TAKE LOTS OF BEER DURING LENT


The Parish Priest of St.Patrick's Church in Bangalore in India gave a simple advise on what to do during 40 days of lent. He said we should take lots of *BEER*.

Now do not let your minds go wondering. This means:

*B-BIBLE-* Read your Bible.This is God's given time to be spiritually enriched with the word of God

*E-EMPATHY-*Feel empathy for the poor and neglected and do something about it.

*E-EUCHARIST-*Go for mass frequently besides Sunday's.If possible everyday.

*R-RECONCILIATION*-This is the best time to reconcile with those we have hurt,not talking, seek forgiveness. Restore our relationship with God and one another.

Have a wonderful and joyful Lent and do not forget your BEER.

Lent don reach oh!

Someone told me some years ago that lent is from the latin word "lento" and it means to break or to bend....
Its 2 meanings tells us our duty during this period, we must break from (detach) everything opposed to God in our lives, every filt, iniquity, sin or offence that robs us of grace. We must wage war against the flesh, the world and satan trusting only in God's grace. Break away from imperfection....

Then we must bend to the only true One as a plants bends to light, seeking God with all our hearts...fasting, praying and giving... yeilding always to his spirit we must now cultivates those virtues that must be part of a spirit led life. We must now be transformed into the very image of Christ.

O! How beautiful the world will be if we are all little Christs.

Somehow it kept ringing in my head that i have a wish to make.

And then i remembered it's the birthday of a rare gem, one whose strength in weakness has been the inspiration of many of us in and outside this thread.

You teach, you preach, you admonish, you encourage, and you live the word for us to emulate.

I can go on and on.....but phew let me restrain myself and make a wish though i still can't find a wish good enough to convey that which i desire for you.

May the Lord always find pleasure in blessing you in a very unique way.
May the Lord treat everything about you with utmost grace and concern.
No matter the level of the storm in the world, i wish you peace and calm.
You will wake up each day beholding a new blessing and a reason to be greatful to God continuously.

My prayer this morning is that as we March out today, may we put God's word first in all we do. And even when we make mistakes, may we quickly realize our error(s) and make amends.
I pray that God will give each of us the grace to live the life he expects of us daily as catholics and may we be true ambassadors of Christ wherever we find ourselves no matter the fleshly "rewards" of doing otherwise
And may the blessings of following his commands be our portion all the days of our lives. For these I pray through Christ our Lord. Amen
