Hallo my NL family.... in the spirit of giving back; Left Lagos for Houston on the 3rd of March with Qatar. Checked in online and chose seat. Got to airport checked in my luggages. Then was asked to go get the "fit to fly" ceritificate form port health, which I did.... then proceeded to board. Onboard- nice airline; seat was comfy, got a row to my self on both leg. Crew members were so lovely always checking on me. Waiting time in Doha was 8hrs; went by so fast though Landed Houston an 1hr earlier than scheduled. Queue was so long but fast too. To the POE story. CBP: why are you here (place our 4 left fingers there....) me: for vacation and childbirth CBP: How long are you staying ME: 12weeks CBP: How much do you have on you? ME: $5025 CBP: How do u hope to pay up cos that wont be enough ME: My husband will be joining me later, he's bringing more cash CBP: (pointing to the address on my custom form) who stays in this address? Me: my cousin CBP: (stamps me in till Sept) enjoy your stay and have a safe delivery. Picked up my luggage. Met another CBP desk when custom declaration form was dropped. Askwd if I had any food item. I said No only peanuts.... he said u may go. Was thinking there will be another place. Na so I w aka straight to d door to my cousin waiting for me. Have a good day everyone & thanks alot to everyone that contributed on this page. 24 Likes 2 Shares |

Hello sirs and mas please I need your opinions and advice. Thinking of going for another missionary journey and this time Wana go with my mum. But the thing is I have visa, but she doesn't. If I go with her to the embassy to secure one for her, please what are the likely questions they might ask us. Plus will they ask of hospital bill (receipt) or my first child? Please help me out. Thanks |

YETI28: You are not a visa officer. You don't have any business going to the embassy with your mum. Except she needs an interpreter and they'll provide one. Let her fill her form and reason should be to look after you and her grandchild. Give her your receipts in case they ask. Your data page, visa copy and your previous child's data page. You don't have to go with hr to hold her hand. She'll be fine. 2 Likes |

Shawbabe: Hello Shawbabe, I know I can get most of this information on the thread but I am already suffering from information overload. Can you run me through the following. 1. Had my baby on Wednesday, Eastside Medical Atlanta- Filled the BC form on thursday. Thinking of approaching the Vital office office tomorrow Monday to pick it up.- Do I have to do a money order for this or I can pay right there and then? Any form of documentation I need to go along with? 2. Passports- Do I need to make any form of online applications before I approach their offices? If yes- can you help with the links? I would love to do money orders before I approach these offices as well- do you know the exact cost to expedite both the Nigerian and American passports? Thanks 3 Likes |

YETI28: you can go with her if you want, but you might not be allowed in since you are not apply. Add a copy of your visa to her application and let her state in her application she's going with you and that you already have a visa. Give her al supporting documents. make sure what you used in obtaining your own visa tallys with hers. eg Hotel or Accommodation plans, state in extra explanation that you are footing the bills etc... this should do it and also let them know why she's going with you and what she does currently. Above all keep a positive mind. It's never a one way shot atimes. cheers 1 Like |

Hi guys, i have been reading about this topic and forum for sometime and my wife shared some before we had our baby in Texas. But what surprises is that people hardly talk about midwife birthing and i wonder why. Midwife or Water birthing is cheaper for non complicated pregnancy, non first borns etc The good thing about it is the midwife clinics are linked to some specialist hospitals incase anything happens but you only use it if you are sure your pregnancy is not complicated. My wife did not use it because pregnancy was complicated but had wholesome information while trying to look for something cheaper but the hospital we used was quit ok in terms of price. My advise for those having babies abroad, have seen threads where people say no need to carry out test due to cost, PLEASE!!!!!!! DO THE TEST, what is the point of spending $7,000 to give birth and you cannot do a $150 test? or what is the point of having the child under sophisticated equipment and you bring the child to naija to come fix hearing problem or jaundice or any other child birth issues, when the child can even be fully attended to. Infact once you child is fully registered as a US citizen he begins to enjoy benefits. SO HELP YOUR CHILD AND HELP YOURSELF. Cheers.... 3 Likes |

debby516: The funny thing is I have gone through the process before, too bad I am quite forgetful on details hence my question. That said. . . . Same doctor Dr Emmanuel Soyoola- bill now $3,150(Labs, Ultrasound, Prenatal office visits, Vaginal delivery) Made payment of $3,600 to Eastside Medical Center(waiting for final bill-possibly by tomorrow), Epidural $950(Totalis $1,950 but discounted if prepaid), Pediatrician $600 for 2 days hospital stay. For Visa transcript, See below the post I shared Jan 10th 2015 on the locked thread! My interview was quite brief and interesting. Wifey and I went to the consulate dressed simple in shirts and sneakers. Tension was quite high. 10 Likes |

olayoife: One big flaw here... while it is true that a US citizen child qualifies for benefits, You were granted a visa to birth strictly based on the understanding that you will bear all the associated costs without recourse to public assistance. Please adhere to the terms of your visa. Not to nitpick but why should a VO issue you a visa to go use a midwife in America when you can easily find one in Lagos? 10 Likes |

"Infact once you child is fully registered as a US citizen he begins to enjoy benefits. SO HELP YOUR CHILD AND HELP YOURSELF." Yes and No. Yes, when he/she becomes 18 and begins paying his/her taxes. No, as long as the child is under 18, he/she is considered your ward and if you are not a US Citizen, you can't access medicare or medicaid - if you do, you may not be able to renew your visa. olayoife: 6 Likes |

Oh dear your response just highlighted your narrow minded nature. This was about you not others...Since you care so much about the things God says and what HE is concerned about then why not lead by example and start by showing some respect for the same God you quote his words so much. Only if you took time to understand sometimes we are actually the problem especially when we are quick to lend our voices in the bid to be perceived as knowledgeable then will you respond intelligently. baslone: Answers: 1) No. You can pay at the vital office with card or cash. $20 I think per copy. Abi $5 I can't remember. Document to go with is your ID and confirmation of birth of the baby, given to you by the hospital. 2) Online application? No. Go to travelstate.gov website for the updated way of getting a US passport. You can get a form from post office but you have to call the number on the website to book an appointment before showing up downtown. You pay cash or card. You and money order sef lol. American passport is $165. I think it's extra for expedited. For Nigerian passport, I can't remember the process. It's been 2 years. Check my posts from 2015. I even had to screen shot the page coz I forgot. Meanwhile why use Dr Soyoola? All these over priced naija Drs....tufia. lol |

Oh and baby's father has to be present with his ID to hasten the process for both passports. |

ojceskills: Other than another opportunity to hurl invectives, it was hard to figure out what your complaint really is about? Was it about my "disrespect" for "God"? Was it your perception that I have not led by example in respecting god? Or are you just annoyed that I respond to posts without reading? Is it about wanting to be perceived as knowledgeable or is your overall quibble that I am indeed unintelligent? In terms of God and respect, I think someone else explained it already... if your "respect" for god centers only on how his name is written, rather than how you and others reverence him with regard to your every day actions, then you are of all men the worst hypocrite. I mean, nowhere in the Bible does God say anything about how to spell his name, but he says a lot about honesty, obedience (even to local secular authorities, letting our words and deeds be above reproach etc. you remind me of what I really think about Nigerian "Christians" - a collection of spiritually empty hypocrites, whose concern for god does not extend beyond what he can acquire for them and whose reverence for him is purely superficial (how you spell his name, how you dress in church, how long you pray etc.). In terms of leading by example - i rarely invoke god or anything religious here. On the other hand, this thread is chockful of people calling on favor, waffling on about testimonies and people like you who get their pants in a knot about how his very title should be spelled. I would have expected you all to lead the way in showing us how much that god means to you with respect to your deeds and utterances. The rest of your points I will kindly decline to engage. You have a right to your own opinion. 9 Likes |

Shawbabe: Dont mind me Actually, I had an experience sometime in 2015 as well- Can't remember which exactly but I think it was the American Passport- I was turned back to go get a money order. Shawbabe: We had a nice experience with him the last time and nothing has changed really. I Actually went for his Full package- he provides accommodation by the side, peeps in to check on you medically from time to time while his wife has a standby car to take you to wherever you want to go whenever you want to. PS: Thanks for the info! Appreciate 4 Likes |

Shawbabe: 1. 1st copy is about $20 or $23, extra copy is about $5, 2. You can fill the form online at travel.state.gov save as PDF n print. Expedited US passport is $165. If father is not around he should print out and fill a ds5053 and get it notarized and Dhl to her. She will add it to her supporting documents. Nigerian passport is where money order is concerned. |
