Suppose that f(x) = 1/x+1 and g(x) = 4/x+1. Find the domain of each of the composition
a) f o g
b) f o f

In the first place, you're suppose to state that x cannot be zero!

Suppose that f(x) = 1/x+1 and g(x) = 4/x+1. Find the domain of each of the composition
a) f o g
b) f o f

SOLUTION
a) f o g = 1 / [(4/(x+1)) + 1]
f o g = 1 / [(4+x+1)/(x+1)]
f o g = (x+1)/(x+5)

b) f o f = 1 / [(1/(x+1)) + 1]
f o g = 1 / [(1+x+1)/(x+1)]
f o g = (x+1)/(x+2)

x=2

f(5) = 2.2sq - 3.2 + 5

= 7
