Mujtahida: Messi and Ronaldo would have dominated in the Zidane, Ronaldo era. Their domination now does not show the dearth of quality players, it shows how lucky folks like Ronaldinho were. In fact, you constantly hear them say that these two are the best they have seen and wished they played with them. Based on the quality they bring to the team at their prime, Zidane is not far away from Xavi and Iniesta. People forget how Iniesta and Xavi were eclipsed for the top award just by being teammates with Messi. Based on sheer quality, Ronaldo de Lima is not far away from Zlatan. If Zlatan was born a Brazilian in the Ronaldo era, he would have won the World Cup. There is nothing Ronaldo would have done to win the Euros with this Swedish team. In fact based on sheer consistency in churning out the numbers, Zlatan beats him. Everywhere Zlatan went, he was banging in goals and all his teammates and coaches recognize the value and extraordinarily leadership he brings on the team. Ronaldo is more skilful and has more pace, but sheer leadership, strength and aerial prowress, Zlatan is miles ahead. Anyway, back to the Eagles. I'm disappointed with this list. Osimhen has no place in the team, neither does Shehu, or Muhammed Musa, or Awaziem. We need to encourage players playing regularly. I expected to see Sone Aluko. And since the Nigerian league is in session, we should have called up players playing in the local league for Osimhen, Musa and Awaziem. I watched a NPFL game the other day and my, the quality has come up. I heard StarTimes is now sponsoring the NNL, we have to encourage these projects. I keep repeating that there are excellent players in the NPFL, and I know someone like komekn will shoot back that they are overaged. Doesn't matter. If you are good enough, you are young enough. There is no reason why that guy that scored the CNN goal of the week cannot be invited to camp. This is how to develop the league. That La Liga has even partnered with the league and there are players already leaving for the best league in the world shows we are doing a world of disservice to them. I was pained to see that 25-year old Rangers guy go to Sweden, he has no reason to go there based on his quality. He is better than some of these players we see in the french league. If he had been recognized and played by past coaches, I am positive that he would have performed. Someone with the quality of Nwobodo is rotting away in the league and we are inviting Osimhen who has not played a single game of professional football. SMH 5 Likes 1 Share |

joseph1013: Shehu and Awaziem are playing regularly, though in less fancied leagues. I believe the invitation of Osimhen, Musa, Awaziem and Sarenren is geared towards 2018 than their immediate use to the team. I think the coach has a future vision. If you read his interview with fifa.com, he expressed a willingness to work with the youth. The coach has always invited Shehu Abdullah, his versatility is an asset to any coach. He has seen him up close several times and continues to invite him so there's some quality there. As regards the home based players, that is what Salisu and Imamah are there for, they are supposed to suggest the best league players for Rohr. The fact that they are still calling Ezenwa is problematic because he is no longer first choice at his club. Are these local coaches doing their jobs? Apart from the absence of Onyekuru and Brian Idowu, it is a decent list. I am not satisfied with the Goalkeeper list too. 3 Likes |

tbaba1234: You have a valid point there. Rohr is not just building a team to achieve results today he is also building a team that will continue to stay on top. As for Onyekuru, maybe Rohr feels we have enough wings options for now. I mean, with the likes of Iwobi, Moses, Musa, Success and Simon. For now I dnt believe Onyekuru can offer more than what the available wingers can. Also Onyekuru is pretty young and we are not at risk of losing him to any other country. He would most likely get his own call up in subsequent games this year. As for Idowu, I also feel he is trying not to invite too many new players that he would not field. He probably had to chose between inviting Ebuehi and Idowu. Ebuehi may slip from our hands if we dnt move now but as for Idowu we already have him in our bag. He will likely get a call-up in our subsequent games. 4 Likes 1 Share |

Icon4s: Let us be truthful to ourselves. Why on earth will a coach leave out one of the best performing players churning in MOTM right left center for players who are anonymous even in an obscure league or academy? Why Osimhen and not Onyekuru? Why Isaac and not Aluko? Why Aweriem and not Otigba? Why Musa and not Brain? Why invite inactive Ikechuckwu and not Nwokolor? Nonsense Nigerian coaches are influencing Rohr's decisions. 1 Like |

forgiveness: Osimhen for Onyekuru bc we are more in need of strikers than wingers, Awaziem for Otigba bc Otigba has largely been inactive this season. Besides, he is also grooming youngsters to ensure continuity. Osimhen and Awaziem may not make the Matchday squad Like I said earlier he probably was torn in-between inviting Ebuehi and Idowu. He does nt want to field two debutants in the defense in one game. He have picked Ebuehi in this game, Brian could be called in a next game. Ikechukwu inactive how? A palyer I saw in goal in one of last weekend's NPFL games. And to ur last statement. Yes, Rohr is working with a team of coaches but he is in control. I like his choice of players for these two friendlies. 2 Likes |

Joseph 1013 age has become a marketing tool if you ask me, but completely unfairly. I would say that a good number of our players in the local league are capable of becoming world beaters. However, corruption, favoritism and fraudulent agents delay if not stop thier progression. By the time the get an opportunity it's almost too late. Imagine the untreated injuries that they play through cutting thier careers short. Essentially our players are DENIED OPPORTUNITY at local level. I saw Etebo at Warri Wolves and thought he was ready then for the premiership. We need to start giving local players opportunities. If boys can come from local academies straight to first rate European teams. Why then can't local players be showcased at the National level. Was it not Ifeanyi Uba team play a Spanish team and held thier own. In the past they would have been completely run over but things have changed considerably now. The average Nigerian player is technically superior by a considerable margin than the average English player. Now put him in the same nutritional, medical support and training environment who will be BETTER I was at Leeds a few weeks ago I was shocked at the very low level of technical ability by young players who are being marketed in excess of £8 million. I believe that a good number of our top local teams will hold thier own if not beat most championship teams and even a few EPL teams. But the big word is Opportunity. We have the same problem here too. You only know the black guys who made it not the ones that were pushed out to make way for big money transfer deals and other preferences. I watched the man of the match Roarie Deacon (black player) when Sutton played Arsenal in the FA Cup. He was outstanding top quality but he is playing non league why 1 Like |

komekn:This the 5th time England is winning the Toulon Tournament Since its inception in 1967. Toulon Tornament is not a FIFA organised tournament. England does not take FIFA under age tournaments that serious like other Countries do. Maybe due to their effective youth league and academies that serve as a good training ground for raising talents and super stars. So tell me the aspect you do not agree with completely. 1 Like |

the list as a whole is okay for me personally the only sticky point for me is the invitations of akpeyi and ezenwa. akpeyi doesn't inspire confidence while i'm not 100% ezenwa is the best goalkeeper we have in the league now. onyekuru and aluko are due call ups too but i can understand rohr not inviting them cos of our strength on the wings at the moment. anyway their is still time for the duo to change rohr's mind. in attack success has been overdue to make his debut while osimhen is a good promising player. as for the german born guy i guess rohr has scouted him and is convinced he has quality to contribute meaningfully to the national team but if i had my way i would have preferred calling the best locally based striker at the moment to the squad. now on issue of rohr not beaming his search light on england to unearth british born nigerian players i think he can only go to where he has more contacts and experience eg. germany, france aside that as competitive and talent filled english football is it is not as if it is a sort of eldorado for talented youth players. players born and bred in england have represented the english national for donkey years internationally with nothing to show for it. the last euros the english team filled with 'great' youth players like harry kane, dele alli, danny rose, sterling etc were knocked out unceremoniously by iceland a country whose population is barely more than that of bonny island. last world cup the same thing. i'm even happy that rohr is looking for players in the home of world champs that sounds more logical to me. seems the midfield for the games against senegal and burkina faso will consist of etebo, ndidi and onazi although this would be a good time to experiment with iwobi in the CM role 2 Likes |

Icon4s: If we are in need of strikers na Osimhen wey never kick ball for donkey years na em go come led almighty Super Eagle's attack when Fernando, Onyekuru and Kayode dey bang in goals? Why bring Isaac Success over Aluko? Success wey never get himself. I disagree with you on Brian Idowu. We know Musa is not good enough for the Eagles but your are still calling him. I think something dey behind his call up. Moreover, we were told Rohr wanted to text Idowu and Ebuechi on the left wing but why the sudden change? I smell rat. We know the antics Keshi used for selections during his days. He never called informed players and when he did, he never gave them the chance to shine. He tried as much as possible to play his yeye players severally hoping they will transform into Messi or Ronaldo but na lie. Quack na quack. We want stiff competitions and not one kin excuses. Maybe, na Keshi antics those Nigerian coaches are trying too hard to sell to Rohr. He no go work. So, two friendlies are not enough to test two players? That one me I no gree. Otigba is still playing in Turkish Fa cups and whenever he played, he did well. Then, why neglect pros by bringing kindergartens into the Nigerian national team? is it for the unacceptable excuses that we are planning for 2018 World Cup. Una think say na kindergartens dey win World cup? Ikechuckwu is not good enough for the Eagles. He's only invited to earn money and share with those giving him invitations. We know na. If Carl Ikeme gets injured or receive red in a tournament, na that time una eyes go clear when Ikechuckwu dey chop goals right left and center. We need our best players. That's all. 2 Likes |

BascoVanVeli:When you take stock of players like Chuba Akpom, Alex Iwobi, Dominic Solanke, Dele Alli, Tammy Abraham, Ojo, Ibe, etc who were all eligible to play in the previous FIFA U17 or FIFA U20. You will discover that if they were a bit serious, they should get to atleast the finals, looking at the quality of talents their youth system churn out every now and then. That is why I concluded they do not take FIFA under age tournaments serious. They have good home grown players both in academies, the championship and even in the premier league. So what stops them from going to these tournaments for the Gold 1 Like |

terzurum5: Its a bit of a muddle the English FA wants to win youth tournaments and takes them seriously. However, the best youth players are already playing first team football. And these highly competitive clubs are unwilling to release them for age group competitions particularly when the season is ongoing. Another issue us the players when you have some youth players on £30k a week and are being courted by the cream of Europes big clubs and are already in the senior national team. They feign injury or some other excuse because they feel they have passed that level. It doesn't bring any value to thier market rating and don't want to risk injury. 1 Like |

Ex-Sunderland Defender : Nigeria Would Have Won 1992 AFCON If They Bribed The Referee Former Southampton and Sunderland left back Reuben Agboola has sensationally claimed that the Super Eagles would have won their second African Cup of Nations back in 1992 if they had bribed the Tunisian referee Neji Touini in their semifinal encounter against Ghana. The Super Eagles did not qualify for the showpiece game after losing 2-1 to the Black Stars despite Mutiu Adepoju opening the scoring in the 11th minute, and the sweeper has hinted that the referee made bad calls that didn’t favor the Nigeria side. “The ref in that semi-final seemed determined that we were not going to go through. That’s how I saw it playing the match. It was a disgrace, ” Agboola told supersport.com. “We had a player sent off did we not? (Ajibade Babalade). There you go then”. In a no-holds-barred interview, the London-born Agboola revealed that he was not part of the squad at USA 1994 because he refused to buy a ticket to join the squad at their get-together as the Nigerian Federation did not reimburse him for tickets bought in earlier matches. Young German-Based Striker Suffers Injury Scare Ahead Of Senegal, Burkina Faso Friendlies Hannover 96 had been sweating on the fitness of Noah Joel Sarenren Bazee ahead of their 2 Bundesliga clash with Karlsruher at Wildparkstadion on Saturday. The new Super Eagles invitee could not complete training on Wednesday due to a strain but has been given the all-clear to return to full training, leaving him in contention to face KSC. Noah Joel Sarenren Bazee’s availability for the friendlies with Senegal (March 23) and Burkina Faso (March 27) remains covered in mist as he is not yet in possession of a Nigerian passport. Indeed, the official website of Hannover has hinted and listed a couple of players that will be on international duty this month, and tactically refused to mention the name of Bazee. The 20-year-old is being fast-tracked into the Nigerian national team by coach Rohr, eleven months after making his professional debut for his German club.
