Good evening nairalanders...
I am an atheist as many contradictions in the bible coupled with real life experiences and other people's ideology have made me seriously doubt the existence of God..
But as of late,I feel everything I do is being made a failure..
I graduated since 2014 with a 2'1 but can't get a job, living itself is a problem as bills are piled up and everything I do seems a failure..

My mum once told me that because I refuse to believe in God I will not get what I look for,although I outrightly dismissed this motion...
But of recent,everything I do is bouncing back...

Atheist in the house, what's your take on this..
And please no xtian should come preach about punishment here ....please

I have a friend who can help you, he is your neighbour, best friend and more caring than your parents. He has been waiting for you to ask for his help a long time, but you never did due to your stubbornness. It only a matter of time you will acknowledge him, his name is JESUS!!!

You said you became an atheist because of many contradictions in the bible and because of other peoples ideologies, this means you became an atheist for the wrong reasons.
The Bible is not the only book about God(s), there are tens of others. Atheism is not an ideology, it is simply a lack of belief in God (s). Different atheists subscribe to different ideologies ( moral, political, social, economic, political or even religious).

Atheism does not promise you anything, atheists pass through all the failures and disappointments others pass through including religious people.
Atheism does not promise you a job and definitely does not promise you success or luck in your endeavours, what being an atheist means is that you rely on your efforts, innovations and self beliefs for success, no skydaddy, no guardian angel, no ghosts. If you feel you need external spiritual help to succeed in life, you better convert to religions that offer that.

The fact that you recently graduated with 2nd class upper means you are young and intelligent ( that is if you got the 2,1 on merit), so use your brains and energy to create value and you will succeed. I did not find work for up to 5 years after graduation, so I created my own job. Seun the owner of this site did not walk the streets with his CV and tie to match looking for job, he used his intelligence and energy to create his own job. Ditto for sowore of Saharareporters and thousands of others.

Being an atheist doesn't mean you are above human problems.

You just have to take control and stop believing some forces are out to get you.
There is nothing like that.
Those who believe god have similar problem too or even worse.

About the job, try to acquire more skills in fields that you think you can excel while you go for interviews too.

When things go wrong, it isn't "God punishing you" as what these guys will have you believe cos you can quickly fault why the so-called righteous suffer too.

Things go wrong when you are out of balance with yourself (what some refer to as God or Life). Yes, inwardly, you should find a balance. Find a comfortable state of mind within and dwell there. By the law of physics, what's inside will of necessity reflect outward and the job and whatever will come naturally.

Meanwhile may I introduce you to the God-sound to help raise and open your consciousness...as you're an atheist, I guess this offer wouldn't fall on the popular stereotype of Christianity and no intention whatsoever to convert you to any religion (it's useless):

You would still have to do what you are required to do to get a job even if you turn to religion. ie. You will apply the same way you did previously etc. If you are going through depression, spirituality might help you in the long run but it doesn't completely cure it. There are many believers/ministers that would readily admit that they go through depression time and again. There is little if any spirituality in the noisy ubiquitous pentecostal churches around IMO. They most likely would only get you to do more for church (outreach/evangelism/meetings) than aid in the healing of your soul. If you were previously a christian, read about the Orthodox church and Spirituality (Theosis). We believe the Church is a hospital.

On the other hand, you need to check your CV and your cover letters that you've been sending and if you're not over the age. Many people resign because of the stiff competition but they forget to look inwards. The first step towards any form of improvement is to accept that your current situation is a result of your actions/choices (not some spiritual force) then you would begin to look inwards on how to make things better for yourself by your effort and focus on the things that matter that you want.

Is unfortunate you re in the wrong place at the right time, which is a NATURAL DISASTER.

God or devil is not responsible for your problems.

It seems the OP is suffering from depression. I believe most young people (18 - 25 yrs) suffer from one form of depression or the other as they discover themselves and their place in society. The difference is in the severity of the depression. Some are mild and are hardly noticeable, while others are chronic and sometimes suicidal. It is this depression that makes youths susceptible to religious and cult fanatism, others show symptoms in rebellious and antisocial behaviours.
Family support is crucial in helping youth cope with this depression phase. Being busy pursuing other goals like education, career or other passion can help mitigate the effect of depression. The worst enemy of depression is being idle with no goals or ambition.
