@Democrat4

Sorry for your ordeal, but I must tell you that the CBP officer was magnanimous not to have issued you an order of "expedited removal" because he/she has the authority to do so. The permission to withdraw your application for admission is a privilege and not a right.  It is solely within the discretion of the CBP officer.

Since you were allowed to voluntarily withdraw your application for admission which means you have not been banned and can re-apply at anytime even though it may raise concerns and questions by a consul. Be prepared to argue your case with your strong ties and hope for a visa officer that will be patient enough to listen to your stories at POE.

Why I won't blame your uncle is the lack of preparedness on your own part.

Did you call your "supposed host" a day to your arrival? Apparently you didn't, otherwise you should have been informed of their relocation and what have you. A hotel booking of less than 2 minutes would have been sufficient.

Why were you sent to secondary in the first instance? You must have given conflicting answers or CBP officer wasn't satisfied with your preliminary answers.

At secondary inspection; was there any incriminating messages found on your phone? What about your baggage? Any work document?

I need to ask because it is rear for a passenger with enough funds coming to the U.S on holiday be turned back at the ports.

You failed to prepare. Good luck reapplying
. There was nothing on my phone. The real issue was the address, I even suggested that I will make a hotel reservation. Now, what are my chances if I reapply.

My brother, alot of people here already gave you their honest opinion. No one can evaluate chances, its not just possible.

We have said this before but it is worth repeating.

Make SURE that your host will be available to take a phone call around the time of your arrival.
Check that any hotel booking is still valid at the time of your arrival.

We do hear tales of people being refused entry because one of these can not be confirmed!

This so called 'village people' are all busy now travelling doing omugwo o, so no time to winchie anybody lol. Personally i feel there is more to the guys story. His Uncles wife is in another state and he landed in another without an onward ticket there. Same aunty that should be picking him up in New york.. His uncle giving him a Gf's number in lieu of the wife's number and he knowingly or unknowlingly provided false information to a cbp officer.

Hello House,
I'd like to share my POE experience. Got into the US last weekend. it was a breeze.

POE Official: Where are you going?
Me: My uncle's house. I will be spending my vacation with him and his family. While there, I will also visit . . .(names some places I wanna see.)
POE: How long do you wanna stay?
Me: 27 days.
POE: Anything to declare? Liquids, foods etc
Me: No. Nothing at all.
POE: Welcome to the US (stamps passport)
Me: Thank you. Have a nice day.

Moves to Baggage Claim.

There. I just paid my dues to this really awesome forum. Warts and all, you guys rock!

traveling to Dubai to complete is vacation make sense.... reason I prefer this middle east airline most time I like doing multi city booking so when I'm returning from U.S I will be able to spend like 2 days in UAE or Qatar and it won't affect my ticket fare except paying like $100 for accomodation, feeding and touring.

Thanks for your remark. Will stick to North and Downtown. I will not be a night crawler. Will visit my friend in Winsconsin too and come back home on time, just 10-12 days visit. In all, am sure I'll be fine

Hello great people in the house, pls I need your assistance. What are the likely questions to be asked at the point of entry and also documents which is Washington?I have a family friend that will be travelling with his family as a first timer.
Secondly,he intend to travel through either Turkish airline or Qatar airline depending on the one that is affordable for the family size which is 2 adults,1 child and an infant.Hope none of these airlines will raise dust at POE?
Also, during the interview which was done last year December,he told the VO that they were to travel before Xmas with the hotel already booked but he couldn't travel because he lost his father and he needed to stay behind for the funeral which is slated around second week of March. They intend to travel around May,hope this will not also raise dust at the POE?
How much is he suppose to hold as PTA being that he is going with his family?
Is it possible to change his destination to NYC were they can stay with a relative they know?

1) If you go through the thread You will see a lot of likely questions at the POE.
2) The most important document is your international passport, money and letter of invitation if you're attending conference
3) Most Airport in U.S are fitted with Marble/tile so no dust will be raise.
4) He should explain why he did not travel when he wanted to travel.
5) Since they are 4 and they have already purchased the return ticket he should have at least more than $2500 with him
6) He can visit anywhere if he's sure of what he's doing and why he is visiting that place instead of where he told the embassy he's visit
7) Since he is you... Have a safe journey Mr Petaocky

@ LadyGuinivere, Seyewest, Omobendel and other gurus in the house.

I would like to travel to U.S on vacation during my annual leave in May 2017 but I am married with 2 kids and I do not intend to go with my family obviously because of cash and their schools. I have previously traveled to Canada (visa expired) but the question is I have been told by someone that why do I want to go on vacation without my family as this may raise an eyebrow from the VO and note that we have never traveled as a family before. I am gainfully employed in Nigeria and I can afford the cost associated with my 10 days trip.

Will applying alone truly raise an eyebrow?
should I book a hotel or get I.V from an uncle in the states?

Thank you.

1. Error abi fallacy. I got my visa. Alone and travelled without family. When asked why I was applying alone, I gave my reason. Do yourself a solid and read the transcripts.

2. Iv/letter. No difference. The main koko is 'do you have ties'? If yes either is ok
