Its pretty tough here now, and that route will not be viable at this moment. Too many raids and random screening.
Tell the 'Guy' to return home after his visit,and keep his travel history clean o.

So much has been spent for the cofference registration and some other things to a week hotel booking which cost almost $1200 for few days and you think he should just let go of the conference which is starting 17th.. Why would you go ahead to make hotel bookings, flight bookings without an approved VISA. You should only tick the box in the DS-160 form that says you have not made specific travel plans. If I were a VO, that would be suspicious and unwise to me.

You know he was only being sarcastic right? Don't go asking for an LPR at the POE... they'll simply cancel your visa and ship you back home!

Documented immigrants, like those who have over stayed their visas?

You see why indolence and laziness is bad?
The person that replied you either gave you sarcastic or just very terrible advice and you chop am hook, line and sinker. Meanwhile a Quick search on google would answer you or actually Reading the thread. But hey? Why not? Please tell the cbp you want a conversion of your /your uncle's visa. I need an example to be pointing to for future indolent folks.

I had a terrible experience in new York airport. I was refused entry. Reason been my relative address had changed from when I applied for the visa. I was supposed to stay for 13 days. The officer tried to contact the number and address on the form without success. My uncle had told me his wife will receive me. The number he gave me was that of the girlfriend in new York and I think that's where the problem started. The reason for this I guess its because of the wife's attitude problem. But the officer new she was not exactly the wife. When he went tru my uncles status he was able to get his wife number
At that time the wife was already trying to reach me. The wife was in california and she told the cbp officer that she will buy me a ticket to LA. But at that point the guys mind was made up. I had to withdraw my visas voluntarily so as not to be forced out and banned. The officer said i can contact the VO in Nigeria. My questions

Can I explain what happened to the Vo and still be able to apply in the future. If yes how do I go about it. I was only made to know i was refused entry. I don't know if I was banned.

If I still want to attend the visit coz am currently on 4wks leave wish just started. How do I go about it. This was my first trip outside Nigeria and I had boasted about in the office. Just don't know how to face that. Lol.

I also want the record set straight as I will be eligible for secondment overseas in my firm next year. It might be in our USA office. I don't want it to affect me when the opportunity comes.

So sorry to hear about your experience. it is not a good one. You withdrew your application, so you have no ban. But the implication has a great effect on your credibility in getting another visa. Give it time and please no need re applying now.
Evaluating your case it seems you and your uncle messed up.
1- Where was the final destination?
2- Were you in possesion of a local airline ticket to take you to your final destination? And in this case it should be the city where your uncle and wife live in.
3-Your uncle, in my own opinion did not want you at his house. Hence the guise of not giving you the wife's number because she has a 'bad attitude'. The same woman with a bad attitude, tried to cover for you when she was called by saying she will get you a ticket.
4- Why did your uncle not provide his own number to you during this whole process? his number would have been more appropriate.
5-Now on a lighter note, go to Shoprite and buy alot of chocolate. Stay away from the office and return after your supposed 13 days in the states. This will save you some shame as you have bragged at work. and give you some sanity too.

I am so mad. Your uncle didn't want you to stay at his place. If he did, he would have informed you about the change of address because he knew you were coming. This is just sad.

Yes you can reapply. There's a column for 'have you been refused entry'. If you click on it, there'l be space to explain. Thts where you tell your stories with facts and no sentiments. Incluse your uncle's wife's details and let them know they can verify if need be. Of course, you have to get across to her ist.
Check for PIOOT . (I hope I got the moniker right) She ws refused entry and she came back and reapplied and got. Its on the birthing thread.

Some travelling tips for next time. Keep your trip to yourself, not that you fear 'winches' o. Any countrie's POE can spring up surprises, VISA does not guaranty entry. Take pictures on the way, but don't update until you are stamped in and settled. Then nothing can pa
