Goodmorning mamas in the house. Please in my DS-160 form, I wrote that i was not travelling with anyone but now things have changed. I intend to travel with my mum who is also my sponsor. We are making arrangements for her to acquire a visa. Please my question is, will this be a problem during her interview or at POE? |

baeboss: I don't think so,it's plain simple,at the time of your interview you thought you could go it alone, but reason later prevailed on you and you decided to go with mama shikina! 2 Likes |
Nope. U are wrong. You have to understand all the steps for this project so u dont get there and face bills. All newborns are seen by a pediatrician. She meant getting one from outside the hospital schedule that day but affiliated with the hospital. Then it'll be cheaper. That's what I did with my first baby. And I paid $120 against the $1000 the hospital would charge if they give you one themselves. Please I need an affordable pediatrician affiliated with Northside hospital, please help 1 Like |

@stephne007 I used Dr Abrams, 2 years ago. He charges $120. I have to go back to my folder of receipts for the name of his clinic but it's in Norcross. 12 mins from the hospital. If you tell Northside you are using Dr. Abrams they know him and have his details. Wait oh, hope Northside is still 3550? |

Oh ok. Just checking they haven't changed their fees. Quick question to the mothers that travel with their toddlers alone before the husband arrives. Where do you "put" them on the day of labor? As in do you take them with you to the hospital or what? I'm asking for non Houston mothers. Coz I think Houston peole have a communal arrangement? Mom2015, what did you do with your toddler during labor? 1 Like |

Beautiful pple, Please I am about to submit my DS160 for for renewal. I am applying with hubby. is it okay we have diff travel dates because he intend traveling 3 weeks after. During our first application, we filled same date though he traveled 29 days after I have already entered the State. That was close to my baby's birth day and he wants to do so this time. |

iphiechuks: I don't think this should pose any problem whatsoever. |

Re: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 5 by TWoods(m): 4:43pm On Feb 28, 2017 |
egariyi: Is this really a serious question? There are no discounts, the Feds subsidize hospitals so poorer Americans can access healthcare cheaper. Asking the hospitals to crosscheck the citizenship of each patient is unreasonable. The job of a doctor is to treat you, not serve as a CBP official. Unfortunately most Nigerians have zero clue that many societies work on a honor system, it is your duty to make sure that you're not defrauding the system. Your question is emblematic of the Nigerian problem. 9 Likes |

temmyo: Hi how are you doing? Please how were you able to get Dr's Correspondence for Baylor Scott and White Hospital. They refused to send anything to me via email the prices being quoted over the phone are higher than what other people said on the thread. Tx |
Re: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 5 by mabels: 4:50pm On Feb 28, 2017 |

I always advice people to send the letter. it wont take more than 5minutes of your time, and this could save you from lots of issues and disappointment later. |
Re: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 5 by temmyo: 4:57pm On Feb 28, 2017 |
MiddyO: You get dr's correspondence from a doctor affiliated with the hospital and not the hospital itself. As for getting an email from the hospital, I wonder why they would refuse. I spoke with the financial counsellor at their hospital in Carrollton and she broke it all down for me. I asked that she send their self pay document via mail and also the fee schedule which she did. After that all discussions between us were via email. 1 Like |
Re: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 5 by mimimum: 5:05pm On Feb 28, 2017 |
But most times from inquiries we send to them, they know we are coming from outside the US. I for one always tell them I am from Nigeria. So why do they still give the discounted self pay prices? Don't understand how it works. Are you saying it is the docs themselves that defraud the system? TWoods: |
Re: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 5 by TWoods(m): 5:24pm On Feb 28, 2017 |
mimimum: As one of the VOs mentioned before (see a post justwise made a few pages back), some doctors purposefully charge you low prices, so they can then bill the government for the rest (the government often would not bother to check until years later). That's a common Medicare/Medicaid scam unfortunately. The problem is many folks here go to these underserved hospitals because of the "discounts" you get... which the rest of us pay for in terms of higher insurance premiums and taxes. If you notice, the average middle class American does not use those hospitals. They'd be sent away if they showed their tax returns. Some day, your children will move here too. We'll see how they enjoy paying for others to come get medical care for free. 5 Likes |
Re: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 5 by MsDenise: 5:34pm On Feb 28, 2017 |
Hi everyone, I have 3 questions regarding the new CBN policy on USD. I understand that PTA is $4000 per person/per quarter and School fees (under form A) is $15,000 per semester. My question is - can Medical fees be applied to Form A (being that it covered Medicals in the past)? Secondly, if the answer to my first question is yes, would it affect the amount of PTA the applicant is eligible to for that quarter? Finally, does Dr Eand Oakbend accept Form A? Thanks guys |
Re: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 5 by MsDenise: 5:37pm On Feb 28, 2017 |
TWoods: I don't think @minimum is trying to deliberately defraud the US Govt. Seems like she genuinely wants more info about how the 'discounts' work and your final comment is a bit rude (especially to someone seeking to understand the process) 5 Likes |
Re: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 5 by TWoods(m): 5:46pm On Feb 28, 2017 |
MsDenise: Frankly anything that is not overly patronizing here is considered "rude" so I've stopped bothering with such comments. As has been enumerated here for over and over - there are no "discounts". You may get a few percent off for paying in cash, but when you're paying 50% or more below what others would regularly pay, someone else is making up that difference somewhere. My last comment was simply to ask you to put yourself in the shoes of others who pay to maintain a system you do not contribute towards but are happy to use. If "discounts" were a thing... all of us would use it too! But when we go to have babies, no one gives us a discount... I wonder why. 5 Likes |
