Looks to me that there is a credible case of perjury against AG Jeff Sessions. Firstly, he gave an untruthful statement, under oath, to the Senate Judiciary committee. Secondly, during his press conference, he perfectly recalled a 1991 meeting with Russian officials, but developed sudden amnesia about meeting the Russian ambassador to the US only a few months ago.. Those facts alone are grounds for immediate investigations by the US Attorney responsible for D.C. 4 Likes |

https://www.wsj.com/articles/jeff-sessions-used-political-funds-for-republican-convention-expenses-1488509301 The Trump administration says Attorney General Jeff Sessions was acting as a then-U.S. senator when he talked to Russia’s ambassador at an event during last year’s Republican National Convention in Cleveland, but Mr. Sessions paid for convention travel expenses out of his own political funds and he spoke about Donald Trump’s campaign at the event, according to a person at the event and campaign-finance records. Mr. Sessions made comments related to Mr. Trump’s presidential campaign at a Heritage Foundation event during the Republican convention in July, when he met with Russian Ambassador Sergei Kislyak, according to a person at the event in Cleveland. Mr. Sessions on Thursday said he would recuse himself from involvement in any probe related to the 2016 presidential campaign, following disclosures that he met with the Russian ambassador during the convention, and later in his Senate office in Washington. Interactions between U.S. senators and foreign ambassadors are relatively common. But Mr. Sessions has come under fire for not disclosing his contacts with Mr. Kislyak during his Senate confirmation hearing to become attorney general. Democratic lawmakers have accused him of misleading Congress and called on him to resign. Representatives for the White House and Mr. Sessions have defended his failure to disclose his contacts with the Russian ambassador by arguing that the exchanges occurred in his capacity as a U.S. senator, rather than as a campaign official. Mr. Sessions denied that he misled lawmakers during his confirmation hearing, calling the allegation “totally false” and saying his answers were “honest and correct” based on his understanding of the questions. At the time Mr. Sessions met the Russian ambassador at the convention, he had been serving as chairman of Mr. Trump’s National Security Advisory Committee for more than four months. “He was literally conducting himself as a United States senator,” White House press secretary Sean Spicer said Thursday. He said Mr. Sessions didn’t discuss matters related to Mr. Trump’s campaign. “This is what senators do in the course of conducting themselves in their jobs,” he said. A spokesman for the Russian embassy didn’t respond to a request for comment. A U.S. counterintelligence probe of alleged communications between Russians and members of President Trump’s campaign team have looked at Mr. Sessions’ contacts, people familiar with the matter said. It’s unclear if the probe is still looking at those contacts. The investigation is overseen by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, along with several other agencies, officials have said. Counterintelligence probes seldom lead to public accusations or criminal charges. The Senate Intelligence Committee and the FBI are looking into any possible links between the Trump campaign and Russia after the U.S. intelligence community concluded Russia was behind hacking that interfered with the 2016 campaign. Mr. Trump has denied any connection between his campaign and Russia. Campaign-finance-disclosure records show Mr. Sessions’ re-election campaign account was used for travel expenses in Cleveland at the same time the Republican National Convention was held in July, rather than using official funds that would pay for travel by him or other members of the Senate Armed Services Committee. On July 16, two days before the convention began, his campaign account made two payments of $1,395 to the Sheraton Cleveland Airport. A week later, the account made two payments to the Westin Hotel in Cleveland totaling $223. All payments were described as for “lodging.” No payments reimbursing Mr. Sessions appear in Mr. Trump’s campaign account, the records show. Sarah Isgur Flores, a spokeswoman for Mr. Sessions, said she was unable to comment on his convention expenses. Larry Noble, general counsel at the Campaign Legal Center, a nonpartisan advocacy group, said Mr. Sessions likely used his campaign account, rather than official Senate funds, because as a senior adviser to the Trump campaign it would have been difficult to argue that he wasn’t attending the convention for any political purpose. “If he was truly there solely as a member of the Armed Services Committee, then he could’ve used his legislative account,” Mr. Noble said. One person at the Heritage event in Cleveland said Mr. Sessions left the impression he was there because of his role in the Trump campaign. This person said Mr. Sessions’ remarks in part were focused on Mr. Trump’s trade policy, saying the then-candidate would do away with multilateral trade deals. Ms. Flores, Mr. Sessions’ spokeswoman, said the attorney general’s aides, who were at the Heritage Foundation event, don’t recall Mr. Sessions speaking about the election with Mr. Kislyak, though they couldn’t be sure, because the room was loud. Staffers who were with him during a second meeting with Mr. Kislyak, which took place Sept. 8 in his Senate office, also didn’t recall any discussion of the election, she said. Mr. Sessions didn’t definitively rule out the possibility that he had additional meetings. “I don’t recall having met him before those two meetings,” he said at a news conference Thursday. He also said he doesn’t think he met with any Russian officials besides Mr. Kislyak. Beside Mr. Sessions, the FBI inquiry has examined contacts between the Russian ambassador and Mr. Trump’s former national security adviser Mike Flynn, who resigned in February over his failure to accurately describe his conversations. Several other associates of Mr. Trump’s campaign also have come under federal scrutiny. Mr. Trump’s son-in-law, Jared Kushner, now a senior White House adviser, met in December with Mr. Kislyak, along with Mr. Flynn, the White House said Thursday. A senior administration official said it was “a brief courtesy meeting at Trump Tower” in New York. Another campaign aide, J.D. Gordon, met with Mr. Kislyak during the Republican convention, a White House spokeswoman said, adding to the number of known contacts between Trump campaign associates and Russian officials. Mr. Gordon couldn’t be reached for comment on Wednesday. Mr. Sessions was the first sitting senator to back Mr. Trump, formally endorsing the New Yorker in February 2016. Mr. Sessions went on to become one of Mr. Trump’s most high-profile surrogates, speaking for him on cable television and serving as an ambassador to Capitol Hill, where many Republicans were skittish about Mr. Trump’s candidacy. Mr. Sessions went on to deliver the formal nomination of Mr. Trump at the Republican National Convention. https://www.wsj.com/articles/jeff-se...ses-1488509301 "Mr. Trump’s son-in-law, Jared Kushner, now a senior White House adviser, met in December with Mr. Kislyak, along with Mr. Flynn, the White House said Thursday. Under federal law, 18 USC 1621, Perjury is knowingly and willfully making a false statement under oath. It is as simple as that. You won’t run out of ink writing it down. You don’t need to be a great thinker to comprehend the plain meaning of the statute. If Sessions was acting in his capacity as a United State Senator and did not discuss the election campaign, then he did not commit perjury. In other words, his statements to the Judiciary Committee were truthful, not lies as Pelosi claims. Yet, armed with no evidence whatsoever, she has convicted Sessions without the benefit of a trial. Her accusations are not just baseless, given the known facts, but contemptible. Perhaps Nancy Pelosi is the one who should resign. For being irresponsible. For leveling reckless recriminations and slurs. Her only defense may be incompetence. It is the oft-used excuse of the Fool. Case in point: Democratic Senator Claire McCaskell. After criticizing Sessions for meeting with the Russian ambassador and claiming she had never done so in her 10 years on the Armed Services Committee, it turns out that her own tweets betrayed her. The record shows she bragged on social media about two of her meetings with him. Don’t be ashamed, Claire. It is not a crime to speak to a Russian 3 Likes 1 Share |

http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/us-politics/donald-trump-russia-christopher-steele-dossier-us-senate-intelligence-hotel-british-spy-mi6-evidence-a7608456.html US Senate calls on British spy Christopher Steele to give evidence on explosive Trump-Russia dossier Christopher Steele, the former MI6 spy who prepared the explosive Trump report, has been approached about testifying before the US Senate Intelligence Committee’s investigation into the new President’s alleged links with Russia, The Independent can reveal. Mr Steele’s friends say it is currently unlikely he would be willing to travel to the US. But it is understood Democrats – as well as some Republicans – in Congress are prepared to facilitate discreet initial meetings in the UK or on other neutral territory. John McCain, the former Republican presidential candidate, and chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee, sent an intermediary to London in November last year to collect Mr Steele’s dossier, which was subsequently passed personally by the Senator to FBI director James Comey. And Mr Steele had, while carrying out his Trump inquiry, himself liaised for regular periods with the bureau. Mr Trump has personally attacked Mr Steele, declaring the report on the Kremlin connection by the former MI6 officer as a fabricated work, put together by a “failed spy”. In reality, Mr Steele was, and continues to be, held in high regard by British security and intelligence services as well as the American security officials who worked with him in the past. It emerged this week that the FBI had, at one stage, proposed to pay him to continue his investigation into Mr Trump and his associates. But that deal fell through and Mr Steele ultimately continued to work without pay because he was so worried by what he was discovering. Mr Steele has not yet responded to requests to meet with Senate officials – described as informal at this stage – for testimony, which have come over the last fortnight. But friends say he may be willing to speak about his investigation to senators and US officials if certain security conditions are met. The development comes amid fresh revelations of the Trump administration’s interaction with the Russians. It has emerged that Jeff Sessions, the Attorney General, was in contact with Moscow’s ambassador to the US during the election campaign. Mr Trump’s national security adviser, Lieutenant General Michael Flynn, was forced to resign after details of similar communications surfaced last month. It has also emerged that in the last days of Barack Obama’s presidency, officials were so worried that the incoming Trump administration would try to suppress or destroy incriminating material that they passed on information to the intelligence agencies and senior figures in Congress. There is now similar concern that the Trump White House is trying to sabotage the Russia investigations. Democrats have asked for an inquiry into attempts by White House chief of staff, Reince Priebus, to get the FBI to dismiss media reports about members of Mr Trump’s coterie contacting Russian officials. The drive to contact Mr Steele and others, according to those familiar with the issue, is to try and ensure that as much information as possible is gathered by the Senate Intelligence Committee. The committee is carrying out its own investigation, separate from one being conducted by the FBI, on the Russian links and attempts by the Kremlin to interfere in the American political process. There will, however, be mutual sharing of relevant material. The Washington Post this week reported the plan by the FBI to pay Mr Steele, who was one of MI6’s foremost Russia specialists, to continue his inquiries. The Independent understands that the offer came after the discovery of a campaign of cyber hacking on state electoral systems in September, which led to a public charge against Moscow by the Obama administration. Mr Steele became involved in the Trump investigation through the Washington-based firm Fusion GPS, which had been hired by Republican opponents of Mr Trump in September 2015. In June 2016, Mr Steele joined up with the team. In July, Mr Trump won the Republican nomination and the Democrats became new employers of Mr Steele and Fusion GPS. With that contract due to come to an end with the election, the FBI stepped in with its offer of funding. Mr Steele has been regularly supplying information to the FBI. In June last year, for instance, he produced a memo which went to the bureau stating that Mr Trump’s campaign team had agreed to a Russian request to dilute attention on Moscow’s intervention in Ukraine. Four days later Mr Trump stated that he would recognise Moscow’s annexation of Crimea: officials involved in his campaign having already asked the Republican party’s election platform to remove a pledge for military assistance to the Ukrainian government against separatist rebels in the east of the country. Mr Steele claimed the Trump campaign was taking this path because it was aware that the Russians were hacking Democratic Party emails. The same day that Mr Trump spoke about Crimea, he called on the Kremlin to hack Hillary Clinton’s emails. However, Mr Steele became increasingly frustrated that the FBI was failing to take action on the intelligence from others as well as him. He came to believe there was a cover-up, that a cabal within the bureau blocked a thorough inquiry into Mr Trump, focusing instead on the investigation into Hillary Clinton’s emails. The MI6 officer’s passing of information to the FBI ceased in December last year. 3 Likes |

Here are the quotes in context: Franken "'Russian operatives claimed to have compromising personal and financial information about Mr. Trump.' These documents also allegedly say quote, ‘There was a continuing exchange of information during the campaign between Trump's surrogates and intermediaries for the Russian government.’ "Now, again, I'm telling you this as it's coming out, so you know. But if it's true, it's obviously extremely serious and if there is any evidence that anyone affiliated with the Trump campaign communicated with the Russian government in the course of this campaign, what will you do?" Sessions: "Senator Franken, I'm not aware of any of those activities. I have been called a surrogate at a time or two in that campaign and I didn't have — did not have communications with the Russians, and I'm unable to comment on it." See?, taking quotes out of context changes the entire narrative. The bumbling Frankenstein question was in regards to the campaign and Sessions answered him in regards to the campaign. You know it and Pelosi knows it. You sore losers are deliberately being obtuse. She only cares about her party, not the people of this country. She proved that at the congressional address when she couldn't even applaud for jobs being created etc. Trump could promise to pay for every woman's abortion, birth control, and tuition, and completely do away with borders( isn't that all you limbs care about?) and all of you would still find fault because it's Trump. 1 Like |

obixcel: The funny thing was he was not asked "Did you have contact with the Russians?", he was asked "... What will you do?". Why did he need to now make the question about him having contact with the Russians? He implicated himself, no one did it for him. He didn't even answer the question he was asked. 5 Likes 1 Share |

POLITICIANS AND HYPOCRISY: INSEPARABLE If you cannot be HYPOCRITICAL, then you cannot be a good politician. Hypocrisy is nothing to them. You have to be able to pummel others for what you yourself revel in. You have to be able to hide the log in your own eyes but scream at the pecks in the eyes of others. In short, you have to be heartless. You have to be conscienceless. And this is common to politicians of all nations, of all ages. You won't know how hypocritical a party and the members are until they get to power. Who would know that APC and its members are bunch of hypocrites. In America, I've always known those who ply their trade on the Republican side of the aisle to be the most hypocritical set you can come across. They come across as 'saints' pretending to have values. LIES! Look at the current gladiators. Everything they accused Hillary Clinton of, they all are GUILTY of. Their disgraced NSA who was forced out for lying was once fired by Obama for sharing classified information. Their current AG practically LIED UNDER OATH to Congress to be confirmed as AG. And now this revelation; the sitting Vice President who was so critical of Hillary use of private email for official business has just been found to have used his own private email as governor of Indiana. Let's not even talk of the president's notoriety for lying. I remember how Newt Gingrich's harangued Bill so badly during Monica Lewinsky sex scandal before his own escapades was exposed. Pot calling kettle black. Bunch of super-hypocrites they are. Reason I remain proudly a Democrat. Lesser of two evils. Dapo Rotifa.. 1 Like |

LordReed: That's small fry compared to the billions Obongo stashed away that's being used to irritate Trump! Well, wait for the blowback soon!!! OBAMA COUP? Obama stole BILLIONS through the Department of Justice via payouts to liberal activist groups Obama set up an unknown number of ways to finance coup attempts after he was out of office via American taxpayer dollars. Here is how it works: You set up an automatic payout within the government that goes to a foundation, "contract", whatever you dream up before you leave office. Once out, you front as whatever "legitimate" organization received the payout, and then use it for whatever you want. These payouts usually do not ever expire. Obama used a payout through the Department of Justice, to a shell organization he set up. And that's just what he got caught for, there is no telling how many other payouts he set up, or that any of the previous government officials set up. America could, in fact, be getting bled to death with most tax dollars simply going in the trash via permanent payouts to shell companies and organizations that people set up while in office. Trump now has a huge job of finding out how much B.S. is getting paid to. We all knew there was no possible way the government could spend so much for what we get in return, and this could explain why. As it turns out, in this ONE payout alone that was funneled through the Department of Justice, Obama was taking billions to fund himself and liberal activist groups. This is not internet rumor, Fox News covered it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M5N-7n1jgDs 2 Likes 1 Share |

The GOP has been up in arms for the last few years about these arrangements, which they say help Obama funnel money to groups he supports, outside the regular appropriations process, and short-change consumers who should be the beneficiaries of these settlements.
