The effect ?

Dollar may crash to 200/$

Then the government can chill and hustle for dollars. Even if the dollar will still bounce back, it will take another 8 months or so.

Now tell me how long can speculators or hoarders wait ? 17 months ?

They may be forced to play along and accept the new market rate or go back to village and start new trade.

And the criminals taking advantage of buying cheap dollars to hoard may forfeit everything.

I think the government has woken up from thier slumber and ready to do anything to bring back the value of naira.

My opinion though.

But bros, it takes less than a month for dolar to go back to its high price even after ur 9 months of pumping money into forex to make d naira strong.

People that usually mop up d dollar supply are always waiting for d govt.

Well, what do i know sef, what concern my profession with dollar

I wish government could reason and invest the money in infrastructure and industrialisation of the country.

Once import is reduced, pressure on the need for dollar will reduce and naira would be strengthen

Will government be able to pump dollars into the system for the next 6 months without depleting foreign reserve. That is my major concern

The government can use 1.5 Billion dollars out of the 29Billion dollars in the reserve.

This is not too much to rescue the naira.

We can still generate more fx reserve later.

Naira to USD must not hit the 1k mark otherwise we are doomed.

And if the government can monitor those buying fx and what they use fx for.

I think this will bring sanity to the system.
