The Gk role

Ikeme is the clear number 1. Akpeyi and Ezenwa do not inspire confidence to take over. It is an area that we need options. Emmanuel or Nwokolor could be the solutions. Alampasu is not ready in my view.

Left back

A weak position that does not get enough attention. For all his weaknesses, Echiejile is still the best here. Madu and Amuzie have me not shown enough to displace him.

Brian Idowu and Ebuehi are other options. Ebuehi will need to bulk up for African football. Perhaps one of these two will be the successor to Elderson.

Madu has been having game time recently but is not that impressive.

I remember how you were saying Gabriel Jesus is not better than Nacho and wouldn't even bench him.Turns Out he would later bench Aguero of all people.

I would Trust Wenger and Co who claim he is the new henry than you.

I have no doubt in my mind that Gabriel Jesus is not a better player striking than Aguero and Iheanacho. What Gabriel Jesus brings to the team is a better work rate, dropping deep repeatedly to win balls and build-up plays. I do not see him as a better finisher, shooter, crosser or Passer than Iheanacho.

So people like Wenger and Henry are ignorant when they say Mbappe is the new henry? grin

My problem is when people can not judge for themselves. Your opinion is Henry and Wenger said. Watch his clips and Mbappe's clips and tell me if he comes out to you as a new Henry.

This guy is not as good as a Young Djibril Cisse. Definitely not as good as a Young Henry at Monaco. He can become top quality if he stays disciplined and hard working. However, he is not as good as a Young Benzema yet.

He's obviously more talented than anyone I've seen at City. Including Aguero who is no where close to his abilities at the same age.
Coupled with the small fact of his huge transfer fee. Its not so difficult to figure out he wouldn't sit on the Man city bench.

Are you joking or what? This Mbappe I am watching his clips now is more talented than Silva, Kevin De Bruyne and Aguero. Big joke. Please, go and watch Sane's clips at Schalke before you write things like this.

I didn't ask for your excitement. You just haven't told me how you knew he is not good enough when you don't know him. It beats me hollow.

What else do you want to know? I was not blown away from the few I watched at the City game. Never heard news of Mbappe as a World Class striker in the class of Benzema, Higuain and Cavani, players I rate Aguero better than. It is simple logic to know that a player who is not rated above these players to start at City.

As for you saying Mbappe is more talented than anyone at City, it shows you clouded judgment of talents.

Onyekuru's goal

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2_wqKdV_-Hc

Nice instinct in front of goal. I agree Onyekuru can land a better deal if he maintains his form. However, I feel Celtic was a better platform to showcase his talent than Eupen.

The hero in the Eupen saga is the Eupen manager, Auli who kept his doors open to Onyekuru and blamed Onyekuru's reaction on the confusion of the transfer market. Much respect to the young Spanish tactician.

Thankfully he's back playing football after that ill advised strike which could have put his career in jeopardy.

A move to Celtic would not put Onyekuru's career in jeopardy. That is a very weak assessment. Celtic is a big club that features regularly in the Champions League. With a manager, Brendan Rodgers who plays an exciting, high pressing brand of football that would have fitted Onyekuru.

Haba.

High Marks For Super Eagles Dutch-Nigerian Star Ebuehi In ADO Den Haag Stalemate

Soon to be called up Super Eagles defender Tyroone Ebuehi got top ratings for his performance for ADO Den Haag in their 1-1 draw against FC Twente in the Dutch Eredivisie.

Ebuehi dominated the right flank of his team formation, combining his primary job as a defender with forays upfront to set up attacks by threading passes or whipping in crosses.

The 20 year old also made two key intervention that stopped Twente from getting a chance to trouble the goalkepper of his side, a sign of how well his defensive awareness has improved.

Tipped to play for Nigeria in their next friendly game against Senegal, the Dutch-Nigerian has so far made 21 appearances in all competitions for ADO Den Haag.

He has played 19 times in the league, and twice in domestic cup games. He has already surpassed his last season’s appearance total with over 12 games left to go in the Dutch championship.

Zamalek Nigerian Left Back Hope To Use Enugu Rangers Clash To Get Rohr’s Attention

Enugu Rangers opponent in the next round in the CAF Champions League Zamalek will come up against the Nigerian champions with two Nigerians in their team.

Stanley Ohawuchi who played for Enugu Rangers bitter rivals Heartland FC of Owerri before his sojourn to Europe, and Moruf Yusuf are the two Nigerians who will be on parade for Zamalek against the Nigerians.

24 year old Yusuf has made himself a main stay in the Zamalek team since his transfer from El-Shorta in 2014, and the tie against Rangers could be the perfect chance to gain international recognition.

While former junior international Ohawuchi stands little or no chance of catching the interest of the Super Eagles handlers due to his position as a forward, where the Eagles are well stocked, Yusuf is a left sided midfielder who can also play as a left back.

The left full back position of the Nigeria team is one of the areas where coach Gernot Rohr has lamented his lack of options, and a strong showing for Yusuf could earn him a recommendation from Rangers coach Imama Amakapabo who also doubles as one of the assistant coaches of Rohr.

Players Abroad – Arsenal Loanee Nwakali, Kingsley Madu, Theo Solomon Suffer Heavy Defeats

It was a Friday to forget for three Nigerian players as their respective teams in Europe suffer heavy defeats at the hands of their opponents in yesterday’s game.

In Croatia Theophilus Solomon failed to pick up from where he left off last year, as for the second game running, the 21 year old fired blanks but this time around unlike last week when his team Istra won, they were trashed 4-0 by Hajduk Split in yesterday’s game.

There was no Man of the Match award for Arsenal loanee Kelechi Nwakali unlike last week, as his loan side MVV Maastricht crash to a 4-0 loss to Cambuur despite his presence on the pitch for the entire duration of the game.

Super Eagles deputy left back Kingsley Madu was handed a rare start by the coach of Belgian side Zulte-Waregem but it ended up as a game to forget for the 22 year old as his team were thrashed 4-0 by Club Brugge.

“Bye Musa” – England Legend Lineker Wants Musa To Follow Sacked Ranieri Out Of Leicester City

Former Leicester City forward Gary Lineker who holds the record for the most goals for an English man at the World Cup has slammed sacked Leicester City manager Claudio Ranieri for his trust in Ahmed Musa which lead to his sack.

Ranieri was reportedly fired for starting the Nigerian ahead of Demarai Gray against Sevilla, a decision which angered the senior players of Leicester City and lead to the axing of the manager.

Lineker who is however unhappy with the decision to sack the coach, was however critical of his blind trust in the former CSKA Moscow man Musa, who has failed to live up to his price tag since his move from Russia.

His post on social media, also suggest that he wants the Nigerian to follow the manager out of the King Power Stadium.
See post.

“Defend Claudio to the end after last season but his faith in Musa is baffling. Now I’ve said it, please prove me wrong,” Lineker wrote on his Twitter page.

Lineker, who holds England’s record for most goals in the World Cup with 10, added on his Twitter page. “Haha beautifully timed tweet. Bye Musa.”

Imama blames fatigue for champions Rangers loss

Rangers championship-winning coach Imama Amapakabo has blamed fatigue caused by congested fixtures for his team’s 2-1 loss at MFM FC.

On Friday night, youthful home team MFM battled to beat champions Rangers at the Agege Stadium in Lagos.

"It was not a bad game. We only paid the price for playing three matches in five days,” said Imama, whose team will next month face Zamalek of Egypt in continuation of this year's CAF Champions League.

"I must say kudos to my players because this is their third match in just five days. They put in their best but it was not enough to pick a point.

"I don't expect more than what they have exhibited because they are not machines.”

With Friday’s result, the NPFL champions now languish in 16th position on the table with nine points picked from eight games.

They have won two, drawn 3 and lost 3.

Odey, Olatunbosun best strikers in Nigeria - MFM coach

MFM FC coach Fidelis Ilechukwu has rated his young strikers Stephen Odey and Sikiru Olatunbosun as the best in the NPFL after they netted the goals that sunk Rangers Friday night.

Olatunbosun scored what will be a top contender for ‘Goal of The Season’ after 31 minutes, before Odey doubled the home team’s advantage on the hour for his sixth goal of the season.

The two young strikers have scored a total of nine goals between them so far this season.
MFM have scored a total of 12 goals.

"There is no doubt, we have the best attack in the league. You can discern that from what my players exhibited (vs Rangers),” remarked Ilechukwu.

"I am very happy we won against the league champion. It was a deservedg victory because we worked very hard for it.”

The home win means MFM, who barely escaped relegation last season, have now cut the lead of the table toppers Plateau United to four points as they have 16 points after eight rounds of matches.

They have won five, drawn one and lost two matches thus far.

On Loan Chelsea Defender Omeruo Enhances Reputation With First Goal In Five Years

Kenneth Omeruo continued his fine form for his loan side Alanyaspor with a goal in their 3-1 win over Adanaspor in a Turkish Super Lig game.

Omeruo struck in the 37th minute of their clash against Adanaspor to give his team a two goal cushion in the tie, and in the process ended a five year goal drought.

He last scored during his loan spell at ADO Den Haag in 2012, when he scored against VV Venlo in a 2-1 loss for his team, the same season he scored his first professional goal for the team in their 3-0 win over Groningen.

23 year old Omeruo who is in his six stint away from Stamford Bridge since joining the team in 2012, has so far been one of the best players for his current loan side in the league.

Aside his primary role as a central defender, he has filled in admirably well as a defensive midfielder in some games this season as well as playing as a full back both at club and national level.

“Nigerian Neymar” Dennis Makes Headline In Ukraine With Goal Against Dynamo Kiev

Nigerian forward Emmanuel Dennis Bonaventure scored his third goal of the season, which happened to be the opening goal for Zorya against Dynamo Kiev in their 1-3 loss.

The Football Academy Abuja (FAA) trainee opened scoring for his team in the 4th minute but watched helplessly as his team crumbled to a 1-3 loss, in a game where they were reduced to 10 men following a red card picked up by one of their players in the 86th minute.

19 year old Bonaventure will forever cherish the goal as it came against the team that first showed interest in him after his dazzling display for FAA in a youth tournament few years ago.

Bonaventure now has three goals from 7 games this season in Ukraine, as he has also found the back of the net in games against Olimpik Donetsk, Stal Kamainske and Dynamo Kiev.

Nicknamed Neymar by his friends and teammates due to his hairstyle which is similar to that of Brazilian and Barcelona forward Neymar.

Chelsea Fans Fault Victor Moses Over Swansea’s Goal – He Lost His Man

Chelsea continued their march to the Premier League title with a 3-1 win over Swansea City which puts them 11 points clear of Manchester City in second position.

Swansea didn’t make it easy for the Blues, especially after Fernando Llorente headed home an equaliser for his side on the dot of half-time to draw scores level going into the break.

Victor Moses was largely blamed for the equaliser scored by Swansea City as the wingback was caught ball watching, which allowed Llorente sneaked behind him to head home a delivery from Gylfi Sigurdsson.

Expectedly Chelsea fans took to twitter to fault his awareness with many agreeing that he should have done better in the build up to the goal.

The Nigerian alleged error was redeemed by goals from Pedro Rodriguez and Diego Costa which handed Chelsea a 3-1 win, with Moses departing the game for Kurt Zouma with few minutes left to play.

Wolves Fans Blast Ikeme Over Howler In Birmingham Defeat

By James Agberebi:

Fans of English Championship club Wolverhampton Wanderers have come down hard on Super Eagles goalkeeper Carl Ikeme following his first half error in his team's 2-1 home loss in the league to Birmingham City on Friday night.

Ikeme looked to have easily caught a wayward cross from Craig Gardner, but dropped the ball straight into the path of Maikel Kieftenbeld who tapped the ball into the net to put Birmingham 1-0 up.

Prior to scoring the first goal, Birmingham had failed to register a shot on target but they used it as inspiration to double their lead through former Wolves man David Davis.

Wolves got a goal back after Birmingham were reduced to 10 men in the second half, but they couldn’t find an equaliser.

The defeat leaves Wolves 20th in the 24-team Championship league table.

Following Ikeme's mistake, some of Wolves fans took to their Twitter handles to express their frustration.

Steven @WWFC_Steve stated that he has always doubted Ikeme's ability to handle crosses.

He wrote: "Sorry but that's why I've never trusted Ikeme when it comes to cross."

Robert Kostur @Robbo_WWFC also laid into the Nigeria keeper.

"Ikeme is experienced enough to know he was stretching too much for that, he was never gonna hold it – even I knew that."

Ian @WolfieOnTees added:
"That was abysmal Ikeme. Sorry but it was."

Larry Webb @laz7903 wrote: "Only a hat trick from Carl Ikeme will make up for that bit of goal keeping.. #shocking."

Paul. @Paulpablo90 went as far as wishing Ikeme injury, writing: "With any luck Ikeme punches another tactics board and breaks his hand. How Jacket thought he was better than Hennessy…"

Success Misses Big Chance As West Ham Hold Watford

Nigeria forward Isaac Success came close to scoring the winner for Watford in their 1-1 Premier League draw with West Ham at Vicarage Road on Saturday.

Troy Deeney’s penalty shot Watford in front in the first half, but Ghana star Andre Ayew equalised in the 73rd minute for 10-man West Ham.

Success, who came on as an 82nd minute substitute for Mbaye Niang, nearly stole the win for Watford in added time, just missing a touch in front of an open goal.

West Ham’s Michail Antonio was given a second yellow card and sent off not long after his team’s equaliser.

The visitors were dominant in the second half and looked like going on to get the winner until Antonio’s dismissal handed the initiative back to Watford.

The point took West Ham to the top half of the EPL table, while Watford crept further away from the relegation dogfight.

Odey: I want To Become NPFL’s All-Time Top Scorer

MFM FC forward, Stephen Odey is looking to become the first player to break Mfon Udoh's goals record in the Nigeria Professional Football League, reports
Comple tesportsnigeria.com.

Udoh who plays for seven-time NPFL champions Enyimba International FC of Aba, scored 23 goals in the 2014/2015 season to emerge as the all-time top scorer in the top flight.

Odey netted his sixth goal of the campaign in his side's 2-1 win against champions Enugu Rangers on Friday night which maintained their hundred percent record at the 'Soccer Temple', Agege Stadium, and stated afterwards that he was determined to score more goals this season.

"It will be great if I can become the all-time leading scorer in the league," Odey told
Comple tesportsnigeria.com.

"I have scored six goals already and I'm determined to score more before the end of the season.

" It's not going to be an easy task as defenders will be out to stop me now, but I will keep working in order to achieve my objective.

"I also hope to stay healthy and avoid injuries too."

The Olukoya Boys will next face Katsina United at the Muhammadou Dikko Stadium on Wednesday in a matchday-11 fixture.

MFM FC lost their last away fixture 1-0 to ABS, but he is hopeful they will get a better result this time around.

The young striker said: "It's difficult to play against teams from the northern part of the country especially if you consider the distance but we are getting use to that now.

"Aside from the game against FC Ifeanyiubah which we lost 4-0, we have performed well in all our away games and we will strive to do well against Katsina United."

Ndidi On Ranieri: Thank You, I’ll Miss You!

By Johnny Edward:

Leicester City’s Nigerian midfielder Wilfred Ndidi has admitted that he will miss his former boss Claudio Ranieri, who was sacked last Thursday due to poor results, reports Comple tesportsnigeria.com.

The midfield, who was signed in the January transfer window from Genk by Ranieri, expressed his sadness on Saturday, two days after the Italian’s shock sacking was announced.

“Sadly I didn’t get to spend much time with you, thank you for the opportunity,” Ndidi wrote on Twitter on Saturday with a picture of himself and the coach, along with emojis displaying a sad face and crying.

“You will be missed.”
Ndidi scored once in nine games for Leicester City under Ranieri, who led the Foxes to their first ever Premier League title last season but left them in a relegation battle.

Under caretaker coach, Craig Shakespeare, Ndidi is expected to feature for the Foxes when they face Liverpool in a Premier League clash on Monday.

"I don't expect more than what they have exhibited because they are not machines.”

With Friday’s result, the NPFL champions now languish in 16th position on the table with nine points picked from eight games.

They have won two, drawn 3 and lost 3.

3 matches in 5 days is just retarded. Lets give the rangers a fair chance to defend their crown.
