I respect OBJ but he is a hypocrite. He doesn't speak like an elder statesman, I wonder the kind of husband he will be. Any one that knows the enormous documents, proposals, reports & position papers that pile up in the ”incoming” tray of a President will know that it is not possible for a President to read in details all the documents that comes before him. That is the main reason why they have Senior Special Advisers on this & that Matters, that briefs them on certain clauses in the document before him. Having said that a lot will depend on the quality of these Senior Special Advisers for the Presidents actions in their domain. There are very few documents that a President may take all his time to read in between the line before signing. So if President GEJ decide to unban toothpick importation, so what. What did the Chambers of Commerce & the Capitalists do differently within the time that toothpick was under ban. Did they produce Nigerian made substitutes that can price less than the foreign ones, answer is NO, did they initiate any bill or lobby the Legislature to make stringent rules or even to make import duties on toothpick very high so that the locals will go for the Nigerian made answer is NO. Ultimately the president will take glory & blames for success or failure of his government. But I don't agree that a president must Read through to the end all the subjects he appends his signature on. 1 Like |

On the issue of power don't forget that Babangida and OBJ had actually in the past trying to outdo each other on collapsed the state of power (electricity). how did he builkt it--Tell me on records which of those plant you mention was commissioned by OBJ-Did you not know that it is on record that 16billion dollars was stolen during his time under power project that non came alive---Most of those plants you are mentioning where funded built and commissioned during the past administration---Yes it is on record he sign some of the contract but the money was not release to the contractor. The outcome associated with Jonathan presidency can never be different from the goal intended by his political benefactors when they made him the presidential candidate under PDP. The goal of his benefactors of which OBJ is number 1 was not necessarily about good governance but a candidate least likely to upset the status quo. Truth is GEJ is not in the 30th eleven of capable men in the Niger Delta. His main credential was loyalty to the so called king makers. Someone that will always run to baba for advise. I say so because any radical step to move Nigeria forward will not tolerate OBJ's corruption; will also not tolerate Buhari's penchant for violence especially when his comments post 2011 elections inspired sectarian violence. The best candidate would have had individuals like OBJ and his cohorts like Buhari go through judicial processes which would have happened if we had a president with nerves and foresight. Therefore if Jonathan failed it was OBJ who also failed because both are mirror images of the same object. 4 Likes |
