Ikeja means Ikorodu and Epe joint administration, you can take that to the bank. It was developed under the then Western region.

Okay. I agree till I get facts on that.

Sounds quite idiotic that you have to name your own town after a visitor's beard. Didn't the place have a name before the colonial masters came? Were there no villagers dwelling there?!
U re still a learner

That Ojota history is incorrect, Ojota had and still has the shrine of Esu whose other name is Ota and that was why it used to be called Oju Ota before it metamorphosed into Ojota. Your story on Ikeja is quite amazing and I appreciate it cos I am hearing it for the 1st time

the ikeja was okay, but that ojota was a fallacy a lie

Agege...Ageregerege. Meaning we shared it equally. This came about because three brothers inherited the land and shared it equally amongst themselves.
2. Alapere means where traders sell baskets
3. Oshodiit a corruption of the nupe name of the town Oshodee. This area was formerly a nupe enclave
4.Idiaba from idiaraba. Under the mighty tree ( araba)
Arghh. I don't tire

I think Ojuelegba, Oshodi and Mushin are more popular than some of those areas. But I may be wrong.

Ikotun.

Though there is a story behind it's name, but to cut it short, the name was derived from "Ìkà Yí ò Tó", meaning This cruelty doesn't worth it.

I know but I like to think it only seem offensive if you think of it that way.

What about "Victoria falls"? Or the naming of Nigeria being "Niger" and "area". Even though they pronounce the "Niger" different. Or the "Niger" river?

Why I wonder when people get pissed when they call you "Niger", we have been called that for long but we can choose to put a definition to that name that will be of positive repute.

#just saying.

One may choose not allow the words in question to have an effect on them and that's fair enough but the history can never be ignored in my opinion and I personally choose not to ignore it or make the word 'positive'.

History is history, one will not attain the full potential of the present if one is not unencumbered from the past. In the words of tyrion when he was speaking to Jon snow, "let me give you some advice bastard, never forget who you are. The world will never forget it,wear it like an armour and it will never be used to hurt you".

Its a known fact undisputable, Lagos is a part of the Edo Nation. The name Eko is a Benin word.

Most of the points by the Op are just figments of his imagination. Look at that Ikeja nonsense up there. So the Akeja of Ikejaland is a king of Ikorodu and Epe joint administration? Ikeja is an Awori name.. .
am not sure of the name, but am pretty sure there was no Akeja in that area in 1960.

Lol there's a difference between dwelling on it and still acknowledging and understanding what took place, especially when it still till this day has an impact on subsequent generations of blacks today. I hope you're not one of those people who thinks 'racism has ended' by the way lool
