Good. But those one world stuff do not suit an average black person. We like to exaggerate a bit. So those flawless, deafening, excruciating and so on do not sound Nigerian. We should embrace our own. By the way some dictionaries show Canadian, Australian, New Zealander & even South African words (albeit mostly from Afrikaans) in addition to regular American words. Even Indian. Too ajebuttic. However, when writing it becomes more important. Emphasis should be on developing Pidgin, controlled by us. We cannot be imitating and playing second fiddle always. 1 Like |

abbeyty: It right there in front of you, you just can't see it. Without derailing the thread nor being off topic. Do a visibility study on rich folks in your area or on the island(VI, Lekki e.t.c) with kids, get a Dictionary and learn 5000 words with their proper British English prononciation, also learn about the words origin, get suited up, create a business card with your full details proclaiming you as a tutor, walk up to the parents gates or door, take permission from the gateman(Tell him you wan see Oga or Madam) walk straight to the Oga or Madam, Introducing yourself in the best and most profound British ascent as an ''Oral English Tutor'', then let your intention of tutoring their kids know to them at a monthly fee ranging between N10,000K - N20,000K per child(Chose a fee that best suits you), then procede to teaching the kids Ten Big Words per day, and see if that bank account wont increase. By the time you are well know and the kids you now tutor increases to lets say 100 kids in your tutoring facility, your monthly income would amount to the figure below. 20K * 100kids monthly = N2million Hope have made sense, still on the topic of discussion ? 1 Like |

Fuadeiza: You have defined your problem and in there lies the solution - get a crowd that would upgrade your grammar and one in which you could try out new words. From experience, I used to try out those words with the same crowd I rolled with but never quite got inspired to move further. I resolved to writing them down in a book, with their synonyms/meanings and studying them periodically. That helped commit them into memory. Regards, Yesboss! 1 Like |
