power backing this nonsense. Morocco in ECOWAS, Morocco being a very strong trade partner with the west would give room for the Nigerian rejected European trade agreement to be signed since a vast majority of ECOWAS state will now stand to benefit from it. Morocco should not even be allowed an observer status in ECOWAS.

Morroco has been an Observer for a very long time.
Morocco also maintains institutional relations with ECOWAS, through an observer status, which has been in place for several years.
Morocco has participated in several meetings of ECOWAS and has contributed to its activities, particularly in areas relating to peace and stability only on a small scale.

No be today dem start pokenosing into ecowas issue, dem don dey nurse am for long.

They recently joined AU as well, i don't know what those guys are up to.

They might want to allign/ally with Ecowas because Egypt and Algeria weigh more power than they could possibly contend with or maybe there's no Unity in the AMU.

NAF to Host EX Blue Kunene 2017 Preparations for the interoperability humanitarian joint exercise code-named “Blue Kunene” slated for May 2017 got off the ground following an initial planning session that was held in Windhoek last month. The planning session was attended by SADC member states’ military personnel and line ministries from Namibia. All SADC member states are to participate in the military exercise to be held in the Kunene Region where participants will conduct simulated exercises on how to respond effectively to both man-made and natural calamities in the region and beyond.

I doubt.

Nigeria's influence is too strong in the region. It will only be a wake up call for Nigerians. I guess this might have to do with getting more market than military domination.

ECOWAS = Economic Community Of West African States.

Which part of West Africa do Arabs belong? Would they allow Nigeria to join the Arab League? No, of course not, they need to stay on the edge of North Africa where they belong.

For now no one knows their intention and my best guess is for economic reason. They need larger market for their product with little/no restrictions.

If it was about power and military domination, they know Nigeria won't be easy to contend with, as we can always get new toys and we still have a lot of influence not only in West Africa but in Africa as a whole.

PRESS RELEASE
NIGERIAN AIR FORCE FIGHTER AIRCRAFT DESTROYS BOKO HARAM TERRORIST VEHICLE MOUNTED WITH ANTI-AIRCRAFT GUN

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) fighter jets yesterday successfully intercepted a group of Boko Haram Terrorists (BHT) moving in an Hilux vehicle mounted with anti-aircraft gun. The armed vehicle was sighted at Talala in Northern Borno by an Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) aircraft on patrol, which then called for strike by combat platform. Following the alert, two Alpha Jets were immediately scrambled to the location. Whereas the insurgents, on sighting the attacking aircraft, fled for cover under nearby trees, the vehicles were attacked and were completely engulfed in an inferno. Follow-up battle damage assessment (BDA) by NAF ISR aircraft revealed that the air strike was successful as the vehicles were completely destroyed as shown by the footage of the operation.

Recall that the NAF has intensified ISR missions over the entire theatre of operation in the North East, especially around Northern Borno. The objective is to prevent the remnants of the BHT from regrouping with a view to launching attack on own troops on clearance operations as well as people within the host communities.

A new training for the Ugandan military

An Operation Training Detachment (OAT), composed by 17 French servicemen, three US servicemen and two UK servicemen received the task of training the UGABAG XXII (Uganda Battle Group) and UNGU (UN Guard Unit) in basic soldiers’ know-hows before their deployment in Somalia within the MINUSCO.

Indeed, the OAT will teach basic skills in combat rescue level 1, counter-IED, topography, combat shooting, collective and individual weaponry and squad-level combat. Coordinating with ACOTA (Africa Contingency Operations Training Assistance), the detachment is also in charge of the instruction of specialised units, Mortar sections, T55 tank platoons and the mechanized infantry company.
French training team’s task is to support the Singo Camp Ugandan instructors by advising them, through their own experience, in terms of technics and pedagogy. After a preparation in Djibouti, the detachment arrived in Uganda on February 4th 2017, promptly familiarising as with the training field as with its Ugandan counterparts.Training started on February 10th 2017. It includes a set of five modules and will end in a few weeks, by a closure ceremony, in which a joint shooting demonstration combining direct and indirect fires that the UPDF will be able to implement when in Somalia. The 5th RIAOM, a French combined overseas regiment based in Djibouti, has been training the UPDF in coordination with the US and UK forces for many years, in the context of global fight against terrorism.

In my humble opinion one of the finest armoured cars of the Cold War period, along with the AML series.
